Louie Anderson
I’m watching last night’s Conan. Louie is on. I looked him up on Wikipedia to see if he’s ever acknowledged being gay (he has not). Louie said he started the pandemic weighing about 380 and has gotten down to 340. He would like to get his weight down to 275.
What I thought was really interesting is that despite being the second youngest of 11 children, he revealed in 2016 on Marc Maron’s podcast that his mother gave birth to 16 children. The first child and then 2 sets of twins died in childbirth.
Also, in 1985 he was married to his high-school sweetheart for just 4 weeks.
Lastly, In 1997, Anderson was blackmailed by a man named Richard John Gordon. Gordon demanded money from Anderson, threatening to reveal to tabloids that Anderson reportedly sexually propositioned him in a casino in 1993.
Between 1997 and 1998, Anderson paid Gordon $100,000 in hush money, fearing the story would threaten his starring roles in two family-oriented series, but when Gordon's demands increased to $250,000 in 2000, Anderson's lawyer informed federal authorities. Gordon, who was 31 at the time, was arrested after leading FBI agents on a high-speed chase along Santa Monica Boulevard. Gordon was fined and sentenced to 21 months in prison.

I remember his cartoon show. It wasn't bad at all. I do not understand why he doesn't just come out , especially now. I have always enjoyed his comedy. But man, he reminds me of John Candy weight wise. Good for him for making a real effort to get it under control. I wish him luck. Seems like a nice guy

His greatest role was playing Zach Galifinakis’ mom on Baskets.
Zach was smart enough ad generous enough to realize how great Louie’s performance was and move out of the way and effectively let Louie be the star of the show.
It was an astounding performance.

He's on that god-awful game show with other has-been comedians. They pretend to laugh at others' scripted, inane jokes. It's really painful to watch.

I think by acknowledging the Mother Baskets character he's kind of stepping out of the closet... being ok being in a cross dressing role. I know he says it's based on his mother but it's a brave thing to do. I thought most of the industry already "knows" -- he seems like a nice person and he's trying to get healthier.

Yeah R4. Jon Lovitz is on that show. He is not a has-been. He was hardly an ever was.

He seems like a nice man. Sad that someone was able to blackmail him regarding consensual sex. I hope he can come out.

At this point, coming out would be a great career move for him. Surely anyone in his family who would care is dead?
I enjoyed his recurring role in the third season of "Search Party" as the washed-up defense attorney Bob Lunch. It was also great to see him pop up briefly in "Coming II America."

R8 took the words out my mouth...loved his recent appearances in Search Party and Coming 2 America.
Also, one of the best things about his portrayal of Christine Baskets (for which he won an Emmy) is that it’s just him in drag. He doesn’t go out of his way to do anything other than deliver his lines while dressed like a middle aged frau.

He was one of my favorite comedians. Genuinely and brilliantly funny. Then he got really depressing and morose. Still love him today though. Didn't Arsenio Hall out him defending himself about that Queer Nation protest in 1992?

He is still one of my favorite comedians. Yes, a big part of his standup revolved around his girth but he still managed to get in some great non-fat jokes. Louie was still doing cabaret appearances before covid. Love him. Here's an early show:

And he’s so good. Just like Candy.

Prince George looks like Louie Anderson, actually.

Where's the requisite "who's had him"?

How cute! I’d like to see a fat queen in the throne.

I would like to see him come out, and now that he is having something of a comeback maybe he will.

He is brilliant as Christine Baskets. I forget he’s Louie Anderson. I can’t heap enough praise on him for that role.

He's a ginger right? So probably a firecrotch with a pale pink hole. Yum.

There is no way in hell that Louie hasn't been a DataLounger for at least 20 years! He's probably Muriel!

The Christine Baskets character is superb. Authentic, relatable, from the heart.

If he was gay, someone on Datalounge would've told about hooking up with him

Many years ago, I saw him eating alone in a cafe on the gayest of the gay part of Santa Monica Boulevard. He was quiet but the staff obviously knew him as a somewhat regular customer.

Hmm, I thought he sort of thanked a partner in his Emmy speech.

He is in the hospital with blood cancer. Oh Louie, get up! We love you! Seriously this is the most love I've ever seen DL give a gay man.
