Penny Marshall directed Madonna, Rosie O'donell and Whitney during her addiction and still wrote that directing Drew Barrymore was her worst experience. Drew even made producers fire Penny's fave cinematographer because she complained she wasn't being lit correctly. Penny hadn't even want her for the part but Drew apparently struck a secret deal with the studio that bulldozed her into the part. Penny said even Amy Pascal was like this lady plays dirty. Then since the movie was coming out just a month after 9/11, Penny was able to pursuade Lorne Michaels to let Drew host. Drew agreed, attended rehearsals and then disappeared the day of the show. They had to hire ex cops to track her down and bring her in. That monologue where she praises her own courage is the most pretentious load of trash once you hear the background.

She's one of those extremely difficult people who disguise it as high fragility.

R2 Sounds like a serious kick in the hole and a clip on the ear would do her the world of good.

Drew was totally miscast in Riding with Boys... I can understand Penny Marshall being really pissed. It did the movie - nor Drew herself - any favors.

It really needs to be taken down a few notches. It's insufferable.

She doesn't have what it takes to do a talk show. No chops at all for that sort of job. Maybe it'd be different with a live studio audience, but she gives me second-hand embarrassment like crazy. Drew 's valley-girl delivery is inappropriate (voice coach, anyone?) and she's a lousy interviewer, personalizing EVERYTHING. She also isn't funny, and seems so disingenuous. Ross is truly earning his cheque for having to banter with her. In fact, he would do great with his own show; he seems kind, interested in everything, and has a quick wit,

Ross DID have his own show R24. It got cancelled fairly quickly
