Do her pigtails stink?
Pippi Longstocking (1969)
|by Anonymous||reply 67||Last Saturday at 9:16 AM|
Was Pippi magical or supernatural? I only saw the remake from the 80s and it seems like she had powers. I still remember the song.
Pippi Longstocking is coming into your world.
A freckle faced little girl for you to know, oh, oh oh.
|by Anonymous||reply 1||03/24/2021|
One of the best children's books.
|by Anonymous||reply 2||03/24/2021|
The pigtails were the least of it!?!!!
|by Anonymous||reply 3||03/24/2021|
I didn’t know the movie was in Swedish.
|by Anonymous||reply 4||03/24/2021|
Hey, DL, don't you dare badmouthing Pippi!
|by Anonymous||reply 5||03/24/2021|
Was Pippi Longstocking a Swedish book?
|by Anonymous||reply 6||03/24/2021|
I watched the series as a kid. STV filmed many Astrid Lindgren’s children’s book series. All were well done.
|by Anonymous||reply 7||03/24/2021|
R6 yes, written by Astrid Lindgren
|by Anonymous||reply 8||03/24/2021|
I thought she was some kind of child whore.
|by Anonymous||reply 9||03/24/2021|
Did you read subtitles as a kid? Or were these movies dubbed in English?
|by Anonymous||reply 10||03/24/2021|
She was my idol. At 9 years old I didn't even notice the atrocious dubbing.
|by Anonymous||reply 11||03/24/2021|
Loved it! Just loved the story and her, very different.
|by Anonymous||reply 12||03/24/2021|
This Swedish version from the 60s/70s was creepy af and the dubbing in English was the worst. Here it is dubbed in some Asian language. The “special effects” were very special.
|by Anonymous||reply 13||03/24/2021|
I’m the only pippi long stocking that counts you whores!
|by Anonymous||reply 14||03/24/2021|
It is a Surrealist masterpiece.
|by Anonymous||reply 15||03/24/2021|
I love that the Swedish movies were dubbed by what sounds like kids who were pulled off the street in Brooklyn.
|by Anonymous||reply 16||03/24/2021|
R10 subtitles but I also understand Swedish rather well
|by Anonymous||reply 17||03/24/2021|
I had the VHS and wore them out. Loved these books and the whole thing.
|by Anonymous||reply 18||03/24/2021|
Interesting. I thought she was some bum fuck, backwoods Little House on the Prairie girl.
|by Anonymous||reply 19||03/24/2021|
I heard she could suck a mean "pippi" !
|by Anonymous||reply 20||03/24/2021|
[quote]Do her pigtails stink?
A daily dip in the ocean keeps her vaginal pigtails super fresh.
|by Anonymous||reply 21||03/24/2021|
She was lesbian

[quote]Did you read subtitles as a kid? Or were these movies dubbed in English?
The movies I watched in the early 80s were dubbed.
R16’s clip brought back memories, I had forgotten about Tommy, Annika and Mr. Nilsson.
|by Anonymous||reply 23||03/24/2021|
So she does have magical powers. She makes a bed fly in the air and they travel around on it like a flying carpet.
|by Anonymous||reply 24||03/24/2021|
I saw the dubbed version as a kid in the '70s and I thought they were freaky!
|by Anonymous||reply 25||03/24/2021|
No but her pussy is naaaasty.
|by Anonymous||reply 26||03/24/2021|
Well the bitch's middle name is Mackrelmint!
|by Anonymous||reply 27||03/24/2021|
The English dub of Annika is annoying. She was always the whiny crybaby. They were always eating and laughing at stupid shit.
|by Anonymous||reply 28||03/24/2021|
Who was the bigger Swedish lez, Pippi or Greta Garbo?
|by Anonymous||reply 29||03/24/2021|
I rented the dubbed version of this in the '80s when I was a kid and I didn't love it, the dubbing was about the standard of the Emanuelle movies which appeared on Cinemax after dark which I watched a few years later...that is to say, terrible.

Does that monkey ever shit on that rat’s beer of a hairdo? I hope so.

Fucking cunting auto correct! Rat’s NEST.

Why isn’t there an Asian Pippi?
|by Anonymous||reply 35||03/24/2021|
She’s like Greta Thunberg’s whore cousin.
|by Anonymous||reply 36||03/24/2021|
Greta would be a boring Pippi. She’d just stare intensely at the camera for two hours.
|by Anonymous||reply 37||03/24/2021|
I remember watching this as a kid and thinking it was boring amd creepy
|by Anonymous||reply 38||03/24/2021|
I named my cat Pippi. It was destined, she was a handful of a cat, a bit crazy. Lived to be 19.5 years-old before putting her down last month, the vet came to the house and did it. She made a little impression of her paw for me. Still grieving.
|by Anonymous||reply 39||03/24/2021|
She’s the one who smokes pot and goes off on negroes in the books. Pipi was all sorts of problematic.
|by Anonymous||reply 40||03/24/2021|
Sorry, dear heart R39.
Bootsy's response made me laugh.
|by Anonymous||reply 41||03/24/2021|
Poor Pippi cat! Sorry! :(
She probably stuck around so long to live up to her name!
|by Anonymous||reply 42||03/24/2021|
IIRC, in the books Pippi was strong enough to deadlift her pony.
She also smoked pipe tobacco.
She also snorted black tar heroin, although I may have that confused with another children's book character.
|by Anonymous||reply 43||03/24/2021|
That was the latest remake, Pippispotting, a redux of Trainspotting.
Is there a trans porn parody called Transpotting?
|by Anonymous||reply 44||03/24/2021|
Most things swedish are creepy.
|by Anonymous||reply 45||03/24/2021|
I just always found then weird when they showed up randomly on TV. It’s the kinda thing that’s fun to watch stoned.
|by Anonymous||reply 46||03/24/2021|
God, I loved Pippi Longstocking movies as a kid.
|by Anonymous||reply 47||03/24/2021|
|by Anonymous||reply 48||03/25/2021|
I remember seeing this when I was a kid in the 70s, but I must have been very young since I don’t remember anything about it other than the pigtails.
|by Anonymous||reply 49||03/25/2021|
Interesting that in 14 hours every single Youtube link has been pulled.
|by Anonymous||reply 50||03/25/2021|
The whole thing seemed very far fetched.

Greedy lutefisk-eating Volvo-driving ABBA jockeys. Time for a Black Pippi Longstocking.
|by Anonymous||reply 52||03/25/2021|
yes, Pippi had super strength. Her father did too, I don’t know if he passed on a magic spell to her from the South Seas or not. I think she could also command the wind.

The 1988 version hasn't aged particularly well. It was done on the cheap at a TV studio in Florida, and it seems like they wanted to do it as a musical but then when they found the actors they hired couldn't sing, they dubbed in these big choruses of kiddie singers singing forgettable songs that sound like late 1980s pop; the title song is the only one that's any good. It's anachronistic because everyone is dressed like they're in the mid-1950s. And they turned Pippi into a real brat instead of a smart, inquisitive child who challenges authority. Throwing ice cream at orphans? Being rude in math class? Dumping sugar on the table? And that stuff with those two burglars trying to steal Pippi's house just goes nowhere.
I haven't rewatched the Swedish-made 1970s films but even as a kid I remember those as being better and more like the books. The 1997 animated version looked pretty bad.

[quote] She was lesbian
I never thought about it as a kid, but looking back I think you're right. I suspect Tommy might have been gay too.
|by Anonymous||reply 60||Last Thursday at 7:58 AM|
The original films are surreal and super weird to see now. Really enjoyable and trippy. Sid and Marty Krofft-level weird.
There’s a great SCTV parody out there somewhere.

My husband has a lesbian co-worker who says Pippi was her first masturbatory fantasy.

R61 Here it is!

I still love the first original movie dubbed in English, weirdness and all. It started a lifelong fascination with that dreamy faraway country called Sweden. The movie isn’t anything special, really, just 3 kids running around doing kid things, but the way they do it is weird, and Pippi stands up to bullies, police, and criminals, which I like. If I recall, she goes out on a raft looking for “shpunk” — very weird girl.

I don't watch movies about sex workers.
