Donnie McClurkin says he’ll likely ‘be alone’ forever due to his sexuality

I’ve messed up more than I’ve had good. My past relationships were a sprinkling of everything – men and women,’ says McClurkin

Gospel singer Donnie McClurkin is opening up yet again about his sexuality, revealing in a recent episode of TV One’s Uncensored that he may end up alone for the rest of his life.

McClurkin, 61, had previously opened up years ago about his past struggles with homosexuality, which he called a “perversion,” and claimed that he was able to suppress his sexual orientation, citing his and many Christian churches’ stance on homosexuality as a sin.

He admitted that he still had urges to be with men but chose not to. Comparing homosexuality to diabetes he said, “I don’t eat sugar, but it doesn’t mean that I don’t want sugar.”

Now, the Grammy Award-winning artist says he believes his struggle over his sexuality will leave him without the family he always dreamed of.

“I didn’t know really what a woman wanted,” McClurkin said on Uncensored. “I’ve messed up more than I’ve had good. My past relationships were a sprinkling of everything – men and women.” When things get rough I go back into my safe place – my music and my ministry,” he added. “Never having a long-term relationship in my life and never being married, I chalked that up. I will probably be alone for the rest of my life as far as a mate is concerned.”

McClurkin appeared to be alluding to his 2016 relationship with gospel singer Nicole C. Mullen. After rumors swirled that the pair had been engaged, Mullen spoke out publicly to set the record straight.

“We are heading towards marriage, but we are honoring protocol 1st!,” Mullen wrote online.

“Honestly, the only thing in my life that is missing is marriage. The only thing that is missing in my life that can cause real family, is marriage. Financially, I’m there. Spiritually, I’m almost there. Emotionally, I’m getting it together,” McClurkin told faith-based TV host Matt Crouch.

But the only thing that’s missing out of everything that I’m doing locally, cross country and globally is that aspect that makes family, family — is that wife that would make man whole, that element that brings favor to man.”

McClurkin had previously written about his struggles with his attraction to men, blaming his desires on being a victim of child molestation.

“These tendencies surfaced because a broken man thrust an 8-year-old boy into this whirlwind. Thus my first sexual relationship was with a man,” said the gospel veteran. “Before I could ever know the purpose or pleasure of a woman, have my first date or even my first kiss, the wound was inflicted, and the seed was planted.”

“There may be some who will read this and resent some of the statements made about homosexuality. I understand,” McClurkin added. “Some have no desire to change this lifestyle. But there are countless numbers of people who are not happy in this lifestyle and want to be freed from it.”

Jesus said- I don't know her.

by Anonymousreply 1April 4, 2021 5:05 PM

That's sad. Self loathing is the opposite of what any divine force wants for us.

by Anonymousreply 2April 4, 2021 5:08 PM

Here’s me not giving a fuck.

by Anonymousreply 3April 4, 2021 5:09 PM

That's sad.

by Anonymousreply 4April 4, 2021 5:11 PM

“ Then Jesus said to his disciples, "Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me..”—Matthew 16:24

by Anonymousreply 5April 4, 2021 5:14 PM

Donnie, it's never too late to find love, as long as you FIX THOSE EYEBROWS.

by Anonymousreply 6April 4, 2021 5:24 PM

He's such a mess and seems to know it.

IF you can't being yourself to be in a relationship with a man, but want companionship, then be with a woman who is also looking for companionship but not sex -- it would hardly be the first time people have done had this arrangement. And then fuck men.

But, he can't just "fuck men" because he has such issues with it, so he'll always have a negative reaction if he does.

He wants so bad be "normal: and at age 61 seems to care way too much about what people think. He's never reached that true adult "fuck y'all; I'm gonna do what makes me happy."

by Anonymousreply 7April 4, 2021 5:24 PM

FTA: "[...] McClurkin, 61, had previously opened up years ago about his past struggles with homosexuality, which he called a “perversion,”[...]."

No, Donnie. The perversion is the mental and behavioral-controlling lies that you've been fed since childhood.

If there is a 'being' (god/goddess/whatever) that created and controls all life and the universe (unlikely), I bet that being is probably not as shallow-minded as humans can be about our desires and bodily functions. That 'supreme being' probably thinks about more significant things than human sexuality; e.g., whose mouth is on whose organ.

(Although, these days, a 'SB' might have Only Fans and Tik Tok accounts. All the cool gods and goddesses are doing it now.)

by Anonymousreply 8April 4, 2021 5:28 PM

He's not an unattractive 61 year old. I think he has some money. He doesn't have to be alone - on paper; but probably does "have" to because his head is so fucked up.

by Anonymousreply 9April 4, 2021 5:31 PM

There are plenty of Christian women who knowingly marry gay devout Christian men who are seriously committed to celibacy, but agree to marry women for mutual companionship and children. many churches have mixed orientation ministries for these couples. O

by Anonymousreply 10April 4, 2021 5:43 PM

More evidence that the majority of the men who are religious entertainers and TV scamvangelists are pole smokers.

by Anonymousreply 11April 4, 2021 5:47 PM

He is a sexist piece of garbage.

by Anonymousreply 12April 4, 2021 5:57 PM

Wasn't he briefly engaged or married and he has a kid? I think when that came during the phase when he was really doubling down on being "cured" of homosexuality. He seems to now be at a point where he doesn't believe it can be "cured" and he'll always struggle with it - like diabetes. Lol.

by Anonymousreply 13April 4, 2021 6:00 PM

Just sad all around. He's wasted so much of his life trying to please others but he's miserable and conflicted.

by Anonymousreply 14April 4, 2021 6:01 PM

What is it about these black mega churches and all the down low fucking going on. It's baffling. And scandalous!

by Anonymousreply 15April 4, 2021 6:01 PM

The tone of his objections to his homosexuality and life in general seemed to have changed. There's now, unsurprisingly, this huge sense of regret. He's a hot mess -- mind spinning in a hundred different directions about what to do, what to say, who to please, what he could have or should have done, and on and on. There's so many reasons NOT to feel sorry for him, but I still do a little. He's clearly fucking miserable.

by Anonymousreply 16April 4, 2021 6:07 PM

Verifictia of self-loathing size-meat?

by Anonymousreply 17April 4, 2021 6:11 PM

Who?

by Anonymousreply 18April 4, 2021 6:15 PM

Jesus, comparing us to diabetes.

Not what I wanted to read on Easter Sunday.

by Anonymousreply 19April 4, 2021 6:17 PM

Sooooo.... the desire to suck a dick is an auto-immune disease? You can get it "under control", but the desire never goes away.

This is an argument for Conversion Therapy, that's pretty compelling. lol.

by Anonymousreply 20April 4, 2021 6:47 PM

Donnie: "Jesus!" Jesus: "Donnie. Jesus, just go suck a cock!" Donnie: "But Jesus!" Jesus: " I DON"T CARE!"

by Anonymousreply 21April 4, 2021 6:56 PM

Homosexualists are naturally drawn to being evangelists due to our innate theatrical abilities. And no one knows how to rock those vestments better.

by Anonymousreply 22April 4, 2021 7:17 PM

He’s not an evangelist. He’s a singer. Or worship leader. Theologically, he is evangelical.

by Anonymousreply 23April 4, 2021 7:41 PM

Any mention of Donnie McClurkin reminds me of Sampson's hilarious stand-up, where he discusses being gay in the black church, and roasts McClurkin.

I strongly doubt any Church of God in Christ pastor would openly say the Lord “hates homosexuals.” That’s not believable if you have any experience with COGIC churches. What they say is the Lord hates homosexual sex.

by Anonymousreply 25April 4, 2021 8:39 PM

Poor deluded Donna Downer did all this to huh ownself. No sympathy.

by Anonymousreply 26April 4, 2021 8:46 PM

It's not sad, it's pathetic. Anyone who thinks a ridiculous, made up cult started by a bunch of men (i.e. any type of god-inspired religion) should control their lives is just clueless.

The number of beautiful, gay, latin or black or arab boys who've grown up so screwed up by their Catholic or Baptist or Islamic guilt that they live an unhappy, sheltered existence is what's really sad.

These religions are human fantasies that need to be exposed. Moses, Jesus, Mohammed were MEN and never, ever talked with a god.

by Anonymousreply 27April 4, 2021 9:09 PM

Oh and Happy Easter.

by Anonymousreply 28April 4, 2021 9:17 PM

Once a mess always a mess with this one.

by Anonymousreply 29April 4, 2021 10:14 PM

OP, you always start these threads and then condemn homosexuality in the comments. What's your damage?

OP=R5, R10, R23, R25.

On other threads, you've posted:

[quote]It’s a faith that says deny your self, even your sexual urges and desires, to follow and glorify Jesus Christ. It’s a religion that says the parts of you that don’t conform to the Bible must die so that you Can please God above all. It’s not a me faith; it’s a Jesus first faith. It’s not a faith for people who want to do what they want or pursue their every desire.

[quote] Jonathan and David had a platonic, brotherly relationship according to the Bible

[quote]“Tolerance” is not a Gift of the Spirit found in Galatians 5: But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness....

Etc.

by Anonymousreply 30April 4, 2021 11:39 PM

It's a pity. There was never any need for Donnie McClurkin to be alone and miserable in his religious faith, because the bible does not actually condemn homosexuality. Theological homophobia is a set of interpretations which developed during the High Middle Ages, and are currently championed by conservatives as a front in the culture wars.

by Anonymousreply 31April 4, 2021 11:53 PM

61 is a little old to still be a conflicted self-loathing hot mess. Time to get your shit together.

by Anonymousreply 32April 5, 2021 12:02 AM

[quote] What they say is the Lord hates homosexual sex.

Obviously the Lord is doing it wrong.

by Anonymousreply 33April 5, 2021 12:04 AM

I don’t even know who this guy is. Why doesn’t he just transition?

by Anonymousreply 34April 5, 2021 12:09 AM

I will always compliment Donnie McClurkin for being very candid about his childhood trauma. One of the few first black men in music who has done so and it stands out even more because he's from the old school generation that did not discuss homosexual anything. He has weaponized it at times though.

I dont think he is miserable however. Ms. Donnie has LIVED, hunty. Don't be fooled by his woe is me! I was in the black church and DM's signature song STAND and career didnt really take off until the late 90s. By that time he was already into his 40s eldergay status and it was convenient time to pack it all away for a big gospel career. Im sure he THOROUGHLY enjoyed dick and his relationships with the mens before that. He was not a bad looking guy, and he can sang. Those guys he was with probably played a big role in him getting put on too.

by Anonymousreply 35April 5, 2021 1:55 AM

Pathetic closet qween, and seems like an insufferable nutjob. And there's nothing wrong with being single.

by Anonymousreply 36April 5, 2021 1:59 AM

People like him are tortured because they care more about what someone thinks of them than what they think of themselves.

by Anonymousreply 37April 5, 2021 2:06 AM

Where does it say he cares about what people thinks?

by Anonymousreply 38April 5, 2021 3:43 AM

He’s lived his whole life carrying what others think.

by Anonymousreply 39April 5, 2021 3:44 AM

Your evidence? Where does he say he cares what others think on this?

by Anonymousreply 40April 5, 2021 3:49 AM

No, R35, I still think he's miserable. He had a great career, I totally agree that he's enjoyed plenty of great dick. But, I don't see how that fixes the fundamental source of his misery. Plenty of conflicted, unhappy of gay men have sex and have careers.

by Anonymousreply 41April 5, 2021 3:50 AM

I've known enough men like Donnie McClurkin in the black church. He wants you to think he cares a lot what other people think, but really he doesn't care that much. He more cares about that money in the bank, and now he's got it. That my darlings, is a stunt queen.

by Anonymousreply 42April 5, 2021 3:53 AM

Why would a devout Christian want you to think he cares what people think? Christianity teaches to only really care what God thinks and wants for you. Christianity teaches it’s a sin to be concerned with making people approve of you.

by Anonymousreply 43April 5, 2021 3:59 AM

This never stopped Gacy! 🤡

by Anonymousreply 44April 5, 2021 4:00 AM

Poisoned Dragon, we have the gay (or bi or pan or fluid or whatever) version of the "Y'all Need Jesus" meme here on DL.

He's always been around, but he's really ramped up the Bible-thumping lately. Probably because of Lil Nas X's new video.

(Not sure where in the Bible it says it's OK to denigrate gay men and/or constantly chase 'aesthetic bros' on Tik Tok, but that's another story....)

by Anonymousreply 45April 5, 2021 4:20 AM

[quote]Your evidence? Where does he say he cares what others think on this?

HELLO?

Sad. All the black churches need to reform. You'd think they'd get bigotry.
