Is there a more twisted movie? I love the ending with the dog.
Happiness (1998)

I liked this movie. I loved the title: "Happiness." And no one in the movie is anything approaching "happiness." And Philip Seymour Hoffman...this movie makes me miss him so much. He was perfect in it.

I love all of Todd Solondz films. He really knows people.

Sort of nailed Russian immigrants.

Lara Flynn Boyle was hilarious in this as the bitchy, narcissistic sister.

Helen: I'm not laughing at you, I'm laughing with you.
Joy: But I'm not laughing.

Helen: Perhaps if I had been raped as a child then I would know authenticity.

My favorite Solondz film

Yes. Memorably dysphoric.
My favorite part is the interaction between the PSM and LFB characters -- "I've had you on callback all day!".

Love it. ‘I’m not a scab. I AM a strike breaker!’
I saw it in the cinema, and still remember a woman near me audibly reacting when Lara Flynn Boyle invited Phillip Seymour Hoffman inside, she was beyond horrified.

This movie is brilliant and a perfect film for its time. This was around when everyone started talking about Clinton’s semen on Monica’s dress. It made this film seem perfectly frank.

Was this the film where PSH spooges?

I'm surprised they haven't "cancelled" this movie yet.

Yes, PSH spooges and uses cum to stick a piece of paper on a wall.
"PUMP! PUMP! PUMP!"
An unforgettable movie.

The most disturbing film is Gummo, but this one is a good film.

I love Todd Solondz. I think his best movie will always be Welcome to the Dollhouse, but his unique voice is present throughout his oeuvre. PC culture will always be his worst enemy, but I look forward to what's next. Is he not a sister?
