The weirdest thing I've always found about this case is who the fuck brings their sister to a gay orgy?

I remember when Michael Barrymore went on Celebrity Big Brother and didn't want to put a meat substitute on the shopping list for Jodi Marsh. She said, "He's got a major issue with vegetarians. Barrymore is a permanent victim, I remember how pathetic and egotistical he seemed on Big Brother. The Lubbock case has given him something to pin his career downfall on, his act was on the wane prior to the death but he can ease his ego and deny it was his fault that he was past his sell by date.

I saw articles about who Justin Merritt was but nothing mentioned he was the one who was arrested, I'm assuming that's a British legal thing.

The person arrested is a "50 year old male".

Merritt is probably the only 50 year old who was present at the party back then (when he was 30). The news articles don't say outright he was the one arrested because the police haven't announced it. But the clue to his age is what narrows it down to Merritt, hence the "Who is..." article.

I don't think it was murder. It may have been rape or it may have been dodgy sex gone awry, but I don't think anyone set out to murder anyone. He was full of drugs and alcohol, perhaps it anaesthetised him to the point where he couldn't feel the damage being done to his ass. His butt was still dilated at autopsy which suggests to me he died with whatever was put in him still in there. Awfully strange they couldn't find a cause of death. He died whilst being raped and was then thrown in the pool? With injuries like that there must have been a lot of blood.

The British has an obscured view of beauty.....Barrymore and Lubbock were not good looking.

Murder and how the victim likely suffered aside, that documentary and so much of the original coverage's homophobic slant makes me very uncomfortable.

Barrymore said in the taxi that he wanted a fuck. He was seen rubbing coke into the gums of a young straight man. Lubbock was drugged until unconscious, raped by who and god knows what, and he died during the experience and was then thrown into the pool to make it look like an accidental drowning. Case closed

There didn’t seem to be any discussion of the DNA evidence from the victim, would that go along way to figuring out at least the rape?

The father, brother and wife really didn’t add anything in the documentary to creating an image of who Stuart was at all. I don’t feel like I learned anything about him or even developed a compassionate interest in who he was from them, only learning about their grief and pain. Michael didn’t even describe what he was like or impressions about meeting him that night. And why did they keep calling him young, he was 30, it seemed like a ploy to make him seem like an innocent youth, not someone who was obviously heavily involved in illicit drug culture?

Is it really so strange to go to an after-bar party with people of the opposite sex and/or people with sexual orientations not your own? People who like PARTYING congregate, despite having other differences. At least, they did back in my day-- and my day was during the era in which this murder took place.
