Doug Savant

He is a very sexy man and is my childhood crush. He was so sexy on Melrose Place and Desperate Houswives too. It is a shame he didn't have a big acting career.

I agree, OP.

He was quite cute on MELROSE and made the best of playing the underwritten, hopelessly virtuous gay character. Savant was also pretty valiant with the press: he did not disclose his own heterosexuality at first because he felt like that wasn't serving the cause of LGBT visibility. Most straight actors would have spelled it out in neon, especially back then.

I actually preferred the more seasoned, mature DS of DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES. He was sexy, funny, and goofy, and played very well off Felicity Huffman and his costars.

[quote]He has been married to Laura Leighton since May 2, 1998. They have two children.

He does a bunch of TV guest spots but not much else these days. He may not be terribly ambitious. I hope he made truckloads of money from HOUSEWIVES.

I always found him adorable. Loved him on Desperate Housewives. Such a lovable doofus on that show.

That abusive cunt closet-lesbo Lynette did not deserve Tom!

There's something incredibly charming and kind about this man. I know all actors can turn on the charm when they want, when it suits them, but I've interviewed him a few times (during the Desperate Housewives days) and he has the ability to make a person he's talking to incredibly relaxed.

R3, I ALWYAYS got So TIRED of Lynnette EMPHASIZING certain words as she TRIED AND TRIED to deliver home her POINT.

FFS, have you never watched "Masquerade" to solidify his original gay swoon-worthiness?

He’s really endearing, I also like his real life wife (Laura Leighton), they look really good together.

R7: Hmm, that looks good.

Doug has always been so good and respectful to gay people. He’s never, ever disparaged gays or his character, Matt. He’s been with Laura Leighton for over 20 years.

YAZZZ, R11!

by Anonymousreply 13April 2, 2021 2:52 PM

What an idiot.

by Anonymousreply 14April 2, 2021 2:53 PM

R14 I have watched his interview. He seems to be not very smart. But stupid people are often good in bed.

by Anonymousreply 15April 3, 2021 2:03 PM

He's kinda like a slightly hotter/more handsome Alan Tudyk... But obviously less successful and prolific.

I didn't like the Matt Fielding character very much. At first, I was happy to see a gay character, and I liked that he was understated, not flamboyant and just sort of one the group. But as things rolled along, he was pushed to the sidelines in favor of the romantic relationship dramas of the straight people, and he was really only there as a confident/sidekick who was always doing good things, and the only storyline I remember relating to him was a gay bashing. On a show full of fucked up characters, to make him the one gay guy and the one angel made him seem other than human and it bothered me as a gay kid. I associated that with the actor.

I really liked him on Desperate Housewives, though. He was a nice-guy himbo and probably one of the first older men I found really arousing. And he had faults. I also liked how the show usually showed him as an all-purpose suburban dad type but then occasionally objectified him as we see above. I think the presentation helped to make the relationship mor plausable. Lynnet was average looking and totally commanding and people wondered why the two of them were a match, but he was shown to be kind of dumb and halfway competent with poor judgment, and you could see how the two complemented one another as a couple.

I have only seen him in the two roles and he was likable in both of them.

He is also naturally thick. He has a fat ass and thick thigh.
