Drive To Survive Season 3 on Netflix out on March 19, F1 fans!
Formula One viewers, we will have one week to binge S3 of DTS before the opener in Bahrain. (We should probably have a separate thread for the season itself). 2020 was such a great year in terms of drama all the way from Melbourne being cancelled at the start of the season to Sergio Perez being signed for Red Bull Racing at the end. F1 TV's Will Buxton (a producer, I think, so don't take his word on this) says:
[quote]@ wbuxtonofficial With the embargo lifted today on reviews for season 3 of Drive to Survive, I can honestly so it's the best so far. The consistency across the series as a whole and the quality of the story telling is outstanding. The Mercedes and Ferrari episodes in particular are excellent.
[quote] The Mercedes episode is incredibly heartfelt and human, with a real gut punch ending. The Ferrari episode is also brilliantly and unexpectedly candid as the team's relationship with Sebastian deteriorates. A conversation between Seb and Christian Horner is a real wow moment, too.
[quote] The Racing Point saga is dealt with well, spread over a few episodes, and makes what was a complex situation manageable for a new audience without skirting too lightly for die hards. The second Red Bull seat and the Pierre / Alex storyline is also nicely handled.
[quote]And of course there's Romain's accident, set amidst the swirling uncertainties at the end of the year. The gravity and severity of the crash are tempered with some touching and at times humorous asides from Romain and Marion, which only serve to reinforce a racer's humanity.

there is a lot of "nudity" this year, Valteri and his manager in the nude, it was weird to be honest.

Looking forward to the new season of Drive To Survive! The drivers themselves say that the show is embellished and cringey. But it's good entertainment. I just wish we could see the bits that end up on the cutting room floor. I bet there are some gems in there.

I wish it were chronological. There was so much this year they didn't cover. Like the Williams family existing F1 and the slippery disaster that was Turkey. Yet there was a whole episode devoted to a barely-existing rivalry between Sainz and Norris which could have been edited into another episode.
The best episodes were the Ferrari one in which the PR media bitch managed to look less sympathetic than the much maligned Mattia Binotto and Episode 9 which dealt crucially covered Grosjean's crash and Checo's win rather than Russel's failure.

The principals play up to the camera so much. Christian Horner loves acting the squinty ginger weasel. I'm borderline offended that Alonso got Cyril Arbiteboul sacked because I will miss his Gallic shrugs. I love how intimidated Otmar Szafnauer was by Lawrence Stroll. "I need this signed by 12:30. Wheels up at 4:30. In the car at 4".

There should be a 2020 Part 2.

I bet Cyril Abiteboul is absolutely filthy in the sack. Damn you Nando for getting him sacked!
