This is one of the best damn Country songs I ever heard in my life. I didn’t even know Country could sound this good.
Hi Gwen!

It is a solid song, OP. It barely feels country to me, with the exception of the "twang" and some other instrumentation, it could be a pop-rock song.
It's a little overproduced for my taste, but catchy.
Did he write it? No offense to Shelton, but it sounds a bit too clever for him.

I couldn’t believe it was Blake Shelton. I Shazamed it thinking there was some new singer ready to take the Country world by storm.

It's OK, but it's no "Dicked Down in Dallas".
Now THAT is a masterpiece.

We’re being serious here, R4.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | April 12, 2021 1:15 AM |
No he didn’t write it R2.
What is this shit on Wikipedia about the song being “controversial”? The lyrics are tone deaf? How?
by Anonymous | reply 6 | April 12, 2021 1:27 AM |
Wow, I literally fell asleep before the song had ended. From what I can remember it was terrible.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | April 12, 2021 1:56 AM |
R7 you’re lying.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | April 12, 2021 2:17 AM |
R8 I’m not, but to be fair I hadn’t gotten out of bed yet

You can make a 👨 feel 🤑 on minimum waaaage.

Anyone else think he'd be long forgotten without that reality talent show? Just a generic talent. Best career move he ever made.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | April 12, 2021 2:54 AM |
Most Country music singers are generic talents. Shit, most singers, period.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | April 12, 2021 1:46 PM |
A multimillionaire singing about living well on minimum wage? Yeah, that’s time deaf.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | July 6, 2021 1:02 AM |
Tone!!!
by Anonymous | reply 15 | July 6, 2021 1:02 AM |
Stupid point, R14
by Anonymous | reply 16 | July 6, 2021 1:09 AM |
The best thing he ever did was join the cast of that talent show. Otherwise he'd be doing VFWs in Alabama by now.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | July 6, 2021 1:51 AM |
R14 is stupid period
by Anonymous | reply 18 | July 6, 2021 2:45 AM |
What an untalented, annoying couple.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | July 6, 2021 2:47 AM |
When I saw the title I thought this song would be a social commentary on how hard it is to survive on minimum wage. Boy, was I wrong about that.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | July 6, 2021 2:52 AM |
I think he would have been fine (minus the extra millions in his bank account) R17. By time The Voice started, he already had 10 #1 country hits (28 now) and was in a streak of 17 in a row. He's sold 30 million singles and 10 million albums.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | July 6, 2021 5:26 AM |
He wasn’t a millionaire forever, R14. Rappers make songs all the time that reminisce on the days when they were broke. Why can’t Blake Shelton?
by Anonymous | reply 22 | July 6, 2021 11:19 AM |
They were distasteful jokes, R23. And he apologized. Would you prefer that he say fuck the LGBT community and keep cracking jokes?
by Anonymous | reply 24 | July 6, 2021 1:10 PM |
Sounds like any other Blake Shelton song to me. How could anyone hear this song and not recognize Shelton’s voice or that it’s a country song?
I don’t even listen to country unless I’m riding with my partner, and it’s too dangerous to jump out of a moving vehicle.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | July 6, 2021 1:16 PM |
Does your partner like the song, R25?
by Anonymous | reply 26 | July 6, 2021 1:37 PM |
I’ve never heard a Blake Shelton song. I’m not going to change that now.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | July 6, 2021 2:05 PM |
Give it a try, R27. It’s right there. All you have to do is click play.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | July 6, 2021 2:22 PM |
He probably thought this was going to be a big crossover hit.
Nope.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | July 6, 2021 2:51 PM |
I still love this song.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | October 19, 2022 2:42 AM |
I don't know. The bar was set pretty high with Applebee's on a date night.
