If the US and Russia went to war today, who would win?

Factor in domestic support. What think you?

by Anonymousreply 37April 11, 2021 10:18 AM

The entire world would lose. Their would be no winners.

by Anonymousreply 1April 10, 2021 2:54 PM

zhēn de ma?

by Anonymousreply 2April 10, 2021 2:59 PM

Nuclear, no one would win as R1 said the whole world would lose but if anyone would come out on top from a war between the US and Russia, it would be China that would be the winner.

Non Nuclear, it would depend on where the war was being fought. If Russia started invading eastern European nations they would have an advantage being so close, if Russia tried to invade the US say by taking over Mexico first and then invading through our southern border the US would have the advantage.

by Anonymousreply 3April 10, 2021 2:59 PM

“There”

by Anonymousreply 4April 10, 2021 3:00 PM

Which border state would be easier for Putin to take, Canada or Mexico?

by Anonymousreply 5April 10, 2021 3:01 PM

But ya are war Blanche, ya are!

by Anonymousreply 6April 10, 2021 3:02 PM

God help me for having this image pop into my head:

If the Russians invaded Alaska, Sarah Palin (in a dog sled) would lead the a brigade of meth addicts against them.

by Anonymousreply 7April 10, 2021 3:02 PM

The rest of the world would win, except for Canada which is directly under the flight path of the ballistic missiles.

by Anonymousreply 8April 10, 2021 3:05 PM

It would never happen.

The USA and Russia are both chicken, and only pick on tiny defenseless nations.

by Anonymousreply 9April 10, 2021 3:06 PM

they are already at war, wake up!

by Anonymousreply 10April 10, 2021 3:07 PM

The winner would be the one with mountain-grown FLAVAH!

by Anonymousreply 11April 10, 2021 3:12 PM

The US. They have more money and are more developed than Russia is. Assuming it's not a hellish nuclear pyrrhic thing.

by Anonymousreply 12April 10, 2021 7:31 PM

Russia would win because Russia has already purchased the loyalty of the Republican Party through corrupt officials and their white trash base doesn't care.

Plus, U.S. liberals are spineless.

U.S. "conservatives" will lose every freedom they've had and have to pay-to-play for every government benefit. But any form of fascism will be A-O.K. for them as long as Republican Party officials are leading it. They don't ask questions.

by Anonymousreply 13April 10, 2021 8:06 PM

Putin will take back Alaska first. Install Sarah Palin as Commissar Patriot.

by Anonymousreply 14April 10, 2021 9:45 PM

It actually would be a cold, but perhaps effective, move to try and start a proxy war to bankrupt Russia as eventually happened during the end of the Cold War. Syria and low oil prices have already weakened them, perhaps a fools ole fashioned bloodbath in Donbas is what will put the final nail in the Putin coffin. /s

WOLVERINES, YOU BETCHA!

by Anonymousreply 16April 10, 2021 9:57 PM

That is a smart idea R15. Natural gas and oil are huge exports for Russia.

Just subsidize US gas and oil industries to sell well under market and they would be fucked (among though, other US "allies" like Saudi Arabia). The US can print money and it usually doesn't have a detremential affect.

by Anonymousreply 17April 10, 2021 9:59 PM

Shall we play a game?

The stock market.

by Anonymousreply 20April 10, 2021 11:59 PM

I think that the person commenting above is correct, many Republicans would welcome the Russians off the planes and boats.

by Anonymousreply 21April 11, 2021 12:18 AM

Assuming this hypothetical war stops short of nuclear war, the U.S. has the advantages.

- larger military -better technology - far more global allies - the ability to weaken the Russian economy via sanctions - the uncanny ability of both parties to suddenly come together for war

by Anonymousreply 22April 11, 2021 12:21 AM

Trust me, I guess. War b/t US & RU would last less than one day and the US would destroy their entire military capabilities.

The current conflict- based on 4th generation warfare - where the Kremlin has infiltrated parts of government, politics, media, and corporations. That, we are presently losing.

by Anonymousreply 23April 11, 2021 1:21 AM

The way to destroy Russia is to get the planet off fossil fuels and plastics (you can bet that wouldn't happen under Trump). All they have is oil.

by Anonymousreply 24April 11, 2021 2:01 AM

As r1 said, nuclear weapons means humanity has the ability to destroy itself. That is why the cold war stayed cold and there hasn't been a direct war between US and Russia.

by Anonymousreply 25April 11, 2021 2:05 AM

Russia has a new weapon. Its some sort of underwater torpedo like missile that can destroy coastal cities and make them uninhabitable for decades. But once they use them on the US or any ally, they would be nuked by our nuclear submarines always on the move and never in any one place. But they also know that there can be no winner, so they would never attack us nor would we attack them or China or any nuclear power.

by Anonymousreply 26April 11, 2021 3:04 AM

China

by Anonymousreply 27April 11, 2021 3:21 AM

The global military industrial complex. That's all war is these days, an industry.

by Anonymousreply 28April 11, 2021 3:42 AM

Go look up Mutual Assured Destruction and get back to us, doll.

Hint: nuclear winter, disruption of global food supplies for decades, mass starvation.

by Anonymousreply 29April 11, 2021 3:57 AM

The aliens from another galaxy are already taking care of the nuclear missiles. They are being disarmed. Trust me on this.

I believe you are talking about an underwater drone, which can be frightening because they go dormant and become untrackable. Unlike submarines, they do not need to surface; they get in place and power down. But, the minute it wakes up, it shows up on US/Allied Sonar tracking.

With hypersonic drones, the US can neutralize those quickly. It's complicated, having to do with limited parking space for your hibernating underwater drone (it has to be past Britain and in relatively shallow water); the geography is challenging, mainly because the other side knows where to look.

And, yes, the US has "underwater torpedo-like missiles," too. They are underwater drones: unmanned and completely maneuverable.

by Anonymousreply 31April 11, 2021 4:33 AM

Russia likes to posture as an equal to the US. The truth is, the only thing they have that is almost is weapons of mass destruction. Which we all know both sides would lose if either launched a real strike. Their economy is in the crapper, nothing even close to the size of the US, they have massive social unrest, poverty, crime you name it. The only other thing they have that's even worth bragging about is oil and we have put a block on that. They are screwed, we have them by the balls and they know it.

by Anonymousreply 32April 11, 2021 5:02 AM

Will the US government have to wage war on two fronts?

by Anonymousreply 33April 11, 2021 8:12 AM

R32 is absolutely right. For all his machismo posturing, Vladimir Putin is the leader of a medium size power. Russia’s economy is smaller than Canada’s. It is almost half that of France’s or the UK’s. Poverty is rife. The industrial military complex is a shadow of its former USSR glory days. Yes Russia still has many nuclear warheads, a legacy from the Soviet Union, but how many are really still operational? On paper, the Red Army is still one of the largest armies in the world. But can the country equip them with the latest weapon technologies? Of course not. Are they paid and fed well enough to go to war against a powerful enemy without any second thought? Doubtful.

They would be no match against the US, or even a well coordinated coalition of western European powers. And this is why they have invested heavily into cyber warfare, where they currently lead the pack. They directly influenced voters on Brexit. On Trump. They’re fucking good at that kind of war.

by Anonymousreply 34April 11, 2021 8:50 AM

They're winning at cyber warfare.

by Anonymousreply 35April 11, 2021 9:26 AM

It is 1985 again?

by Anonymousreply 36April 11, 2021 10:10 AM

Russia will never go to war against the USA. They have nothing to win.

Russia always sell that image of power but his army was obsolete not so long ago. They do way better using way more subtle ways. It works and they risk way less
