I grew up in a small town with a woman who looked worse than her, she would go with any guy and this meant occasionally she would pull a pretty hot looking guy.

Season 3 sucked. In the first two seasons the police were trying to solve a murder case. It seemed unbelievable that they would devote that much time to a rape case.

And creator Chris Chibnall has practically ruined Doctor Who.

I thought her being unattractive is a plot device. If she's pretty, it's not as intriguiguing.

Broadchurch was good-- especially Season One which was excellent.

What he did to Doctor Who on the other hand ranges from tolerable to heinous.

I thought the 3rd season was awful--it seemed like they were spending the whole time telling you how police should handle rape victims after their attack. it was like a woke PSA that went on for hours and hours and hours. I stayed all the way through it (which i cannot say for the unwatchable second season), but I will not watch another season of it again.

I am so tired of being lectured to by woke TV series.

I'm not going to lie, I'm a 50 something year old female feminist and I thought exactly the same thing as OP. Anyone can be a victim of sexual violence, but it was the idea that this woman was some kind of sex symbol in the town that was obsurd.

Some forget that some guys go for easy either out of convenience or they have low self-esteem (scared of rejection). Of course, a TV show puts such a premise over the top for dramatic effect.

The actress was also in Cucumber and was much better in that show.

I watched the whole series and really enjoyed it, though I’ve forgotten most of it.

For anyone who hasn't watched BROADCHURCH is a great 1 season show. There's no reason to ever go back to it after unless you're just filling time. Olivia Coleman is great.

For season 3, they took an actress who looks ok in some settings and made her as ugly as possible. They gave her a short boys haircut which accentuates her large nose. They dressed the character in frumpy overalls a lot. No makeup. It's a plot device.

I think the problem with Broadchurch, especially Season 3, is that it’s so dark. Even Colman and Tenant were cold characters. Usually, in these types of shows there is one character or situation inserted for tension release/comic relief. It needed a scene where somebody goes to the pub and has a good time.

The first season about the pedo who was into young boys was the best. Thr other seasons sucked.

The third season sucked because the new characters they introduced were all awful people and the characters we grew to love were nowhere to be found.

Rape is not "just" an act of control/violence (though it certainly can be). It was scientifically investigated but not widely broadcast.

The first season was the best because it introduced many of us to DL fave Jonathan Bailey.

Broadchurch series one was interesting because it focused on ordinary people's reactions to a crime in their community rather than the crime solving aspect. I wasn't really up for more though.
