A new survey shows that a remedy American Jews have put their faith in for the past century may now be spreading the disease
In high school and college, I worked blue collar jobs, and I cannot recall anyone ever saying anything negative about Jews.
But as for college and in my professional career? Yeah, sure folks make anti-semitic comments.

R1, that's because a lot of those "blue collar" people probably don't even know any Jews
This study is clearly biased. OP's link seems determined to trash educated people. You can manipulate poll data to say what you want it to say

Weird comment, R2. Of course blue collar folks know people who are Jews. In fact - and grab your clutching pearls, R2 - there are even Jews who have blue collar jobs!
But back to your educated anti-semitism, R2.

[quote]The overall sample was fairly concerned about public gatherings during the pandemic, with 61% supporting the prohibition of public gatherings, whether for an Orthodox Jewish funeral or for BLM protests. Those with a four-year degree were 11 percentage points more likely to oppose these public gatherings for Jewish funerals than for BLM protests. People with advanced degrees were 36 percentage points more likely to want Orthodox Jewish funerals prohibited than BLM protests.
I watched some of the BLM protests in NYC, and knew some participants. I saw them wearing masks (for the most part) and maintaining social distance--all outdoors. You may not support BLM, but they were hardly a flashpoint for CV-19 contagion (compared to, say, any Trump rally).
Comparing this with the coverage of Orthodox funerals (or weddings, for that matter) is odd. These are large events held indoors. The Orthodox wedding that made the news last fall was indoors and included about 7000 people, not wearing masks. The public criticism was well founded.
I stopped reading the article at that point.

R4, back to your Republicanism. They think educated people are "uppity"
And you freaks don't care about Jews, which is why 75% of Jewish people vote Dem

Generally, education and religion to do not mix well together.
Education reveals the myth that is religion and therefore educated people are much less likely to be religious or believe in religion or respect religious dogma/idiosyncrasies.
I'm not going to comment about anti-Semitic attitudes.

Antipathy toward the behavior of certain Orthodox Jews (especially given their COVID behavior) hardly equates to anti-Semitism. Most secular Jews can’t stand them, either.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | April 1, 2021 8:02 AM |
Jews are seen as white and privileged and Israel the ultimate evil. Universities are shitting out twats with this mindset.

I thought this was going to cite some studies showing this to be true, but instead, it's just an article based on the premise that smart people will answer the "right way" when surveyed, making surveys useless.
[quote] anti-Semitism is associated with lower levels of education may therefore be a function of who gets caught by surveys, rather than based on an accurate relationship between education and antipathy toward Jews
There's no evidence educated people are more antisemitic. In today's world, you're dealing with a situation where antisemitism is being pushed constantly in literally every online forum and social media, and some people, even if educated -- because educated doesn't mean smart -- will buy into it. We've seen that happen with all sorts of alt-right traits.
It's worthy of study but this article is just speculation and conjecture.

[quote]For reasons we explain below, we focused on four of the seven items to generate our measure of anti-Semitism. The first item asks whether “the government should set minimum requirements for what is taught in private schools,” with Orthodox Jewish or Montessori schools given as the illustrating example. The second item asks whether “a person’s attachment to another country creates a conflict of interest when advocating in support of certain U.S. foreign policy positions,” with Israel or Mexico offered as illustrating examples. The third item asks whether “the U.S. military should be allowed to forbid” the wearing of religious headgear as part of the uniform, with a Jewish yarmulke or Sikh turban offered as illustrating examples. And the fourth item asks whether public gatherings during the pandemic “posed a threat to public health and should have been prevented,” with Orthodox Jewish funerals or Black Lives Matter (BLM) protests offered as illustrating examples.
I agree with R12 that anti-Semitism is worthy of a study, this article is just guesswork.

Educated people may know about the Nakba and sympathize with the Palestinian people as they endure decades of immiseration and oppression by Israel.
Which is considered "anti-Semitic" in some quarters.

That’s what I mean ^^. They use “Zionist” a lot around here. It’s a hate site. It is.

Perhaps, but education also affords a more secure and comfortable day to day existence. When all of a man’s material needs are satisfied he’s much less likely to bother with religion. Money obviates God.

It's because educated people are against Israel the state and its policies. It's confused, deliberately or inadvertently., with antisemitism.

I know this guy from HS who is supposedly a genius, definitely a bit on the spectrum. He has gotten very anti Semitic and thinks there’s a grand conspiracy with Jewish control of the media and Hollywood. He went to the Capital Insurrection, that’s the last activity I know of him participating in.

This is not accurate. I think many agree the some of the actions of the state of Israel are reprehensible and disturbing. But way to many use this facts to feed their hate for Jewish people. Just like Trump caging immigrant fed the Anti Americans. Smart people knows the difference.

There's two types of anti Semitism prevalent in society at the moment.
Base instinctive anti Jew hatred, based on millenniums of anti semitism.
Intellectual anti Jew hatred, where the idea that Jews are uniquely evil is articulated through evidence and history. People often use phrases like "Yes the Holocaust was appalling but Palestine".

OP may have a point. In all the debates I've had with people on this, its been the university educated that have turned out to have the most alarming views on Jewish people - often well hidden, but when you scratch the surface there is some real ugliness underneath.

Most college students aren't "educated" about race they are indoctrinated. They are obsessed with immutable characteristics but insist everyone else is prejudiced or racist.
