My rescue dog peed on my down comforter

Why would he do that? He never pees inside. But today he peed on it while I was changing the bed linens.

by Anonymousreply 29April 11, 2021 1:06 AM

Clearly, he hates you.

Just like everyone else does.

by Anonymousreply 1April 10, 2021 10:14 PM

Because you mislabel him. He’s not a “rescue dog.” He’s a dog who happens to have been temporarily unhoused.

by Anonymousreply 2April 10, 2021 10:15 PM

He didn't even look guilty when he did it!

by Anonymousreply 3April 10, 2021 10:16 PM

Is he a rescue dog?

by Anonymousreply 4April 10, 2021 10:17 PM

Possible urinary tract infection, depending on the breed.

by Anonymousreply 5April 10, 2021 10:17 PM

Dogs do not possess secondary emotions such as guilt or shame.

Gut the ungrateful lil fucker.

by Anonymousreply 8April 10, 2021 10:30 PM

I have a hack for that.

by Anonymousreply 9April 10, 2021 10:30 PM

R6 you are so wrong. I’ll post a video in a sec...

by Anonymousreply 10April 10, 2021 10:33 PM

Consider yourself lucky. My rescue dog is menstruating all over the house, and we can't get her spayed until June because so many people are adopting animals that there is a backlog for veterinary services.

by Anonymousreply 11April 10, 2021 10:34 PM

Good! I’m glad he did! Serves your ass right!

by Anonymousreply 12April 10, 2021 10:34 PM

Well, I shit on the White House carpet!

by Anonymousreply 13April 10, 2021 10:38 PM

I kept a friend's Australian Shepherd for a weekend and that little bitch peed on my bedding while looking me straight in the eye.

by Anonymousreply 15April 10, 2021 10:42 PM

A number of reasons. A UT infection, more often seen in females, but males can get them too. If the dog is recently in your house, he could be marking the room. If that's the reason, he feels comfortable with you and wants to make the place his. He could be nervous. One of my dogs does that when I come home after being away for a while -- pees on the stone floor in the entryway.

Whatever you do, pay attention if it happens again and try to see what clues you can see.

by Anonymousreply 16April 10, 2021 10:45 PM

He just went to the vet today for his annual exam and bloodwork so I doubt he has an infection. I thought dogs don't pee where they sleep? He sleeps on that comforter! He just looked at me and smiled after he did it.

[quote] Is he a rescue dog?

Yes, he's a rescue dog.

by Anonymousreply 17April 10, 2021 10:49 PM

Sounds like rescue dog is gonna need a rescue dog after I serve him his whoopass for lunch!

by Anonymousreply 18April 10, 2021 10:52 PM

Rescue dogs are rejects for a reason.

by Anonymousreply 19April 10, 2021 10:53 PM

If he's old, dementia has just started and he will shit and piss all over. Give him Karsivan or Aktivait to slow down the deterioration.

by Anonymousreply 20April 10, 2021 11:01 PM

R20 this isn’t about the president!

by Anonymousreply 21April 10, 2021 11:06 PM

Clearly, it's a poor quality comforter

or

the duvet cover is of poor quality

by Anonymousreply 22April 10, 2021 11:21 PM

Are you a bottom? Do you baby him? Do you feed him before you eat? Does he walk you and go in the door first? Is he sleeping in your bed? It could be dominance confusion. Dogs feel secure when they are led. Show him that you're the boss.

Or it could be the thread count, it's one or the other.

by Anonymousreply 23April 10, 2021 11:48 PM

He has beef with you.

My rescue would jump up on the guest bed when my father would visit and shit on the pillow because he didn’t like him. It was quite deliberate.

by Anonymousreply 24April 11, 2021 12:26 AM

Never in my entire life did I ever have a cat or dog that pissed or shit in my house . Nor would I. One and done..

by Anonymousreply 25April 11, 2021 12:43 AM

It's a side-effect of getting the COVID vaccine. I'm sure of it.

Maybe the dog thought you were messing with his spot and wanted to mark it again to make sure you didn't think it was yours.

by Anonymousreply 28April 11, 2021 12:51 AM

Now I have to take it to the dry cleaner (the comforter). It's still sitting on the floor, and he keeps sniffing it. I did douse the stain with Resolve. He never pees inside. I think he really had to go... but why go on something soft and fluffy? He's only two... probably. I'm not sure, because as I said, he's a rescue dog.
