Do you like the prospect? She had a small but important role in the the last two fifty shades of grey films but nothing since. Has she got what it takes to return to the silver screen or television screens?
Could Kim Basigner have a renaissance in her acting career and make a big comeback in Hollywood?
by Anonymous | reply 62 | March 22, 2021 6:35 PM |
She has agoraphobia (afraid to leave the house.) I think that limits the roles she takes.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | March 21, 2021 9:00 PM |
That ship passed after LA Confidential.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | March 21, 2021 9:02 PM |
She could hardly move her face in that Fifty Shades movie I saw. Turkey neck with smooth, mannequin face.
It was creepy to watch.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | March 21, 2021 9:07 PM |
She's been out of the game forever it seems like. I think she is great when cast in the right part, but she doesn't have a huge range. I've always liked her though.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | March 21, 2021 9:11 PM |
r1 I was not aware of that!š²
r2 Wasn't she much lauded for her role in LA Confidential?
by Anonymous | reply 5 | March 21, 2021 9:13 PM |
No. She's a lousy actress with limited range.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | March 21, 2021 9:15 PM |
It's rare for actors (especially women) to have career renaissances in their middle-age. Michelle Pfeiffer managed to do it in her late-50s, but she's also an exponentially better actress than Kim. Kim is also almost 70 at this point, plus she is riddled with mental health problems.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | March 21, 2021 9:19 PM |
r7 By mental health problems are you meaning more than her agoraphobia?
by Anonymous | reply 8 | March 21, 2021 9:59 PM |
Iām nearly 40 years old and I still havenāt figured out: Is it āBaa-sin-jurā or āBay-singer?ā
by Anonymous | reply 9 | March 21, 2021 10:08 PM |
She's too busy staying at home, rubbing her hands together, and cackling maniacally while watching the downfall of Alec and "Hilaria".
That gives her more satisfaction than any movie role or award every could!
by Anonymous | reply 10 | March 21, 2021 10:11 PM |
Not many people like her, she was a real cunt back in the day. The media excused Alec's poor behavior, but not hers.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | March 21, 2021 10:11 PM |
r10 Oh is the bad blood and shade between them that serious?
by Anonymous | reply 12 | March 21, 2021 10:13 PM |
R12, are you serious? Itās been alleged Alec was emotionally and physically abusive throughout their marriage. They did not have an amicable divorce.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | March 21, 2021 10:15 PM |
R8 she has said before that she is pathologically shy, to the point that she would pass out in school if the teacher called on her in class. I don't know what kind of mental health issue that is, but it's something; that, plus the agoraphobia. The two are probably interconnected.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | March 21, 2021 10:21 PM |

Ryan Murphy would be a good fit for her.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | March 21, 2021 10:24 PM |
She did that dreadful Fifty Shades movie a few years ago.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | March 21, 2021 10:25 PM |
She had that scandal back in the day for supposedly buying a town that went under or some shit.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | March 21, 2021 10:25 PM |
Sheās on Instagram. I have a soft spot for her. Sheās seems nice enough.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | March 21, 2021 10:26 PM |
Sheās never blown me away as an actress but I find her inherently likable.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | March 21, 2021 10:28 PM |
She sang a bit too.
Her and Demi were alike in some ways. They both had successful careers in Hollywood and were both married to equally famous men.
I canāt imagine what it must have been like being married to Alec Baldwin. Yikes!
by Anonymous | reply 21 | March 21, 2021 10:30 PM |
Why would someone so pathologically shy go into modeling and then acting? It doesn't make sense.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | March 21, 2021 10:35 PM |
R22 She probably developed that pathology after fame and a few close encounters. Iām sure she has some stories to tell.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | March 21, 2021 10:37 PM |
r13 I knew it was an acrimonious divorce but I wasn't aware of the details.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | March 21, 2021 10:51 PM |
r16 A good suggestion me thinks.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | March 21, 2021 10:53 PM |
The world is still waiting for "The Divorcing Woman", a belated but hilarious sequel to her Razzie nominated "The Marrying Man".
by Anonymous | reply 26 | March 21, 2021 11:04 PM |
r26 Do I detect sarcasm?!šš
by Anonymous | reply 27 | March 21, 2021 11:39 PM |
I think she can be very good depending on the role. She can be quite a good comedic actress (Nadine, Blind Date) and drama (9 1/2 Weeks, L.A. Confidential).
by Anonymous | reply 28 | March 22, 2021 12:20 AM |
She always bored me to tears any time I saw her on TV or in the movies.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | March 22, 2021 12:35 AM |
R9, it's Bay-singer
by Anonymous | reply 30 | March 22, 2021 12:37 AM |
She followed up LA Confidential with a string of flops
by Anonymous | reply 31 | March 22, 2021 12:38 AM |
r31 Just flops commercially or flops critically as well?
by Anonymous | reply 32 | March 22, 2021 2:11 AM |
She used to come into a restaurant I worked at in New York in the early 2000s alone almost daily. Drank Pinot Grigio on ice usually 3 or 4 glasses. Always tipped $50 dollars. Very nice and polite but very much to herself.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | March 22, 2021 2:17 AM |
r32, from what I remember they bombed critically and commercially
by Anonymous | reply 34 | March 22, 2021 2:19 AM |
Thanks for clarifying r34
by Anonymous | reply 35 | March 22, 2021 2:23 AM |
Her performance in L.A. Confidential is no more than competent. It certainly wasn't Oscar-worthy compared to Julianne Moore in Boogie Nights.
I did like her as Eminem's mom in 8 Mile.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | March 22, 2021 2:33 AM |
I canāt believe SHE has an Oscar.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | March 22, 2021 3:42 AM |
Julianne was the definite standout in the category but at least that ghastly old lady from Titanic didn't win. The whole movie was terribly acted from top to bottom. Billy Zane, the mustache twirling villain, Kathy Bates as a sassy fat Molly Brown that didn't really exist with that characterization, Winslet a fine actress at her worst reciting the most insipid corny lines and man child playing dress up DiCaprio. It's seriously insulting it won so many Oscars for what was essentially a technical achievement. Not a creative one.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | March 22, 2021 3:47 AM |
Cant act and still resembles a dude!
by Anonymous | reply 39 | March 22, 2021 3:53 AM |
R38 well it was one hell of a technical achievement and a massive hit. People didnāt go to see Titanic multiple times for the writing or acting. I had no qualms with its Oscar take. LA Confidential wouldāve been a great best pic winner ordinarily. Two great films, but it depends what you prefer in your best pic winner. Kim was a weak best supporting actress winner, but I think the Boxing Helena lawsuit, plus a pretty face proving she can act cemented her win.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | March 22, 2021 3:59 AM |
This woman was NEVER an actress.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | March 22, 2021 4:03 AM |
The Sweet Hereafter was my favorite film of 1997 and LAC would be second but i would've preferred Sarah Polley have won BSA for her devastating work in the film. I think Roger Ebert tried to stump for her in the Memo To Th Academy specials they used to do.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | March 22, 2021 4:03 AM |
How the fuck does she have an Oscar? I've had 8 nominations, no award and can act.
This bimbo can barely deliver dialogue.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | March 22, 2021 4:05 AM |
She and Sharon Stone were like living barbies in the 90s.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | March 22, 2021 4:07 AM |
r13 Alec Baldwin was physically abusive to just about anyone that crossed his path. He got into lots of fights and tried to start more. Definitely beat the shit out of KB.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | March 22, 2021 4:10 AM |
Baldwin was not only physically abusive but very mentally and verbally abusive as well. Alec Baldwin has never met a person he doesn't abuse in some way. He fights and makes up with his oldest daughter almost monthly
by Anonymous | reply 46 | March 22, 2021 4:13 AM |
[quote] Definitely beat the shit out
I hope she was near a toilet at the time.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | March 22, 2021 4:14 AM |
It's amazing that Alec still has a career. I mean, I do like his acting and enjoy his films, but if other people have been canceled, he definitely a top contender for cancellation.
I remember when he and Basinger made The Marrying Man. They were in the news every day, and this was pre-Internet and social media. The trials and tribulations on that film were documented daily, articles in Premiere and Movieline and I think even Entertainment Tonight covered all the drama. It hurt both of their careers for a while. Basinger rebounded with L.A. Confidential a few years later.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | March 22, 2021 4:26 AM |
I get a slightly less creepy vibe from Alec than I do from degenerate Ryan O'Neal
by Anonymous | reply 49 | March 22, 2021 4:42 AM |
Alec is also know to refer to the paparazzi 'fags'. Make no mistake this man is no 'ally' of the gay community.
And he is a supporter of pedo Woody Allen.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | March 22, 2021 5:36 AM |
r44 Did they ever compete for the same roles?
by Anonymous | reply 51 | March 22, 2021 6:16 AM |
Kim was so powerful in "angels in chains" season one Charlie's Angels
by Anonymous | reply 52 | March 22, 2021 6:42 AM |
More neuroses than an inbred poodle.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | March 22, 2021 7:28 AM |
You can see the scars behind her labia: cuntlift.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | March 22, 2021 7:33 AM |
OP, to answer your specific question: Kim Basigner can't have a renaissance until she has a career, if she even exists.
On the other hand Kim Basinger has probably retired for good, knowing that she'll never live up to the public's expectations.
by Anonymous | reply 55 | March 22, 2021 7:48 AM |
I wish Joan Cusack had won that year - she was brilliant.
by Anonymous | reply 56 | March 22, 2021 7:56 AM |
Do you see NOW how much I have suffered, DL? I, one of the greatest actors of all time, have the same number of Oscars as this talking mannequin. And in the same second-rate Supporting Actress category. This.is.why.I.NEED.to.shed.my.tears!
by Anonymous | reply 57 | March 22, 2021 9:17 AM |
Ryan Murphy could and should use her as a supporting actress in a project. Other than that, she doesn't really have the name recognition these days.
by Anonymous | reply 58 | March 22, 2021 10:36 AM |
And she was lucky to get that, R2.
by Anonymous | reply 59 | March 22, 2021 10:40 AM |
As what?
by Anonymous | reply 60 | March 22, 2021 10:40 AM |
R56 I absolutely detest that film. BUT... Cusack, Reynolds, & Brimley made it tolerable.
by Anonymous | reply 61 | March 22, 2021 10:45 AM |

r55 Whoops my bad apologies š
