Joe the Asian guy was a fucking SAINT in that episode and was proof that mental fortitude is what gets you through this challenge, not your ability to make a shelter or a trap.

Sam was the ultimate CUNT to him, yet even after everything she put him through, he still managed to wish her well at the end of the episode after spending 10 days by himself and completing the challenge solo.

You could not pay me enough to be on this show. I wouldn’t participate for a million dollars. Especially the episodes that are filmed in the Amazon or the tropics.

I watched one show where the film crew was viciously attacked by killer bees.

What is the prize for being on this show? Like R7, you couldn't pay me to do this (and I am very outdoorsy). I remember one where they did a follow up of the people a month or so later where they had been devoured by sand fleas or something--permanent scarring and long term health issues were likely. Is being a reality show whore for 15 minutes worth this? I don't get it.

the ONLY episode i can remember of late that has any male eye candy, was the episode that featured 2 men and one woman, the guy was/is a personal trainer, dirty blond hair and a bit of a beard and he was nice looking enough and a nice enough lean muscled body and a great ass that the camera showed plenty of.. poor other guy was a dark haired thick black beard hairy guy not attractive at all in face or body, who was jealous of the other guy.. woman was a plain jane...

I'm sure they're compensated fairly well if they complete the entire challenge, but the contestants on these shows are trained survivalists - for them, meeting the challenge is probably reward enough for them.

There's no way I'd do it, either. Then again, I'm not a survivalist, so I'm not of that "conquering nature" mindset.

I love this show. I spent the end of last summer and the beginning of the fall binging this. I was totally immersed. I also love Alone, which has the same basic concept, but thrusts individuals into precarious environments alone.
