The show's fans have been going wild over the idea for months. Then a few celebs got involved. Actually there were quite a few fans talking about it years ago.

Beyond his film and television career, he's an actual fan of the show and the man is known for his work with reading literacy. He won celebrity Jeopardy years ago.

He speaks very clearly and has a very clean voice. I didn't feel like Jennings did that great of a job with that aspect.

He's also so mild and beloved by my generation, who grew up watching him as kids, that he'd be perfect.

It has nothing to do with his race. He has the street cred, the history with "learning" and he's a well respected actor. I think he'd be a good transition host.

I love Levar and think he would make a fine host. However, the tone of his public campaigning (as well as its shamelessness) annoys me.

The tone is troubling because it’s being asserted that OF COURSE he’s the most qualified/best possible host, and therefore were he not to be named the host, it would be because of RACISM. The shamelessness of the campaigning is reminiscent of decades ago when Sean Young was randomly showing up in public settings in a homemade Catwoman costume because OF COURSE she was the best possible Catwoman, etc.

Burton has been world famous for about 40 years now, and surely has an agency that represents him and gets work for him. Using a social media campaign to pressure Sony Television to get this job seems tacky and unprofessional. Especially since the producers of Jeopardy are no doubt looking for someone younger to be the next host for at least the next 20 years; Trebek was 44 when he got the job. Burton is 64. The next host shouldn’t be older than 50, nor should it be someone who is a huge star outside of the show’s brand.

Why on earth is everyone insisting the next host needs to stick around for a zillion years? Alex Trebek set records for hosting Jeopardy for 37 years; a stint that long is an outlier, not an expectation.
