"Sadly more than 1000 people pass in aged care every week. It is inevitable, as the head of the TGA has noted, that this will include people who have been recently vaccinated.
"It can be expected that older and more frail people in an aged care setting may pass away due to progression of underlying disease or natural causes, this does not mean the vaccine has contributed to this."

People her age die suddenly all the time, unfortunately. Off the top of my head I can think of Rose Marie, Carl Reiner and Jessica Walter who were all seemingly fine just prior to their deaths, and Florence Henderson who was fine until the day before she died (and probably only lived the extra day because she was taken to Cedars-Sinai quickly when she fell ill).
You can't say for certain that this death was due to the vaccination. Assuming cause-and-effect is pointless in this situation.

Thanks. From what I understood, studies showed Covid was primarily dangerous for the elderly and preexisting, with a few exceptions, and it sounds like the vaccine is the same? I'm mainly curious about the mindset that healthy people should mask for others and not be selfish, but when those others are dying from the vaccine it's fine because at least now I'm inoculated. There should still be some concern if the vaccine is killing the elderly and those preexisting conditions, since they were the priority recipients, right? And if we shouldn't vaccinate them because of that, then they're still vulnerable anyway, and so it sounds like...this is just a no-win situation with COVID but no one is really saying that.
I try to maintain a healthy skepticism about people in power. They haven't been great about looking out for my best interests so far. See: Amazon unions, Hedgefunds and GME, and the Georgia Voting regulations.
by Anonymous | reply 75 | April 7, 2021 6:54 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 76 | April 7, 2021 6:56 PM |
The lying sociopaths spewing anti-vaccine propaganda want to have it both ways: they question the official COVID death toll, claiming that many if not most deaths attributed to COVID were actually caused by something else (diabetes, pneumonia, etc.) - and now they turn right around and insist that ALL deaths among vaccine recipients are due to the vaccine.
The liars want the pandemic to continue flourishing - and get worse, because they want to ensure that Biden fails so the GQP can recapture Congress in 2022.

by Anonymous | reply 105 | April 8, 2021 5:12 PM |
[quote]Because I once again made the mistake of trying to ask questions and have a normal, reasonable, discussion on the internet with adults
Unfortunately, "just asking questions" and "trying to have a reasonable discussion" are code phrases ripped from the Conspiracists Guide.
"Just asking questions" is a standard techniques used to raise baseless accusations and sow doubt in generally accepted explanations. The "questions" generally raised are not questions because they are fundamentally flawed based on wholly wrong information.
It's like saying: "If evolution is real, why haven't we found the missing link? I'm just asking questions. We should be able to have a reasonable discussion about it if evolution is real." - No, we shouldn't because the question is based on a flawed understanding of evolution, genetics, and most other "ology" sciences.
The "mistake" you made is in thinking DL is susceptible to the same low intelligence lack of critical thinking that other sites is.
by Anonymous | reply 106 | April 8, 2021 7:28 PM |
I thought “just asking questions” is bad because the people being asked the questions don’t have answers and that frustrates them. The people being asked then have to deflect and question the legitimacy of the questions as a way out, and having to do that is also frustrating for them.

Well, you would be wrong.
It is, in fact, a standard part of disinformation tactics and conspiracy theory nutjobs to use it as a tactic to pretend to be reasonable. Also, the question is never a question, but a statement with a question mark at the end, like the teenage upspeak girl that most conspiracy nuts are.
by Anonymous | reply 109 | April 8, 2021 10:54 PM |
And in the case of the troll on this thread, the question includes information that is not true.
There is no evidence that Grandma died from the vaccine, so if one tries to answer the question reasonably one has conceded to a lie. The only way to stick to the truth is to not answer, which the troll cites as deflecting.
Very clever.
by Anonymous | reply 110 | April 8, 2021 10:59 PM |

Or if you don't want to answer, you just want to stir the pot.

Because grandma did not die from the vaccine.
You might as well ask, "Why is the sky greener at noon than at midnight?"
Or "Why are babies born six feet tall but lose height as they get older?"
They are fun questions, but they are not answerable because they are not true.

by Anonymous | reply 116 | April 8, 2021 11:47 PM |
[quote]It’s still possible vaccine caused her death
Yes, it is.
And there could be a dozen reasons why the vaccine caused - all of which are unique to grandma and not a cause for concern for the general public.
She could be on a specific medication that has an unknown interaction. She could actually be allergic to something. She very likely had multiple underlying health issues which may or may not have contributed to her death.
What is VERY clear is that with the literal MILLIONS of vaccines given, if it were a problem with the vaccine itself, as opposed to the specific patient, we'd be seeing, MILLIONS of deaths.

Another dangerous quack with no evidence, but conspiracy theorizing, r118. Flames and Freaks!

When does Dr. McCairn – "a world renowned semi-retired neuroscientist (following a head injury)..." expect the hundreds of millions of deaths to start?

Next Tuesday at 11:17am local time.

[quote] mRNA vaxx may cause your body to create prions.
Jeez, I hope not. I had them once down in New Orleans and hated them. Plus, I found out I’m allergic to shellfish.

I'll be running up my credit cards this weekend!

I do not want to sign up. What is the "evidence?"
by Anonymous | reply 124 | April 9, 2021 11:59 AM |
McCairns twitter feed cites Alex Jones.
That pretty much ends it.

You realize that everybody - EVERYBODY - has a camera/phone and the Internet, so every crackpot out there can spew their crazy ideas to the masses. That's the age we're in. The crackpots used to reach only the people who walked by them on the street corner. Now, they can go global in seconds.
by Anonymous | reply 126 | April 9, 2021 1:15 PM |
Yep, every Tom, Dick and Crackpot gets into peoples' Facebook feeds and the uninformed give them as much credence as the CDC, then decry "all the conflicting information" about the virus and the vaccine.
by Anonymous | reply 127 | April 9, 2021 2:04 PM |
"Chicoms", indeed. How the fuck do complete loons/extreme right operatives like R118 find their way to Datalounge, anyway?

I have a question for people who are against the COVID vaccine....
Do you know that the rest of us are laughing at you? Do you realize how stupid you sound?
Just curious. Carry on.

Crazy people never know they’re crazy, r129.
by Anonymous | reply 130 | April 11, 2021 12:44 AM |
Fortunately, this virus has proven to be an intelligence test.
Let the stupid stay un-vaccinated. The virus will keep mutating until it kills them all.
Win/win

Wow ^^. You kill off one asshole—you still have one living. ^^ What’s the point.
by Anonymous | reply 132 | April 11, 2021 12:54 AM |
I’m not killing off the assholes.
The assholes are killing off themselves.
I agree they could be more efficient about it, but let’s not quibble.

I found a smoking gun in the COVID-19 origin case.
For those who have read parts of the pandemic scenario put out by John Hopkins University called "SPARS 2025-2028", PDF available at John Hopkins site, it foretells a pandemic that seems to mirror the COVID-19 outbreak, including government and media reactions, etc. If you change the timelines and start the scenario at the same time of COVID-19, it is very scary. There are still 2 years to go in this scenario, so you can see what is going to happen in advance, with COVID-19, and the vaccines.
Here is an even stranger thing, The SPARS 2025-2028 Team leader, Monica Schoch-Spana, PH.D, had written a paper that was published in 2015, called "Public Engagement and the Governance of Gain-of-Function Research". Part of the Introduction to this paper states " The White House recently called for a “robust and broad deliberative process” to assess the risks and benefits of select gain-of-function studies, pausing current experiments and further grants until new federal policy on research funding and oversight is developed.".
So, In 2015, the Obama administration put "gain of function" research on hold, and stopped all funding for it, due to it's possible dangers.
Then, Dr. Fauci went around the White House, and had the NIH, under Fauci, give the Wuhan Lab, $7 million to develop the gain of function research on a bat corona virus.
There was no "accidental leak". Fauci had publicly stated that the President (Trump) would face an unexpected sudden pandemic during his term in office. How would he know that?

J&J vaccine is now under scrutiny too for blood clotting events.
Serious cases of blood clots have been identified after people took the J&J vax!
by Anonymous | reply 135 | April 11, 2021 7:02 AM |
R134, that is not news. There had long been warnings that we were ripe for a pandemic and many protocols made for how to deal with it.
That is partly what made "the cupboard was bare" so egregious. The government under Trump knew this was a possible scenario and did not restock supplies in preparation. The cupboard should have been restocked in the first three years of his presidency, because of documents like those you cite and other similar ones.

You get rid of red deplorables but are left with blue deplorables, like R133. It’s a no-win situation.

Eventually, they will be able to fix what’s wrong with the vaccine that’s killing people and then vaccinations can resume.
by Anonymous | reply 140 | April 11, 2021 1:43 PM |
I’ll wait for the second-generation vaccines. I can’t even get an appointment in my state so I probably won’t get vaccinated maybe this year. “No appointments”, “out of stock”, it’s just impossible.
by Anonymous | reply 141 | April 11, 2021 1:54 PM |
Sadly, they can’t fix stupidity, though.
