A very interesting thread on Madonna Truth or Dare.
Reddit: Watching Madonna’s Truth or Dare is like viewing the world through the eyes of a sociopath

Neat.

The bit about her "abusing" her manager was actually quite understandable. All she says is "fuck you". I'd be pissed if I were a performer and saw a bunch of suited republican executives sitting there with their arms folder thinking "my daughter will not be a slut like this fag hag". I'd want them gone too.
The grave stuff was just cringe
The treatment of that dancer was just horrific.

She was always high on herself, and a known cunt. Part of her schtick has always been to push buttons and make people uncomfortable. But I’m sure *woke* Madonna would edit this documentary very differently today, even though it likely shows her true personality. Back then she was edgy and cool because of Truth or Dare. Now it makes her look like Regina George.

The kids should become aware of the scene where she laughs when she hears of the makeup artist’s sexual assault and cancel her.

I mean...
- Moira kinda deserved it, lest we forget that she was thirsty enough to believe that she was going to ask the most famous woman in the world (in 1990) to be her child's godmother?
- absolutely no way was she "verbally abusing" Freddy Demann, please
- the footage from the shows has nothing to do with the documentary footage, so we don't know if she toned down "Like A Virgin" when she played Auburn Hills, but I'll go on a limb and say she didn't do the whole bit
- Oliver's not gay so he was getting abuse for being the only straight dancer; she was definitely abusing him for being a hoodrat, though
- Chris was doing his own shit and taking notes for his own memoirs so whatever he was performing graveside was also for the camera's benefit
- *did* seduce a married (and very much philandering) Antonio Banderas; the wife was a fool for going to that dinner
- Kevin Costner was acting like a hick, wtf was he even doing there? He should have just sent his kids in a car and stayed home.
- Carlton doth protest too much (about his huge penis)
- I was fairly impressed with the giving head to the Evian bottle at the time, the scene holds up
- "Generally rude, pretentious and demeaning" I mean why are you watching the movie?
I guess the original redditor sort of missed the shift in culture in the last 30 years, btu it's a sociopath's world. We just live in it.

Madonna can’t afford real pearls!

Madonna’s brother revealed that she had him driven out to their mother’s grave where she began rolling around on her grave and then turned to him and said it was his turn. He told her to go fuck herself snd walked away. It was then that he saw that she would literally do anything for attention, even using their dead mother.
Speaking of which, there seems to be this thing in the family where they’re surprised that Madonna goes on and on about their mother when she barely knew her. She also lied about going to NYC with no money and no connections. She truly is a sociopath. She’s involved in that cult where they treat her like royalty over other members because they tell her that she will live forever even after death, not to mention telling her that you control everything, even illness. It’s really for narcissistic sociopaths.

R3, she’d throw in her rape story because she knows that sells these days. Nothing is beneath her.

If Rhianna filmed a similar documentary would anyone expect better behaviour? I miss the 90's. Culturally iconic women were celebrated for their bad behaviour and it was fun. Sharon, Madonna, Courtney, Roseanne, (when she was still a democrat and fighting for minorities before being sucked into the trump-hole) Shannen Doherty, Heidi Fleiss, Sandra Bernhard. Trainwreck behaviour but it made celebrity culture fascinating and fun. I was and know of many others who were pretty inspired by the fearless brutal honesty around this time to give less of a fuck about what other people thought was weird, too real, too hysterical and emotional, too passionate or angry. It helped a lot when you were fag bashed every day of your life not just for your orientation but also your personality which was way too far past anything considered dignified masculine for most people's taste standards. These women were not "good" role models but it certainly helped you find a bit of courage to stick your middle finger up at the world.
Now we have a bunch of bloodless, pearl clutching, socially responsible PTA moms who lecture us about compassion and health and correct politics. WTF happened to our badass women? The world is so grown up and self aware and its about as thrilling as eating a vegan brownie. Now we're all inspired by to watch everything we do, say think and feel or face legal consequences and career death. We went from 1920's Berlin or last days of Rome in the 90's to the Soviet Russia and 1984 type groupthink fear state we live in today. Emma Watson is the living embodiment of the new 21st century feminine ideal. Dull as fuck.

I'm surprised this documentary hasn't been picked apart present day by the sjw police. Must be proof of Madonna's irrelevance.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | April 1, 2021 4:34 PM |
R11 yes, she's so irrelevant tha her every Instagram post receives it's own DataLounge thread and all you losers ponder every minute aspect of her life in microscopic detail and claim you aren't fans
by Anonymous | reply 12 | April 1, 2021 4:50 PM |
Oh Christ...another Madonna thread.
Why are you so obsessed with her?
I'm beginning to think it is Madonna starting these threads just to have people talk about her!
by Anonymous | reply 13 | April 1, 2021 5:00 PM |
She probably dances to the Google alerts, R13. Her next album will be nothing but synth Google alerts.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | April 1, 2021 5:02 PM |
Madonna doesn't need Google alerts to remind her that she's being talked about constantly

r12 Hi Madonna 👋 😗

[quote] If Rhianna filmed a similar documentary would anyone expect better behaviour?
Absolutely. Most people are not as vicious and fucked up in the head as Madonna.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | April 1, 2021 6:43 PM |
That’s nice, r12. Remind us when she has another hit single. lol
She’s a trainwreck. Everyone loves talking about them. That’s not translating into money or admiration.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | April 1, 2021 6:44 PM |
Warren Beatty's comment was prescient. ("She doesn't want to live off-camera, much less talk ... What point is there of existing off-camera?") Madonna's constant posts of herself are in keeping with how she was decades ago.
After Truth or Dare came out, there was an article that summed it up: Madonna doesn't want to subvert or change the existing power structure, she only wants to change her placement within that structure.
Someone like Gloria Steinem actually worked towards subverting and changing the structure.

Truth or Dare turns 30 on Monday.
How are we celebrating this weekend, DL??
A group watch???
Muriel, start popping the popcorn!!!
by Anonymous | reply 22 | May 6, 2021 2:20 AM |
Madonna is indisputably a sociopath.
A lay person could correctly diagnose her.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | May 6, 2021 2:28 AM |
Oh look, Defarto is now inhabiting the body of R10/Bropioid. Racist ideology hiding behind a long-winded, irrelevant dissertation.
So stealth.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | May 6, 2021 2:29 AM |
I was a huge fan of hers back then until I saw that movie, she came off so badly in it.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | May 6, 2021 2:30 AM |
Actually, it’s not “like” watching a psychopath,
by Anonymous | reply 26 | May 6, 2021 2:32 AM |
Madonna is a legend!
by Anonymous | reply 27 | May 6, 2021 2:33 AM |
Why did she agree to meet with Moira if she was only going to blow her off? Granted, Moira was OTT with her request.
Madonna enjoyed laughing and ridiculing the make up artist because she was overweight. She wasn't a human being in Madonna's eyes.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | May 6, 2021 3:32 AM |
R10 don't even get me started on 'girl bosses' aka church ladies without the church. Totally humorless scolds that lot.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | May 6, 2021 5:33 AM |
R11 she's a woman so she's immune. If she was a man (gay or straight) she'd have been cancelled long ago.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | May 6, 2021 5:34 AM |
Oh Dear
by Anonymous | reply 31 | May 6, 2021 5:39 AM |
She was so cruel at times. An absolute bitch.
And that's what made her interesting at the time but yeah, she's something cluster B comorbid.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | May 6, 2021 6:04 AM |
She evolved when she got into kabbalah and regressed after divorcing Guy Ritchie.

The doc Strike a Pose, that came out a few years ago, chronicles the lives of the dancers as they are now. Oliver is surprisingly anti-homophobic, Luis(my favorite) is a recovering heroin addict, Slam & Carlton have HIV. It was really good to see, especially for fans of the original film. They mention Madonna from time to time but she doesn’t appear in it.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | May 6, 2021 6:45 AM |
Both Julie Brown and the sitcom Blossom spoofed the documentary.
