"Pronouns do not define me," the actor and comedian says.
Eddie Izzard on playing a male lead in Six Minutes to Midnight post-pronoun change

Then why use them?
by Anonymous | reply 1 | March 23, 2021 10:49 AM |
I’m going to just start referring to people as, “It”.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | March 23, 2021 12:29 PM |
I guess he is a "they" since he is conflicted between the two gender pronouns.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | March 23, 2021 12:36 PM |
He/her/it/they/them/whatthefuckever will be having these gender issues only as long as he/her/it/they/them/whatthefuckever has a career as an entertainer. It's all part of his/her/it/they/them/whatthefuckever shtick.

Translation:
Being referred to as what I am, a man, traumatizes me...unless there is a paycheck and/or career advancement involved. Then, the trauma magically disappears and I'm 100% fine with it.

I still remember when this arrogant prick said he was going to run to be Mayor of London. An interviewer then asked what his (as she was then a he) policies would be, and Izzard couldn't even name one, saying that'd be worked out later. Just saw the mayoralty as a vanity thing.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | March 23, 2021 1:15 PM |
He has become extremely tiresome.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | March 23, 2021 1:35 PM |
Pronouns don’t.:..but biology does.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | March 23, 2021 1:39 PM |
Isn’t he an autogynophile?

He/she/they/them is nothing if not a narcissist.

Eddie Izzard, Graham Norton and Robbie Williams all go in the "nobody here cares" category.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | March 23, 2021 2:12 PM |
It was a good film.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | March 23, 2021 3:46 PM |
He will never live down the running for mayor thing. The UK hates him with a passion.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | March 24, 2021 8:19 AM |
Okay, I should have said a lot of people hate her.
Eddie appears to have breasts now. They’re transitioning?
by Anonymous | reply 14 | March 24, 2021 8:22 AM |
Had Eddie ever explained where this all comes from? I thought he (when he was a he) said he was a transvestite, a cross dresser. There didn’t seem to be any actual gender identity issue. Surely this goes back to something in childhood. Has Eddie ever spoken about this?
by Anonymous | reply 15 | March 24, 2021 8:25 AM |
He was a crossdresser until being trans was able to get him more attention. Outside of the whole trans thing, I've never found him funny, always gave off a creepy, desperate vibe.

I'm a Guardian-reading liberal and I hate Eddie Izzard. I can't put my finger on it. Admittedly his make-up is often terrible and his jokes are rarely funny, but there's something about his attitude I just can't stand.

Eddie appears to have breasts now - r14 pic or they are not happening
by Anonymous | reply 18 | March 24, 2021 12:24 PM |
Why hasn’t he changed his name to something female?
by Anonymous | reply 19 | March 24, 2021 12:31 PM |
R19 Asking that question is literal VIOLENCE!

Just watched "Believe" on Netflix; documentary of sorts. Interspersed with a lot of Eddie Izzard talking with folks, or voiceovers. Pretty clear from the doc that the death of his mother when he was quite young knocked him for a loop. Even stated that there's times when he believes something he says or does will bring her back. I think he is brilliant. Also think he is arrogant, and confused, and deeply wounded and inconsistent. But never boring. And I've never read or heard of him being intentionally mean or insensitive to anyone, famous or not. A complicated, ultimately sympathetic character. Just my opinion.

Typical example of narcissistic personality disorder.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | March 24, 2021 8:46 PM |
Losing his mother at a young age really fucked this guy up. He is so traumatized about his mother’s death that he wants to be her. Bizarre.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | March 24, 2021 8:49 PM |
Switching when it suits you no matter what nonsense comes out of your mouth . . . how convenient.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | March 24, 2021 9:21 PM |
Semi-serious question: can someone use He/Him pronouns, look and dress like a man, and say they are a transwoman? Do any trans people do this? I feel I am. Woman but I don’t really want to deal with transitioning.

Their (?) stand up was hilarious, long ago.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | March 24, 2021 9:41 PM |
But how can 'she' play a male lead when 'she' looks so feminine?
r14/18, I don't know if he has had breast implants but I seem to recall reading that he ran some marathon wearing a breast plate, so maybe that's what it is.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | March 24, 2021 11:20 PM |
Eddie's early specials -- ESPECIALLY Dress to Kill were hilarious. But, I agree, he's become tiresome over the last 15+ years.

Social media has given some performers the 24/7 audience they crave, and, especially since COVID, shifted their focus from creating entertainment to posting crap to generate clicks.

He's the ultimate example of the celebrity who thinks they can lecture the world on politics. His contribution to the Remain campaign during the Brexit referendum was awful and self-defeating. Not to mention the stupid fucking hat.

But would he kill a fly?

Physically he appears to be turning into Quentin Crisp.
