Today I've seen three commercials advising seniors to buy a life insurance policy to cover funeral expenses and have money left over for the family. Are these legit and if so, is there anything in the small print to watch out for?
Funeral Life Insurance Policies

Who the hell would buy life insurance to cover a funeral??
If you can’t afford a lavish funeral, don’t have one

Many of these policies don't pay for two years. If you die in that time they give you your premium back.

Cremation costs less than $2k. If you can’t afford that, donate your body to science. To spend $10-12k to be buried in the ground is idiotic.

The funeral industry is a scam

What r3 and r4 said. Funerals are the biggest waste of money, next to weddings. I'm hoping that our current preferences for burials, embalming, etc. die out within the next few generations.

A friend's family was told that embalming was "customary." After the funeral with a two-day viewing, they learned embalming isn't necessary until body is on display for 72 hours. He didn't mention how much the formaldehyde cost them.

Cremation. If your friends want a ceremony of some sort, they can hire a room in a pub, a restaurant, a meeting space.
It's ridiculous that people spend large sums of money for funerals.
