Had Eddie ever explained where this all comes from? I thought he (when he was a he) said he was a transvestite, a cross dresser. There didn’t seem to be any actual gender identity issue. Surely this goes back to something in childhood. Has Eddie ever spoken about this?

He was a crossdresser until being trans was able to get him more attention. Outside of the whole trans thing, I've never found him funny, always gave off a creepy, desperate vibe.

I'm a Guardian-reading liberal and I hate Eddie Izzard. I can't put my finger on it. Admittedly his make-up is often terrible and his jokes are rarely funny, but there's something about his attitude I just can't stand.

Just watched "Believe" on Netflix; documentary of sorts. Interspersed with a lot of Eddie Izzard talking with folks, or voiceovers. Pretty clear from the doc that the death of his mother when he was quite young knocked him for a loop. Even stated that there's times when he believes something he says or does will bring her back. I think he is brilliant. Also think he is arrogant, and confused, and deeply wounded and inconsistent. But never boring. And I've never read or heard of him being intentionally mean or insensitive to anyone, famous or not. A complicated, ultimately sympathetic character. Just my opinion.

Eddie's early specials -- ESPECIALLY Dress to Kill were hilarious. But, I agree, he's become tiresome over the last 15+ years.

Social media has given some performers the 24/7 audience they crave, and, especially since COVID, shifted their focus from creating entertainment to posting crap to generate clicks.

He's the ultimate example of the celebrity who thinks they can lecture the world on politics. His contribution to the Remain campaign during the Brexit referendum was awful and self-defeating. Not to mention the stupid fucking hat.
