I’ll start— being snarky comes naturally to us
Besides sex, what are positive things about being gay?

I loved creating my own family

Many of us have good taste in clothes, architecture, art etc.
Not the ones on Datalounge though.

Troll thread. OP has been getting his ass kicked all week. All his conservative heroes have been dragged.

My ex left me a blanket that’s super warm. I caught him taking raw loads on it one night, but then he washed it and gave it to me as I was collecting my things from his place.

The absence of pregnancy and children.

As a gay woman, the most positive thing for me is not hearing that I need a man to take care of me. You have no idea how much this idea is drilled into straight women's heads. I've seen so many women who end up with men doing just that...until the guy cheats or dies and then the woman is helpless. I promised myself when I was very young and I saw my mother, who had never worked a day in her adult life, lose EVERYTHING to my fucking dick of a father when they divorced. We even lost the house we lived in because my father decided to let it be foreclosed on.
Of course, my mother went out and found another dick to take care of her but she also ended up having to get a job for the first time in her 40's...with zero skills.
I also enjoy not having to worry about having to squeeze out crotch fruit. I don't like most kids until they hit maybe 11 but even then, I can only take so much. I never understood why anyone would want them and I was so happy I have never had to take a pregnancy test.

No strings attached sex with men who also want no strings attached sex with men.
|by Anonymous||reply 11||03/31/2021|
Not feeling obliged to get married and become a suburban homeowner and parent. Phew!
The whole hetero conformity lifestyle seems asphyxiating to me. Plus, if I were straight I'd need some explanation for my ability to sing the entire "On the Atcheson, Topeka and the Santa Fe" number from "The Harvey Girls" from start to finish.

Being relegated to the fringe makes us more capable of change, with new ideas.

Not being some poor straight sexless schmuck.
|by Anonymous||reply 19||03/31/2021|
We’re sophisticated, educated and cultured. And women have little, if any, power over us. We’ve had many gay men at the top of several highly lucrative industries that include fashion, art, music, and fine dining. We’re fabulous and there’s nothing the str8s can do about it, try as they may.

Hating women judging by DL.

Not having all these Me Too moments that are occurring atm. The whole, all Men are just potential rapists and just waiting to hit a woman. I would hate to be a straight young guy. Be in touch with emotions, be strong. Admit you are a potential rapist. Always afraid a girl will accuse you of something because you said the wrong thing. It is hard enough being human, alive or man than going through all that self hate shit. Join the Gay team. We will love you!!

Do you think metoo movement will make gaydom more attractive to the hetero male crowd? Or will there be more MGTOWs and solosexuals?
|by Anonymous||reply 30||04/01/2021|
What are these??
|by Anonymous||reply 31||04/01/2021|
For me it’s the luxury of not having children. I have a straight brother and he is absolutely miserable. Marriage and family has defeated his spirit.

The joy of saying "Fuck you" as I delete emails from the Red Cross asking for blood donations. Not sure why they keep emailing....
|by Anonymous||reply 33||04/01/2021|
MGTOW is an acronym for "Men Going Their Own Way".
MGTOW is a lifestyle where heterosexual males choose to not pursue romantic relationships with women due to an awareness of the potential negative consequences of doing so.

Marching to the beat of your own drummer and not conforming. It's a brave thing to be anything but a white, straight man in this world. The odds get stacked against you immediately. To get up every morning knowing that and still putting up a fight is admirable.

Most gay men go without sex, as they don't have a spouse or partner to roll over in bed and stick it to. Every time they're horny they have to go hunting. And good luck hooking-up online if you're over 40.
|by Anonymous||reply 51||04/02/2021|

Being Trans bitd I liked going to the bars, and in my small city they were all mixed and fun. It was like our own little secret world that str8 people didn’t control or even really know about.

As a lesbian I feel like I don’t have to make excuses for straight men’s boorish behavior or work to stay in their good graces. If we have a good rapport, fine. If we don’t, that’s fine too.
A lot of straight men flat out don’t like women and boy, does it show. Very glad I don’t have to negotiate that in a partner.
I appreciate the wit and resilience of gay men and sometimes envy their spontaneous cruising and pickups.

Not having to live with a woman.
|by Anonymous||reply 72||04/07/2021|
|by Anonymous||reply 73||04/07/2021|
In general, I'd say that we work well with women, and women enjoy working with us. Even though we know that DLers can be misogynistic, it pales in comparison to the vitriol that can come out of both straight men and women. I have to work with two very high-maintenance, aggressive women, and although I'd be very happy if they left the company, I tolerate them pretty well, while some others seem to abhor the thought of working with them. We love our strong bitchy female characters!
|by Anonymous||reply 74||04/07/2021|
I hate working for women though. Have always gotten along better with male bosses. Women can be bitchy and micromanaging.

Having a built-in detachment from the illusions and delusions of the status quo. Of course, many of us end up wanting to be a part of it, but most of us can recall having, or still have, a view from outside of the stifling and repressive bell jar.
