It is a solid song, OP. It barely feels country to me, with the exception of the "twang" and some other instrumentation, it could be a pop-rock song.

It's a little overproduced for my taste, but catchy.

Did he write it? No offense to Shelton, but it sounds a bit too clever for him.

When I saw the title I thought this song would be a social commentary on how hard it is to survive on minimum wage. Boy, was I wrong about that.

I think he would have been fine (minus the extra millions in his bank account) R17. By time The Voice started, he already had 10 #1 country hits (28 now) and was in a streak of 17 in a row. He's sold 30 million singles and 10 million albums.
