It’s not like somebody on a cop show became trans and they’re showing the coworkers’ reactions, while the person explores their private life at home. These are siblings who are always talking about their childhoods, and actors have been portraying them as children for a lot of the show, and it’s the third season of this coming up. They’re having to change the storyline again and again to reflect the actor’s latest real life personal revelation.

It’s the equivalent of Andrew Lincoln insisting Rick Grimes become a woman in the third season. Meanwhile, everything the character has done so far involved interacting with other people as a straight man, and this idea drops out of nowhere. That’s asking a lot of writers.

During the first season, Eliiot’s character, Vanya, was a straight woman having an affair with a man. Second season, she’s a butch lesbian. Third season, Vanya will have to be trans I guess? The whole plot of this series is already written as a comic, the character is a straight sexy bombshell super-villain, and her family is trying to pull her back to sanity. It’s a very bad miscast to begin with. Now it’s completely off the original character, to the point that plots are having to be rewritten and they’re trying to drop a modern acting character into the past, and trying to have them blend in, when they’re not even trying to blend in. It’s an ensemble show, they’re trying to write for six main characters and some important but secondary characters already, and it’s just sucking all the oxygen out of the room. It’s very plotty, they can’t really eliminate a lot of stuff for time. So you’ve got five characters acting out their plots, and one is really off and needing a lot of extra backstory they don’t have time for.

This seems like a step on the road to an eventual suicide, unfortunately.

R198, he seems really unhappy and depressed. Never smiles, never shows much expression. I saw some much older pictures where he’s smiling and acting pretty happy, but nothing really recent. He has a very flat affect.

If I was a family member, the flat affect would concern me. A lot of times when people are convinced altering their body is going to make them happy, they get the alteration and they’re still the same person with the same problems. Michael Jackson’s problems weren’t solved by getting a nose job and bleaching his skin. Every problem he had was unrelated to his appearance. Even if his plastic surgery was perfect, he still would have had issues with his childhood background of being molested and worked to death. Looks had nothing to do with it. Same with women and nose jobs and boob jobs. If you’re judging yourself by other people’s reactions to you, you’ll never be content.

How long before Elliot becomes pregnant just so he proclaim to be the first "male" actor to be pregnant?
