3-Year-Old Toddler, Missing for 3 Days, Found Alive
This is close to where I live and we’ve been following the news closely. It was below freezing, he was soaking wet and had no food or water, of course.
After more than three days of being lost in the woods, OPP say they have found a missing three-year-old boy “alive and well.”
OPP announced that three-year-old Jude Leyton, who went missing in South Frontenac, Ont., off of Canoe Lake Road, was recovered Wednesday before 4 p.m.
OPP have been searching for the boy since Sunday around noon. In a tweet, OPP said one of their emergency response team officers found the boy.
Jude was found 980 metres away from the place he was last seen, Const. Curtis Dick told Global News in an interview. This came just about an hour after police said they were reducing the number of officers dedicated to the ground search.
Police believe the toddler wandered away from Bing Retreat Sunday, a property the Leyton family owns. Search and rescue teams have been scouring the woods and water nearby ever since.
OPP say Jude is in good condition but is being checked on by paramedics. Frontenac Paramedics took Jude to Kingston General Hospital Wednesday evening by ambulance.

Was Matt Gaetz the last person to see him before he disappeared?

How does a 3-yr. old "wander away"? How far could those little legs carry him before anyone noticed?
Sounds like he was dumped.

Something’s very fishy about that story. How was he kept alive for three days?

Yeah, R5, something is off about this story.

Actually, this is relatively easy for people under 4 years old to do. They will always survive.
Once you get up to 5 and 6 year olds and up, they don’t fare as well.

R8 I think it has to do with survival instincts. And I think that modern times interfere with those instincts as a child ages.
No expert here.

Could also have something to do with the staying put vs wandering.
Staying put is said to be better for survival....younger tots might be more prone to staying put.

They found a 2 year old in 2019. Days in the woods. I’m sure the kid was scared out of his mind though. Can you imagine.
Actually he wasn’t even 2 yet. He was technically one.

so what you are saying is IF you want them to wander away you need to wait until they are older?

[QUOTE] This came just about an hour after police said they were reducing the number of officers dedicated to the ground search.
They were ready to get out the cadaver dogs.
“Mr. and Mrs. Leyton, your son’s going to be just fine.”
“Okay everybody, put on your corpse handling gloves!”

Well, another benefit to leaving your boys intact is that they have a greater chance of surviving in the wild. We joke about Canada being a backward uncut country, but they obviously know what they are doing.

That's just over a half a mile and it took them 3 days to find him?!!! Were the dogs 20 yrs old and senile?

Long ago I read a book by a woman who'd been acting in teams searching for missing people and then became a P.I. One thing I remember is that missing children walk downhill and missing adults walk uphill.

I think it’s that very little kids will stop when they get tired and go to sleep, so they don’t get as far.

My stupid shih tzu could have found him in 30 minutes.

R16, it always baffles me when this happens, but it happens a lot. There was a story about a missing kid who was found (dead) in an abandoned car that was on his family’s property, maybe 100 feet from the house.
Glad he was found, though.

There was a case in the UK a few years ago where a twelve-year-old was killed by her grandmother's paedophile boyfriend. It took the police a week to find her body in her own house, in the loft they had searched three fucking times previously.
Glad this kid was found safe, anyway.

I smell another balloon-boy type family angling for a reality show or other publicity. This story makes no sense otherwise.
