Sexy British Baritone Singer and Music Director Mark Spyropoulos working in Italy

He was the first British singer to be part of the Vatican Sistine Chapel choir in hundreds of years singing for the Pope. Now he directs a program reviving Florentine music from the Medici archive that hasn’t been heard in hundreds of years. His grandparents came to England from Greece and he has swarthy good looks, a deep voice and sexy British accent. What do you classical world aficionados know about him, does he play on our team?

This was on CBS Sunday Morning yesterday about the program he directs in Florence.

I have nothing of note to add other than to echo the sentiment that this man is breathtakingly handsome.

by Anonymousreply 4April 5, 2021 5:04 PM

Ditto on his handsomeness. I want to lick him all over.

Greek and British, but Roman Catholic?

That's interesting.

by Anonymousreply 6April 5, 2021 7:50 PM

He's non-rhotic and pronounces the word 'singing' as 'singing'.

He wears a plug in his ear so his employers can tell him what to say/

I thought after the Pedo Pope made his disdain for our relationships known for the umpteenth time that the DL would stop creating positive threads about the Catholic Church. Evidently not.

Greek men do not age well, no matter how handsome they look when young.

by Anonymousreply 17April 6, 2021 1:32 AM

I'm sorry, R15. I saw the video and thought he was using a Cockney 'singin' instead of singing.

But I rewatched and realised I was mistaken.

by Anonymousreply 18April 6, 2021 10:06 PM

In R10's video, Mark sounds more Irish than English to my New York City ears.

by Anonymousreply 19April 8, 2021 11:52 PM

Very cute.

But, you can see the aroma of cookies wafting across his face through the entire bell ringing video.

Having spent a large part of my life in the church music biz, I'd bet dollars to donuts that he is gay -But he doesn't come across as effeminate to me. I found R1's video to be extremely interesting and was caught up in the music. Spyropoulos' beauty became secondary.

R16, I'm with you in general when it comes to the church. I have no use for Christianity. Making music in churches was a paycheck, not a passion. For many gay men a church choir is a haven, where you can be expressive and artistic without fear of being put down for it. It doesn't justify what the church has done, and continues to do, but it does explain why so many gay men end up there. If there were a secular outlet for polyphonic music, I'm sure people like us would flock to it.

I read in an interview that he used to work at Harrods -selling perfume.

'Nuff said?

by Anonymousreply 22April 9, 2021 12:47 AM

Which scent?

by Anonymousreply 23April 9, 2021 3:54 AM

Eau de crotch

by Anonymousreply 24April 9, 2021 4:25 AM

100% of church organists are gay

by Anonymousreply 25April 9, 2021 4:25 AM

I once met a straight music director at a church. Once.

by Anonymousreply 26April 9, 2021 4:28 AM

Just because he said he was straight....
