SNL 04-10-2021 Live tonight Carey Mulligan will make her hosting debut with musical guest Kid Cudi

Too soon for a sketch with Phillip, Diana and Meghan?

by Anonymousreply 181April 18, 2021 6:25 PM

Poor Mulligan has to be near the annoying and overrated Kate McKinnon.

by Anonymousreply 1April 11, 2021 2:34 AM

opening sketch sucks

by Anonymousreply 2April 11, 2021 3:34 AM

Terry Mullihan?....Never heard of her.....Bring out Andrew Dismukes shirtless.....

by Anonymousreply 3April 11, 2021 3:37 AM

I wish they'd use Ego for more than "we need a black girl in this sketch'.

by Anonymousreply 4April 11, 2021 3:37 AM

OK, why dressed like a gay birthday present ribbon?

by Anonymousreply 5April 11, 2021 3:38 AM

Um, what is she wearing?

by Anonymousreply 6April 11, 2021 3:38 AM

Carey's outfit looks like it was found in some 80s closet.

by Anonymousreply 7April 11, 2021 3:39 AM

Those shoulders and that mid-drift 🤢

by Anonymousreply 8April 11, 2021 3:40 AM

The outfit was quite bright, wasn't it?

by Anonymousreply 9April 11, 2021 3:42 AM

I hate her OTT faux-plummy accent.

I saw Skylight on Broadway, and Bill Nighy and that hot twink Matthew Beard were excellent, but listening to her was like getting rammed in the ear with a screwdriver.

by Anonymousreply 10April 11, 2021 3:44 AM

[quote]I wish they'd use Ego for more than "we need a black girl in this sketch'.

She's not really capable of anything else. She's been on the show for years and has yet to do anything funny.

by Anonymousreply 11April 11, 2021 3:46 AM

Ooooh, a game show first skit. That’s innovative.

by Anonymousreply 12April 11, 2021 3:46 AM

Kenan needs to leave. He's bland.

by Anonymousreply 13April 11, 2021 3:47 AM

The fake commercial should have ended with her going on a killing spree.

by Anonymousreply 14April 11, 2021 3:52 AM

More farting and shitting jokes.

Every time they seem to have hit rock bottom, they just go lower.

by Anonymousreply 15April 11, 2021 3:52 AM

Bathroom Humor is low rent and trashy.....The show is off to a bad start.....

by Anonymousreply 16April 11, 2021 3:54 AM

Kate needs to stop playing guys.

by Anonymousreply 17April 11, 2021 3:56 AM

Kate McKinnon is clearly refusing to do a show without portraying a MALE....

by Anonymousreply 18April 11, 2021 3:56 AM

I've never seen such obvious cue card reading.

by Anonymousreply 19April 11, 2021 3:56 AM

So Kate wrote a sketch so she could skeeve on Carey Mulligan.

Gross.

by Anonymousreply 20April 11, 2021 3:57 AM

Attack of The Pats! And this host is like an anorexic British Linda Purl. 🤷‍♂️

by Anonymousreply 21April 11, 2021 4:00 AM

Pete Rapping?......MUTE...

by Anonymousreply 22April 11, 2021 4:02 AM

Sketch all about race race race race without laughs or insight.

Laugh-free monologue.

Game show parody.

Kate McKinnon playing a male character badly.

Digital short involving hip-hop.

Yep, they're really checking off all the boxes in order this week.

by Anonymousreply 23April 11, 2021 4:02 AM

Oh god another fucking woke rap video with Pete Davidson.

by Anonymousreply 24April 11, 2021 4:02 AM

Timmy!

by Anonymousreply 25April 11, 2021 4:03 AM

Haven't watched this in a long time and now I remember why. Really bad.

by Anonymousreply 26April 11, 2021 4:05 AM

Lorne, please take your Aspergers self out of this show’s production and let someone else take over with some original ideas and direction!

by Anonymousreply 27April 11, 2021 4:07 AM

I’ve laughed HARD already a couple times tonight and that Marcus Mumford is dreamy.

by Anonymousreply 28April 11, 2021 4:08 AM

R28 = Marcus Mumford

by Anonymousreply 29April 11, 2021 4:08 AM

Why is the singer touching his wang?

by Anonymousreply 30April 11, 2021 4:08 AM

[quote]This host is like an anorexic British Linda Purl.

Despite the accent, she looks like Kyra Sedgwick's even-more-redneck cousin.

by Anonymousreply 31April 11, 2021 4:10 AM

Colin Jost making fun of Matt Gaetz is going to be the only funny thing in this weeks episode...

by Anonymousreply 32April 11, 2021 4:11 AM

In the first sketch she pronounced the word “condom” the way Brits do. Like “pappadom.”

by Anonymousreply 33April 11, 2021 4:11 AM

Kahn-DOMEs

by Anonymousreply 34April 11, 2021 4:13 AM

No, she pronounced it “KAHN-DAHMS” when it should be “KAHN-duhms.” Are you American, R33?

by Anonymousreply 35April 11, 2021 4:15 AM

Punkie Johnson is a dud.

by Anonymousreply 36April 11, 2021 4:22 AM

Kate should do an Elliot Page impersonation.

by Anonymousreply 37April 11, 2021 4:23 AM

Chris Redd was hilarious in that game show skit

by Anonymousreply 38April 11, 2021 4:25 AM

Chris Redd is owning this whole show so far #snl

by Anonymousreply 39April 11, 2021 4:26 AM

Okay, Bowen was awesome as the iceberg. Loved it.

by Anonymousreply 40April 11, 2021 4:28 AM

Poor Andrew Dismukes....Where is he?....Why didn't HE do the teenage boy skit instead of Kate McKinnon?

by Anonymousreply 41April 11, 2021 4:29 AM

People bumped into the iceberg Iceberg: I said sorry, which is insane. 🤣

Bowen Yang is hilarious

by Anonymousreply 42April 11, 2021 4:30 AM

The screams when Timmy showed up (granted that was just me)

by Anonymousreply 43April 11, 2021 4:32 AM

The majority of the male cast look and act like teenage boys. They have become unwatchable.

Explains why the females play men all the time.

by Anonymousreply 44April 11, 2021 4:34 AM

I can't believe how hard I laughed at the iceberg. Bowen killed it.

by Anonymousreply 45April 11, 2021 4:34 AM

"She threatens to jump into space every day...it's fine."

by Anonymousreply 46April 11, 2021 4:34 AM

Yang is still blue in the Star Trek skit

by Anonymousreply 47April 11, 2021 4:35 AM

I love Mikey Day.

by Anonymousreply 48April 11, 2021 4:36 AM

This lesbian movie trailer is hilarious.

by Anonymousreply 49April 11, 2021 4:37 AM

I know Data Lounge has a very strong Dismukes and Davidson following. How do we feel about Beck Bennett? 💕

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 50April 11, 2021 4:38 AM

Does Andrew Dismukes have a PR army on here or something? He's not hot or funny and is barely noticeable.

I thought the iceberg segment was hilarious.

by Anonymousreply 51April 11, 2021 4:40 AM

More tropes in effect:

Underwhelming featured player shows up on Update to do a low-energy character.

Bowen Yang appears on Update to do something that's 2/3 of the way toward being funny.

Everyone on the show is just so ... functional. Basic. Nothing exciting.

by Anonymousreply 52April 11, 2021 4:40 AM

Bowen Yang deserves an Emmy nomination just for that iceberg skit.

by Anonymousreply 53April 11, 2021 4:41 AM

Chris Redd as President Obama is really good 😂 #SNL

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 54April 11, 2021 4:42 AM

Here comes another letter-writing skit, the same thing they did with Claire Foy and Phoebe Waller-Bridge. They must have really struggle with Mulligan this week.

by Anonymousreply 55April 11, 2021 4:42 AM

Unfunny. As usual.

by Anonymousreply 56April 11, 2021 4:43 AM

They should start stealing ideas from here again if they want to be funny. Anyone been here long enough to remember when they stole the Roomba sweeping the vagina idea from DL?

by Anonymousreply 57April 11, 2021 4:46 AM

What's the obsession here with Andrew Dismukes? He's not funny, he always fades into the background and isn't remotely 'hot'.

Guess his one overly obsessed DL fan has replaced the DL Riz Ahmed DL Troll?

by Anonymousreply 58April 11, 2021 4:46 AM

I have to admit I howled at the Ammonite sketch

by Anonymousreply 59April 11, 2021 4:47 AM

I think it would be interesting if they'd do another "SNL At Home" episode with all the cast producing original content from home. Though not always successful content-wise, I thought it made for an interesting experiment.

by Anonymousreply 60April 11, 2021 4:47 AM

R57 Do you have a link?

by Anonymousreply 61April 11, 2021 4:50 AM

Kid Cudi in a DRESS!!.....Tucker has his topic for Monday....

by Anonymousreply 62April 11, 2021 4:50 AM

His dress is better than the host’s outfits tonight.

by Anonymousreply 63April 11, 2021 4:51 AM

This dress is going to stir controversy tomorrow.

by Anonymousreply 64April 11, 2021 4:51 AM

This singer is going to have a tough time going back to the Hood in his dress....

by Anonymousreply 65April 11, 2021 4:51 AM

This is fucking stupid. I know I am old but I am so tired of this shit. Kid Cudi looks fucking ridiculous. If he gets raped he was asking for it.

by Anonymousreply 66April 11, 2021 4:52 AM

I didn't know Carey Mulligan was a tattooed black man.

by Anonymousreply 67April 11, 2021 4:53 AM

The dress isn't even pretty. Looks like TJ Maxx sale rack.

by Anonymousreply 68April 11, 2021 4:54 AM

Blonde Andrew!!!

by Anonymousreply 69April 11, 2021 4:55 AM

A curtsey by Cudi

by Anonymousreply 70April 11, 2021 4:56 AM

Is Carey Mulligan anorexic or just painfully thin naturally? She is swimming in every costume she wears.

by Anonymousreply 71April 11, 2021 4:57 AM

SNL went to shit after Adam Sandler left and Chris Farley died.

by Anonymousreply 72April 11, 2021 4:58 AM

I don't know anything at all about this Kid Cudi. Is he known for cross-dressing?

by Anonymousreply 73April 11, 2021 4:59 AM

Who is the target audience for these sketches? There's no reference points. Just random half baked ideas.

by Anonymousreply 74April 11, 2021 4:59 AM

SNL went to shit when Adam Sandler and Chris Farley joined.

by Anonymousreply 75April 11, 2021 5:00 AM

Oh, lovely. He kept the dress on for the closing credits. 🙄

by Anonymousreply 76April 11, 2021 5:02 AM

DMX memorial

by Anonymousreply 77April 11, 2021 5:02 AM

Aidy Bryant’s tiny little feet tho. They look like Barbie doll feet.

by Anonymousreply 78April 11, 2021 5:03 AM

Strange show. Best of the night for me was Bowen Yang as the iceberg. Great bit and he knocked it out of the park.

by Anonymousreply 79April 11, 2021 5:05 AM

That's my problem with the show as well, R74 — SNL used to have a point of view.

by Anonymousreply 80April 11, 2021 5:05 AM

R71 She's lost a lot of weight over the years. She was so cute during An Education, but you could see her thin out during the 2009 award season. Now, she's even thinner.

by Anonymousreply 81April 11, 2021 5:06 AM

Someone explain the rapper in a dress to me please. Serious question.

by Anonymousreply 82April 11, 2021 5:08 AM

I don't know why but for some reason I thought John Legend was going to be on the show tonight, either as the host or musical guest. I could've sworn I heard them say something about him recently with regard to SNL but obviously I was wrong (and looks like it's a repeat next week).

by Anonymousreply 83April 11, 2021 5:08 AM

He woke and non-binary, non-cis whatever, and dares anyone to say he's not street even if he's wearing a dress out of Doris Day's closet.

by Anonymousreply 84April 11, 2021 5:09 AM

The "Lesbian Period Drama" sketch was pretty funny. It was based on some recent lame film.

by Anonymousreply 85April 11, 2021 5:11 AM

R84, did you post in the wrong thread?

by Anonymousreply 86April 11, 2021 5:11 AM

Talk show, game show, rap video, women playing men, rinse and repeat.

by Anonymousreply 87April 11, 2021 5:12 AM

How does anyone still watch this shit?

by Anonymousreply 88April 11, 2021 5:13 AM

This can't possibly be timed for the final week of voting right?

by Anonymousreply 89April 11, 2021 5:13 AM

another boring Brit host?

WTF? The 4th this year.

Only Rege-Jean Page was great. Adele was OK. This one was really forgettable and the one last week was mediocre too

by Anonymousreply 90April 11, 2021 5:15 AM

[quote]Talk show, game show, rap video, women playing men, rinse and repeat.

Are you a comedy writer? If so and you think you have better ideas, why not submit them to SNL? What have you got to lose?

by Anonymousreply 91April 11, 2021 5:15 AM

Chris Redd is the funniest cast member by far. He has this charisma about him. He improves any sketch

by Anonymousreply 92April 11, 2021 5:15 AM

Kid Cudi of course wore the dress to create a viral moment and I'm sure he'll get his wish. People are still freaked out about men not showing default toxic masculinity

by Anonymousreply 93April 11, 2021 5:16 AM

Is Viola gonna get a week?

by Anonymousreply 94April 11, 2021 5:17 AM

My comic gems are exclusive to Datalounge.

by Anonymousreply 95April 11, 2021 5:17 AM

Worked for me!

by Anonymousreply 96April 11, 2021 5:20 AM

Chris Redd is basic and boring.

Getting a lot of airtime does not equal owning a show.

by Anonymousreply 97April 11, 2021 5:23 AM

West Coast here...what's the opening like? Any good? Should I stay up to watch?

by Anonymousreply 98April 11, 2021 5:26 AM

the only sketch I really enjoyed was the "what's wrong with this picture" sketch

the host was so boring I can't believe they gave her a shot hosting. No more British hosts this season! It's ridiculous

by Anonymousreply 99April 11, 2021 5:30 AM

I think Andra Day is gonna end up winning too. If she doesn't I think it will be Mulligan because I just don't think the voting bodies of the awards shows are in sync this year other than honoring Bosewick. I do think the old lady from Minari will win and Get Out guy.

by Anonymousreply 100April 11, 2021 5:31 AM

R99 she's in a tight Oscar race why would they not give her a chance to host SNL?

by Anonymousreply 101April 11, 2021 5:31 AM

R101 never heard of her and tonight won't make me remember her. Comedy isn't her thing

by Anonymousreply 102April 11, 2021 5:34 AM

And this is exactly how you lose the Oscar race. Viola, please start preparing your speech.

by Anonymousreply 103April 11, 2021 5:36 AM

Yeah, this show did her no favors.

by Anonymousreply 104April 11, 2021 5:40 AM

What a stupid move campaigning for an Oscar. Maybe she thought it would go better.

by Anonymousreply 105April 11, 2021 5:42 AM

[quote][R101] never heard of her and tonight won't make me remember her. Comedy isn't her thing

Carey was the sister in that film where Michael Fassbender was swinging his big dick around. Think it was called SHAME.

Fassbender played a sex addict, Carey, as his sister, comes to live with him and intrudes on his sex obsession. She was excellent in that film.

by Anonymousreply 106April 11, 2021 5:43 AM

I thought. Carey did a great job. First time I ever saw her. ❤

Did you know Chloe Fineman is a Scientologist?

by Anonymousreply 107April 11, 2021 5:45 AM

I think the votes for the Oscars were turned in quite a while ago.

by Anonymousreply 108April 11, 2021 5:45 AM

[quote] How does anyone still watch this shit?

I’ve been saying that for 41 years.

by Anonymousreply 109April 11, 2021 5:46 AM

R108 final voting starts April 15

by Anonymousreply 110April 11, 2021 5:48 AM

This show had two sketches that were recycled, barely rewritten, from Phoebe Waller-Bridge's show (What's Wrong With This Picture and the historical letters thing).

Maybe the writers just didn't warm to Carey and found her difficult. But if she was difficult, why would she agree to be in an IBS commercial that was about her shitting all over a public restroom?

I think the writing staff just sucks and should be completely replaced.

by Anonymousreply 111April 11, 2021 5:52 AM

Except Andrew, Andrew must be protected at all costs!

by Anonymousreply 112April 11, 2021 6:04 AM

Chloe Fineman is a scientologist??? Ugh, gross. Spill.

by Anonymousreply 113April 11, 2021 6:16 AM

Love the losers who come here every Saturday night and proclaim the show sucked again, get a fucking life. If your refined sense of humor is insulted by sketch comedy go suck a dick, honest to God, it's so old ( and I assume you are too).

by Anonymousreply 114April 11, 2021 6:32 AM

R113 Tony Ortega had an article on his site about her Scientology activities and a former Scieno dished on her to Tony.

by Anonymousreply 115April 11, 2021 6:44 AM

Back in 2015, SNL did a parody of Scientology's We Stand Tall video. Most of the people in that parody are still on the show.

by Anonymousreply 116April 11, 2021 6:49 AM

The show really needs to cut Kate McKinnon loose....

by Anonymousreply 117April 11, 2021 7:00 AM

SNL's budget is upward of $2 million an episode.

Even first-season deadweights like Lauren Holt are paid more than $150k a year to be on the show.

I dunno, I don't feel like I'm getting that much entertainment value from this crew.

by Anonymousreply 118April 11, 2021 7:00 AM

R118 = Andrew Dismukes is worth every penny....He and Mickey Day are the only cute guys there.

by Anonymousreply 119April 11, 2021 7:20 AM

Bowen Yang's Titantic/iceberg skit on Weekend Update was funny. Bowen Yang is always funny.

by Anonymousreply 120April 11, 2021 7:31 AM

Bowen Yang is a minstrel and an embarrassment.

by Anonymousreply 121April 11, 2021 7:32 AM

Bowen Yang was channeling to much Dan Levy during the iceberg routine.

by Anonymousreply 122April 11, 2021 7:36 AM

R122 I think Yang is funny and underused on the show, but I also picked up the Dan Levy vibe. It was strange...since he was mocking cultural sensitivity, I wonder if he did that intentionally to parody Levy? I never noticed similarities between the two, but somehow when seeing him dressed as an iceberg, all I could see was David Rose.

by Anonymousreply 123April 11, 2021 8:32 AM

Last night's episode was actually pretty funny. I am at 1:18 of 1:30 and usually I give up after or before Weekend Update.

by Anonymousreply 124April 11, 2021 9:08 AM

I love Cudi but that dress was dumb. He stars in a Luca Guadagnino show (We Are Who We Are) and now he's in a dress and best friends with Tim? Eh, whatever.

by Anonymousreply 125April 11, 2021 9:15 AM

R87 posting something that's already been posted, rinse and repeat.

by Anonymousreply 126April 11, 2021 1:00 PM

Folks, paid homage to the later rocker Kurt Cobain -- who died almost 27 years ago to the day -- by wearing a dress almost identical to one worn by the Nirvana frontman.

by Anonymousreply 127April 11, 2021 1:48 PM

Chris Redd is emerging as the star. The reaction to his performance last night is strongly glowing

by Anonymousreply 128April 11, 2021 1:54 PM

R90, you forgot Daniel Craig.

by Anonymousreply 129April 11, 2021 3:24 PM

Chris Redd was brilliant in the quiz show. He’s really poppin this season

by Anonymousreply 130April 11, 2021 3:25 PM

Chris Redd held up a sign honoring DMX on #SNL, and the show also dropped a joke in the cold open. Watch:

bowen apparently fucked around with dan levy when he hosted so maybe that's why you're sensing a vibe...

Don’t make up lies

by Anonymousreply 135April 11, 2021 5:49 PM

Just finished watching. This was one of the best episodes of the season. There was only one weak sketch.

by Anonymousreply 136April 11, 2021 7:07 PM

Do the hosts have anything to do with the skits?

I don't understand how most episodes are unwatchably bad, and most of last night was consistently funny. There was another funny episode earlier this season. I think it was Regina King. And most of the rest was just abysmal. Why isn't the quality more balanced, with a mix of good and bad every week instead of one or the other?

by Anonymousreply 137April 11, 2021 7:10 PM

I would assume that a lot of it is subjective and just the stars aligning in some kind of magical order R137. Sketch comedy is hit or miss and what's funny in the writer's room or even in rehearsals doesn't always translate to a broader audience. One of the greats at sketch comedy, Carol Burnett, discussed that at one of those Paley Center panels.

by Anonymousreply 138April 11, 2021 7:16 PM

R138 I saw an Archive of American Television interview with Lucy Lawless and she said when she did SNL, they interviewed her about a lot of things and used some of her info for sketches.

One was that as a child, she used to impersonate Stevie Nicks. They wrote her doing that in a skit and she thought it was mortifyingly bad and assumed it would be cut for time. She said Lorne told her it was going to be an Internet sensation and he was right and she was dumbfounded.

Behold!

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 139April 11, 2021 7:26 PM

R138 I wonder what sketches were duds on Carol Burnett (maybe those never made it it air). I'm relatively young and I'd take the Carol Burnett show over current SNL any day.

by Anonymousreply 140April 11, 2021 7:36 PM

R137 Jay Mohr wrote a book about his two year SNL stint. He said that hosts can veto sketches at certain points. He told a couple of stories related to this. Shannen Doherty hosted the show and asked after dress rehearsal that sketch Jay co-wrote not make it to the live show. He mentioned being backstage and seeing his sketch title being taken down from a production board right after dress rehearsal wrapped. The other story he told was about Marisa Tomei. He pitched a script to her and she rejected it a couple of days later when they were narrowing down what to perform for dress rehearsal.

by Anonymousreply 141April 11, 2021 7:38 PM

[quote]I wonder what sketches were duds on Carol Burnett (maybe those never made it it air). I'm relatively young and I'd take the Carol Burnett show over current SNL any day.

I'm not old enough to remember the show in its original run, but I used to watch the repeats in syndication and still do on Amazon Prime. There were a ton of sketches that really didn't work. For every Eunice and Mama sketch there were more than a few duds.

by Anonymousreply 142April 11, 2021 7:42 PM

R141 Well then maybe Carey Mulligan is a brilliant editor because the show was actually funny and there's little other viable explanation.

One week this year half the skits were about menstrual blood, diarrhea, farting, throwing up. It was so bad and so juvenile from beginning to end.

by Anonymousreply 143April 11, 2021 7:42 PM

I agree that Bowen was the MVP last night. He really was great as the Iceberg and gave his all.

by Anonymousreply 144April 11, 2021 7:46 PM

Chris Redd is King

by Anonymousreply 145April 11, 2021 8:08 PM

This was the funniest sketch last night, mainly due to the presence of Queen Aidy. She's the funniest female cast member since Gilda Radner.

The moment when Aidy shouts "STOP THE CONCERT!" has me in tears.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 146April 11, 2021 8:08 PM

Most people didn’t find that skit funny. It had very little social media buzz

by Anonymousreply 147April 11, 2021 8:30 PM

WTF was up with the sketch with Kate and Aidy playing boys when they have more than enough male cast members? Did Lorne not want a lesbian sketch on the show and that was their compromise?

by Anonymousreply 148April 11, 2021 8:36 PM

Those stupid rap videos have GOT TO GO!

by Anonymousreply 149April 11, 2021 8:51 PM

It’s not lies - he and dan hooked up.

by Anonymousreply 150April 11, 2021 8:59 PM

Carey Mulligan is only 35? Why does she look like she's at least in her mid 40s?

by Anonymousreply 151April 11, 2021 9:05 PM

I can’t figure out her age. A few years back she was a break out star in The Education and was a teenager, but then she played a 50 year old in Dig.

Carey sort of looks like the weird love child of Kyra Sedgwick and Martha Plimpton.

R148 The show had a lesbian sketch last night.

The whole gag of the gerky teen boys sketch was that women played the boys. I was confused at first but then it amused me because it was so silly. They both reminded me of Pat.

Bowen Yang is an unfunny cunt.

Did Marcus Mumford lose weight?

R156 Food must not be important at the Mumford-Mulligan estate.

No one else thought the Star Trek sketch was a highlight? It was my favorite.

by Anonymousreply 158April 12, 2021 12:05 AM

R158, I liked the "Star Trek" sketch a lot. One of the better of the night.

R155 = Dan Levy

Jesus, we have a Chris Redd shill among us.

How pathetic do you have to be to shill for CHRIS REDD?

Several cast members have intimated that the host makes a big difference in the quality of the show. The hosts who are more engaged with the writers and willing to try things usually result in better shows. Not surprisingly, a lot of celebrities don't have a sense of humor about themselves and aren't willing to do anything they think is beneath them, so that limits what the writers can give them. And it helps when they are genuinely talented and can sing/dance or act in front of an audience. That's why even a douchebag like Justin Timberlake always does well on SNL--the writers can give him anything and he's game and can pull it off.

I remember in an interview Tina Fey talked about how awful Paris Hilton was when she hosted. She had no self awareness and no sense of humor, and just wanted them to write skits that trashed other famous women she hated. Imagine how funny that show could have been if she were more open-minded and cooperative with the writers? Instead it's totally forgotten. Same with Trump--the episode was awful because they had to cater to his massive infantile ego.

R158 I loved it. " Stop gaslighting me" really has come to mean don't criticize anyone under 25 ever LMAO.

R155 the iceberg sketch made me laugh. I like him.

by Anonymousreply 164April 12, 2021 1:36 AM

Well! That settles that!

An Education came out in 2009, when Carey was 24... more than a few years back.

The above article also explains Kid Cudi's decision to wear a dress during his second number: it was a tribute to Kurt Cobain.

I had no idea Marcus Mumford was so adorable.

by Anonymousreply 169April 13, 2021 3:50 AM

Kid has a fraction of Kurt's talent.

by Anonymousreply 170April 13, 2021 4:02 AM

Kid Cudi just wanted an excuse to wear a dress.

by Anonymousreply 171April 13, 2021 4:03 AM

R169, did he lose some weight?

by Anonymousreply 172April 13, 2021 12:24 PM

I believe it was Seth Meyers who also said that the host is given a lot of input in what makes it to air. The idea is that they want the host to be comfortable with their material to make for “a funnier show”. He said the problem with it is that sometimes truly funny sketches get passed over for another sketch because the host wants to do the sketch where they get to wear the funny wig. That doesn’t always make for a great show.

I am usually forgiving of SNL, but I thought this episode was a stinker. Also, I am tired of watching women play men - men, of course, are NEVER allowed to play women any longer. Also, tired of the weekly ‘hip hop video’.

Seems like it was a tribute to Kurt, Kid even wore a green sweater during his first song.

"Saturday Night dude"? WTF are you talking about. Fuck you. I have no connection to the show.

The newbies who have permeated DL over the past few years are completely deranged. People like you enjoy sucking the fun out of DL. Nearly every fucking thread turns into an incredibly lame argument.

by Anonymousreply 179April 14, 2021 2:08 PM

R178, you assume many of the SNL viewers are even aware of who Kid Cudi AND Kurt Cobain are?

Jokes on you.

I think he meant, “we knew that on Saturday night, dude.”
