Amazon is the New Craigslist Seriously, the Chinese have Ruined Amazon!

Has anyone else here begun to notice how incredibly bad it's become to trust anything on Amazon? Even if you're a Prime shopper and even if Amazon is fulfilling the orders. Items will show 10,000 five star reviews. But only after you get complete garbage do you realize, after looking at the actual reviews, it's one star after one star after one star of angry customer who has also received garbage. I've begun using Fakespot for everything, which is a pain in the ass, frankly.

Just yesterday, after ordering an UnderArmour shirt that noted it being 100% cotton, coming from the Amazon UnderArmour store, via Prime; I get some weird stretchy, see-through fabric clearly some cheap textile, not at all made by the UnderArmour company. Even worse; it was some sort of irregular. I purchased an XL, the shirt was very, very long, and would have gone nearly to my knees, like one of those big nighty t-shirts women wear.

This happens over and over again. Chinese bots boosting star ratings. When you begin looking through some of the reviews, you begin to see the broken language they're using and the absurd phrasing. Amazon has allowed the entire site to become a free-for-all, just so Bezos can make more money. They have no screening of sellers. They don't seem to verify products. It's become as risky as Craigslist. On top of it, ordering off Amazon, even when you think it's being ordered via Prime, who knows what kind of information the Chinese fake resellers are obtaining from our order information.

Will there ever be an online alternative to this fucking website? I hate to stop using it but clearly, I need to pull back.

by Anonymousreply 92March 24, 2021 3:36 PM

I once ordered some shoes that smelled so bad like toxic chemicals that I had to throw them away.

by Anonymousreply 1March 21, 2021 4:50 PM

OP, you're a racist Russian Boris! Trololololololololol!

by Anonymousreply 2March 21, 2021 4:52 PM

OP= Donald Trump.

by Anonymousreply 3March 21, 2021 4:52 PM

R2 R3 schizophrenics

by Anonymousreply 4March 21, 2021 4:53 PM

It's true OP.

But let Amazon know your experience.

At least Amazon is hassle free for returns.

by Anonymousreply 5March 21, 2021 4:55 PM

WHAT?! Fuck you r1/r3 I'm talking about the onslaught of Chinese-made and sold goods on Amazon, you piece of shit-smudged toilet paper.

by Anonymousreply 6March 21, 2021 4:55 PM

Sorry, you've been stinking up the threads on the multiple murders at the massage parlors with constant screams about how it's really the BLACKS who are killing Asians, it seems to really bother you that a white incel fuckboy is guilty of the mass murder.

So you'll excuse me if I don't think your post here about Chinese products sold on Amazon was made in good faith.

by Anonymousreply 7March 21, 2021 5:00 PM

OP, I didn't know about Fakespot and just added it to my browser.

THANK YOU

by Anonymousreply 8March 21, 2021 5:01 PM

I’ve been returning at least half of the stuff I purchase because of poor quality. I don’t trust the reviews anymore. BUT Amazon customer service is wonderful and I’ve never had a problem getting a refund.

by Anonymousreply 9March 21, 2021 5:20 PM

But doesn't it bother you to waste so much time returning poor-quality products? Their customer service isn't really wonderful if they're consistently selling you shoddy goods.

There's a reason why Amazon and dodgy Chinese companies get along so well - they're birds of a feather.

by Anonymousreply 10March 21, 2021 5:39 PM

I’ve had 3 purchases off Amazon where the item was a miniature version of what I wanted.

by Anonymousreply 11March 21, 2021 5:51 PM

OP, simply make sure that your item is “Sold by Amazon.com”. Control-F. If you can’t find that phrase on the page, don’t buy it.

That’s your responsibility.

by Anonymousreply 12March 21, 2021 5:53 PM

Check your "order history" periodically for unauthorized purchases charged to your account, and beware of Amazon's customer service remedies in resetting passwords.

by Anonymousreply 13March 21, 2021 6:17 PM

Chinese, dirty knees, look at these! 😈

by Anonymousreply 14March 21, 2021 6:18 PM

Beware of Amazon's vaunted "customer service" They will happily take your returns and issue refunds...until they wont. Too many returns will get you banned.

by Anonymousreply 15March 21, 2021 6:32 PM

R14 = Donald Trump

by Anonymousreply 16March 21, 2021 6:36 PM

Amazon has ruined so many legit companies and small businesses that make legit products. It's time you avoid this huge worldwide conglomerate whenever you can and order directly from the supplier or manufacturer. Next time go to the UnderArmour site and order from them. We're supporting a "middleman" that's ripping us off and ruining global trade.

by Anonymousreply 17March 21, 2021 6:37 PM

Fucking AMERICAN company ripping off hard working Americans just to make its CEO richer.

by Anonymousreply 18March 21, 2021 6:37 PM

UnderArmour is a fucking nightmare. They keep sending me emails even though I have unsubscribed. I've called them multiple times to tell them to get my email address off their list and still the emails keep coming.

by Anonymousreply 19March 21, 2021 6:39 PM

Bezos grew concerned when Alibaba made noise about entering the US market, and threw the Amazon doors open to Chinese and Russian vendors, who have flooded Amazon with cheap knockoffs, poorly made imitations and outright counterfeits. R17 hits the nail on the head. We all hated Walmart when they destroyed main street, and now we're seeing Amazon do the same thing writ large but no one cares.

Almost every company and legitimate seller on Amazon also has their own website and/or sells directly to stores. If you want authentic quality name-brand merchandise, buy it there.

by Anonymousreply 20March 21, 2021 7:04 PM

What do Amazon and Walmart have in common?

They both are vendors of questionable quality crap from sketchy foreign factories, treat their employees like shit, and have a devoted client base who are happy to ignore the first two commonalities.

by Anonymousreply 21March 21, 2021 8:54 PM

The Wish and AliExpress sellers have also invaded Etsy.

by Anonymousreply 22March 21, 2021 9:04 PM

Etsy has gone to shit.

by Anonymousreply 23March 21, 2021 9:11 PM

I agree about Etsy, I used to find some unique Christmas gifts. Now it’s mass made t-shirts and coffee mugs and other crap.

by Anonymousreply 24March 21, 2021 9:32 PM

For clothing at least, Amazon will sell any piece of shit that somebody will buy. Buy your clothes from legit department stores. They keep an eye on their supply chain.

I bought some high-end tee shirts from Amazon. When they arrived, they were clearly low-quality knock-offs. Amazon took the return, but when I put in a bad review, they cancelled the review and banned me from submitting another another one because I had used the "F-word".

by Anonymousreply 25March 21, 2021 9:39 PM

Amazon has been like this for a very long time . The stuff that comes from China is usually counterfeit or misrepresented in quality.

by Anonymousreply 26March 21, 2021 9:42 PM

I'd rather order from other smaller (better) stores but shipping always seems to be really high.

by Anonymousreply 27March 21, 2021 9:44 PM

Sad but true

by Anonymousreply 28March 21, 2021 9:45 PM

The problem is how Amazon stocks their fulfilment centres. Say Amazon is selling a product, and then two different storefronts on Amazon stock the same product, but both fulfil their orders through Amazon. The latter two send their stock to Amazon to store in their fulfilment centre, where Amazon stores it with their own stock of the product. But they don't segregate it.

What this means is that if you order that product from Amazon, you could well be sent an item that was sent in to Amazon from one of the storefronts. And increasingly, these items are low quality fakes. By the time Amazon realise, and take action, whoever started the storefront is long gone, along with the money. And because it's not segregated, it means it's harder to track down which storefront sent the shitty products in in the first place.

by Anonymousreply 29March 21, 2021 9:49 PM

Damn! This would explain why I got a set of shitty Hanes shirts. I guess I'm buying straight from the brand then.

by Anonymousreply 30March 21, 2021 10:08 PM

A lot of fake products and reviews on Amazon. I shop Target and Walmart online more.

by Anonymousreply 31March 21, 2021 10:11 PM

Can we start a list of the good places to shop online? I recently bought some really nice masks from Tom Bihn.

by Anonymousreply 32March 21, 2021 10:12 PM

It’s gotten to the point where I have to keep a web browser open when buying on Amazon, because I’ve inadvertently purchased too much Chinese made shit that doesn’t work.

by Anonymousreply 33March 21, 2021 10:17 PM

China is perfectly capable of manufacturing high quality, reasonably priced and sophisticated goods and has been for more than a generation.

The reason China sells cheap crap is because that's what our suppliers like Amazon and Walmart contracts them to supply.

Plus.we the consumer demanded cheap stuff and we made China Great Again by insisting on the deindustrialization of huge swaths of our own economy and sending our factories offshore along with our jobs.

The vendors allowing their brands to be sold on Amazon or in Walmart want bigger profits and products must be made as cheaply as possible.

Name brands have always internationally unloaded their dud products to Walmart and Amazon .

How many times have you heard my Levi jeans only cost $19.99 at Walmart and you paid $65. at some department store.

That's because the Levis sold at Walmart aren't the same as the ones sold at Macy's.

Same as the complaint above about UnderArmour and other products - its made specifically for Amazon or some big box dumping ground.

by Anonymousreply 34March 21, 2021 10:18 PM

[quote]It’s gotten to the point where I have to keep a web browser open when buying on Amazon,

"I have to keep a web browser open when buying " Could you explain what you mean by that?

by Anonymousreply 35March 21, 2021 10:19 PM

You can always tell the OP/r4/ r10 , etc. is a right-wing propaganda-peddling Boris when he calls you a”schizophrenic.”

After learning that term from liberal educators on DL, it’s become his go-to comeback to anyone who questions him, just before he resorts to calling you a “worthless faggot.”

He hates Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos for being a rich and powerful liberal who donates to progressive causes. He was happy to be a useful pawn to Ex-President Toaddick McDaughterfucker, trying to extort Amazon for postal charges and handicap Amazon for Republican crony competitors like DeJoy.

As ever, the gullible OP easily mistakes McDaughterfucker’s constant scapegoating of China for the American worker’s problems, without an ounce of accountability for commercial predators like McDaughterfucker. Any lip service, impotent symbol or counter-productive trade war convinces the OP, like a good, little pawn.

But the OP would never punish McDaughterfucker for enacting the Tax Cuts and Jobs law, which protected foreign havens for evading taxes and slashed taxes for companies who outsource their manufacturing and jobs to foreign countries. The fact that McDaughterfucker’s threats and tariffs on China were followed by sweetheart deals to let Ivanka manufacture for her several companies based in China never bothered the OP.

Maybe the OP should just die in a grease fire?

First they ruined eBay. Now Amazon.

by Anonymousreply 37March 21, 2021 10:24 PM

R36 Oh yes, the oh-so-progressive Jeff Bezos who's going OTT to stop his workers unionising.

by Anonymousreply 38March 21, 2021 10:26 PM

R36 Go fuck yourself. No one cares.

The subject of this thread is a good one, an important topic to discuss.

by Anonymousreply 39March 21, 2021 10:28 PM

I bought my tits on Amazon and my a$$ on eBay

by Anonymousreply 40March 21, 2021 10:32 PM

When the price increased on a product I buy for my dog on Amazon I went directly to the company and got it for the price I was used to paying. There was a snafu and I didn't get notification from them so I called. They refunded the purchase price even though I just called to get a tracking number. Told them how much their product was selling on Amazon and they told me it was "unauthorized sellers." Looks like those "unauthorized sellers" are not selling that product on Amazon now.

by Anonymousreply 41March 21, 2021 10:38 PM

Yes! I was talking to a friend about this months ago, after I got some poor quality items. I was saying that I couldn't trust the reviews any more and that it's hard to know if I'm buying something good quality or not. Amazon does need to get a handle on their fake reviews and maybe consider taking a bunch of the floods of cheap Chinese crap off it or making it easier to tell the difference.

by Anonymousreply 42March 21, 2021 10:39 PM

“Rich and powerful liberal“ is an oxymoron. The moment you gain wealth and power, you cease to be a liberal. Period.

by Anonymousreply 43March 21, 2021 10:45 PM

I try to always make sure the product I'm buying from Amazon is sold directly from Amazon, but I'm still worried about the quality since they've made it clear they don't really care. I use Review Meta to check the validity of the product reviews, but the guy who created it recently sold it and seems to avoid saying who he sold it to, so it's probably going to be useless.

by Anonymousreply 44March 21, 2021 10:53 PM

R36 is your penis so small that you have to make comments like that?

by Anonymousreply 45March 22, 2021 12:00 AM

I ordered a $70 filing cabinet from Amazon because it looked like a quality product with a wood grain finish.

Required assembly. I was a bit excited for that part because when was the last time I had to assemble something? Felt vintage.

It is currently sitting across the room 93% assembled because the last *cheap* sections don’t fit together neatly. I looked the product assembly video and the instructions. The instructions had pieces mislabeled but I followed the video correctly. It’s just shit product.

Although I’m glad to hear the return should be seamless. I’ve been dreading the thought of disassembly for a return. But for $70 fucking dollars, I should’ve just dumpster dived Craigslist!

by Anonymousreply 46March 22, 2021 12:13 AM

I ordered a bookshelf for my mom that cost over 200 dollars, and afterward, I saw it was from China and I immediately thought well, that's gonna be a big return but shockingly it was just as they described it, and really nice but then I was reading the comments and apparently, I got lucky because some either didn't get what they ordered, or it was busted when they opened the box.

by Anonymousreply 47March 22, 2021 12:34 AM

eBay, Amazon and etsy too are full of knockoff crap and unauthorized sellers. It's a mine field, shoppers.

by Anonymousreply 48March 22, 2021 12:39 AM

What bothers me is I can’t buy just one item anymore. If it’s under $50, I need to buy two, three, six .... I just want one. I don’t have the space for storing extra shit.

by Anonymousreply 49March 22, 2021 12:44 AM

[Bold] r36 = One Post Troll. Put her on ignore and see.

by Anonymousreply 50March 22, 2021 12:47 AM

I know this is coming from my older 50's self, but I've gotten into the habit during the pandemic of doing more ordering online of things through Amazon. I have to say that doing the clothes-shopping thing online hasn't produced the best results for me. I've run into some of the situations that OP describes. Maybe it's just that I need to become savvier at picking out and ordering the better-quality merchandise. Or that I should go with my gut instinct and keep on believing that there's not a substitute when shopping for clothing to doing it in-store and checking out the fabrics, colors, sizes and overall quality (i.e., what less of it is left nowadays) in person.

by Anonymousreply 51March 22, 2021 12:53 AM

Amazon pisses me off because when I search for an item by brand name it shows me 5000 items that are not that brand, often not even the type of item and the sidebar of brand options to click are all bizarre obviously Chinese brand names. So, Amazon is in on it intentionally.

by Anonymousreply 52March 22, 2021 12:56 AM

Yep, I don't shop at Amazon anymore.

by Anonymousreply 53March 22, 2021 1:15 AM

Here’s my problem with Amazon. If you’re looking to buy a thing, there aren’t brick and mortar stores where you can just go grab one. “Just order it from Amazon!” If you need it that afternoon, tough shit.

by Anonymousreply 54March 22, 2021 9:44 AM

R54, Interestingly one of Amazon's latest ventures is "Just Walk Out" brick and mortar stores where you have a QR code scanned at the beginning, walk around, pick up your stuff and then leave without even manually scanning any of your products. No cashiers - cameras and shelf sensors monitor what you're putting in your bag and you're billed after you leave.

No idea if it'll take off and it seems to be mainly food right now.

by Anonymousreply 55March 22, 2021 11:29 AM

Always inspect all goods immediately on delivery and report any problems immediately. Be prompt.

by Anonymousreply 56March 22, 2021 12:58 PM

Yes, you have to check to see where the item is shipping from. I rarely use Amazon now.

by Anonymousreply 57March 22, 2021 1:21 PM

It seems the OP has an agenda to disparage Asians.

How does the OP know with certainty that the fake review bots are from China?

And if he's so concerned about "Chinese fake resellers" obtaining his information (I guess he's very important in society), then why does he continue to use Amazon?

by Anonymousreply 58March 22, 2021 1:41 PM

Fuck off, R58. Must you ruin every single thread with your woke Asian bullshit?

by Anonymousreply 59March 22, 2021 1:42 PM

I've heard there are these things called 'stores' where you can actually see and touch what you want to buy and that an actual person will be there- in person- to help you. This may be just a rumor though

by Anonymousreply 60March 22, 2021 2:25 PM

Yes. It's one of my main reasons for not using Amazon

by Anonymousreply 61March 22, 2021 2:32 PM

Don't buy from third-party sellers, OP. Simple AF.

by Anonymousreply 62March 22, 2021 2:37 PM

Exactly what r52 said. Amazon has gotten ridiculous with it. I can't search for anything there anymore without the results being page after page of weirdly named, cheap, made in China crap with the same photo in the listing.

by Anonymousreply 63March 22, 2021 2:38 PM

You can never be sure what you'll get when you order from Amazon. Which is why I order everything I can from somewhere else. Target, Ulta, Barnes & Noble...none of them will ship you pirated garbage.

You need to stop buying from Amazon.

by Anonymousreply 64March 22, 2021 2:45 PM

Racist troll or not, OP is expressing a long-held sentiment that I've experienced many times. I also wouldn't go so far as to say it's solely Asian countries. Amazon has been mismanaged for years and engaged in long-term negligence that has rendered it unusable. I do some work in consumer protection and Amazon is always a culprit in these types of matters. It's not a good company, that really is all that can be said. Like others have said, they simply don't police their stock to prevent fakes and they also don't monitor the reviews to make sure they're legit.

by Anonymousreply 65March 22, 2021 2:54 PM

I regularly buy those weirdly named items made in China, shipped by Amazon, because you can always return it. I've had a problem with maybe 5% of them. That's it.

Kitchen stuff, pet supplies, furniture, tech stuff, cleaning stuff (gloves, etc.), office products, etc. Very few problems.

by Anonymousreply 66March 22, 2021 2:58 PM

I recently bought masks on Amazon that said they were made in the USA. Well, the little slip that was in the box was not in English.

by Anonymousreply 67March 22, 2021 3:14 PM

I don't think it's "anti-Asian" to suggest that Chinese companies sell cheap goods. They're simply doing what any company anywhere in the world would do if they could, which is to maximize their profit by reducing costs. If someone will buy those cheap goods (like your typical Walmart/Amazon customer), they're playing the game correctly.

I think the worst you could say about the Chinese is that they're a little more cynical than most.

by Anonymousreply 68March 22, 2021 4:36 PM

Too bad R59 can't just politely answer the questions in R58.

by Anonymousreply 69March 23, 2021 1:20 AM

China is bad news.

by Anonymousreply 70March 23, 2021 1:29 AM

China basically owns the world. Have you seen their shipping ports? How many items do we own that came from China? 90% ?

I don't think the average American realizes just how significantly China has grown an over taken the American middle class.

by Anonymousreply 72March 23, 2021 4:28 AM

Wrong R71. Amazon and Walmart own the world because they are willing to buy cheap shit to sell to their customers. There was a good article years ago how Walmart bullies its vendors into selling their items to Walmart for huge discounts. If the company didn't agree Walmart would cancel the order.

by Anonymousreply 73March 23, 2021 4:38 AM

Amazon's newest bullshit - I ordered a bunch of gardening stuff, stuff I couldn't conveniently find elsewhere for delivery. Most of the items show as shipped AND NOW amazon allows sellers to ship with no tracking. Just throw that shit in the mail and hope for the best. Or, say you did anyway.

by Anonymousreply 74March 23, 2021 9:46 PM

It's always a mixed bag with Amazon, so I agree somewhat. I've had some similar experiences with clothing. It sucks. At least returns are very easy.

I think it's overall website/user interface is pretty terrible for something so many people use so much.

by Anonymousreply 75March 23, 2021 10:10 PM

agreed r75, I don't understand the shitty search function options. Ebays is fantastic and they likely have as many sales and sellers as amazon.

by Anonymousreply 76March 23, 2021 10:14 PM

Completely agree OP. It seems like they have completely abandoned any standards. Maybe this is the post-Bezos era where it’s run by corporate drones who will do anything to keep raising profits year after year after year - and ont give a crap about “reputation”. Bezos built it - now it can slowly fall apart. Like every other brand.

by Anonymousreply 77March 23, 2021 11:40 PM

I get my vitamins and supplements from them. I just went to the monthly plan while I research where I can get everything. I realize it is not going to be all at one place.

by Anonymousreply 78March 23, 2021 11:42 PM

[quote] There was a good article years ago how Walmart bullies its [sic] vendors into selling their items to Walmart for huge discounts. If the company didn't agree Walmart would cancel the order.

As opposed to all those companies that happily overpay their suppliers?

by Anonymousreply 79March 23, 2021 11:59 PM

All you have to do is look up videos of 🍗 near cities. The US infrastructure doesn't have any thing close to that.

People laughed at Chairman Mao for encouraging his countrymen to have kids, but he was right. A huge population will never be cconquered. Look at everything they're doing. They will be the light of the 21st century.

by Anonymousreply 80March 24, 2021 12:46 AM

It autocorrected a Chinese to chicken 🍗 ^

by Anonymousreply 81March 24, 2021 12:46 AM

R80, except for all the people who starved to death because China's huge population couldn't feed itself due to all the wonderful caring socialism. Of course, China also had government enforced abortions, so that fixed that problem.

by Anonymousreply 82March 24, 2021 2:24 AM

on the OLD Craigslist I scored some hot dick encounters.

Amazon can't even deliver a decent dildo.

by Anonymousreply 83March 24, 2021 2:36 AM

R79

Other companies aren't exactly generous but Wal-Mart turned squeezing suppliers into an art form.

It almost single-handedly bankrupted Rubbermaid. The business model involves getting suppliers to provide product at ridiculously low cost, which is fine as long as the suppliers' costs remain the same since selling an incredible amount of product to Wal-Mart, even at a low price, is profitable due to scale.

But if suppliers' costs go up, Wal-Mart will not consider paying more. It doesn't matter if costs increasing means the supplier will go out of business. So, the supplier is now in a position where, if they walk away from the Wal-Mart contract, they'll go bankrupt, and, if they sell at a loss to Wal-Mart, they'll go bankrupt. Wal-Mart (and, I assume, Amazon) is engaging in an unusually brutal form of capitalism that leaves good companies in ruins.

Also, suppliers, not being completely stupid, intentionally sell shitty product to Wal-Mart. The one time I shopped there, I bought Duracell batteries, and the unused batteries were completely dead within six months. Those "deals" mean the consumer is paying more in the long run.

by Anonymousreply 84March 24, 2021 2:46 AM

That's why I haven't bought anything from Amazon for a long time, number one, Jeff bezos treats robots better than his employees and he's a cheap cunt who barely donates any money to anything.

Try not to support that asshole. He doesn't need your money, buy from under armour website. Go directly to store's website. Buy from your local store. All that packaging is bad for the environment.

by Anonymousreply 85March 24, 2021 2:49 AM

WalMart deserves more credit than any other company for forcing the outsourcing of all production to China. As with every successful capitalist, they put the moral onus on someone else to be the bad guy. The families sit back and earn hundreds of millions every year by just sitting on their ass. But yeah, capitalism rewards the deserving, right? Time to reject capitalism.

by Anonymousreply 86March 24, 2021 2:53 AM

I thought companies are moving their factories away from China since covid? I know japan is...they are relying too much on china, esp medical supplies.

by Anonymousreply 87March 24, 2021 2:58 AM

If the US was strategic and had the ability to sacrifice for the the future good, we would be doing what Japan is doing. But we only care about making a buck tomorrow. And the guys who are making the money today don’t want anything to change. So in the next Covid pandemic, we will once again have no PPE and life supply chains will be screwed. We don’t learn - we just let the rich get richer,

by Anonymousreply 88March 24, 2021 3:08 AM

[quote] But if suppliers' costs go up, Wal-Mart will not consider paying more.

Well, companies that can't manufacture a product for a price that their customers are willing to pay should go bankrupt, shouldn't they? Or, should we just treat every company like GM - watch them create a shitty product that no one wants to buy, and then when they go belly up, throw a couple of trillion tax dollars at them?

Have you thought about the long-term consequences of your economic theories? Saving GM bought Obama a lot of votes with other people's money, but in the long term, it was very destructive to the U.S. economy. The reason we are in financial crisis right now is because every large company just assumes they'll get a bailout when they screw up.

by Anonymousreply 89March 24, 2021 11:39 AM

A trick on Amazon is to change the comment 'sort' to Recent. That shows the more real comments first, instead of the fake 5-star comments initially put in to increase the rating.

by Anonymousreply 90March 24, 2021 12:18 PM

I can’t believe supermarkets in nyc can no longer use plastic bags due to environmental concerns, but Amazon can drive their fleet of trucks through the city to deliver to individual door steps. On top of that, the amount of wasteful packaging is ridiculous.

Do people really buy their clothes on Amazon? I find that more shocking than the reported bad quality.

by Anonymousreply 91March 24, 2021 12:46 PM

R88 - I'm the OP, Can you explain more about "what Japan is doing"? Have they initiated legislation limiting imports? I'm curious. I would also make some sacrifices if we could get some laws that would encourage more people to buy American-made products, but also encourage more manufacturing to come back to the United States.

I'm not in the process of re-learning how to not shop on Amazon. And, it's hard. I had no idea how accustomed to it I'd become. From clothes detergent to socks to tools and basic items. I've really used the hell out of that Prime membership. But, I've also grown more outraged by all the packaging, and how much garbage I'm contributing by ordering this stuff. Amazon used to encourage you to save items to ship together. They don't do that anymore. You have have five or ten items in an order and, you'll get three one day, one the next day, two the next day, one the next day, etc., etc. And they're often in oversized boxes with yards of brown packing paper. I'm really ashamed of how much junk I've bought from them, and how much more junk I've contributed to landfill and over-burdened recycling center.
