Both Adele and Bey are overrated. Adele screeches to hit the high notes (yes, it’s very easy to tell) when she sings songs/ notes that are out of her contralto range. When she sticks to her zone she’s good, but she’s not the greatest that many of her fans make her out to be. I do enjoy some of her songs in which she doesn’t screech.

Amy Winehouse was another contralto voice, she had a darker and richer timbre than Adele. Most importantly Amy stayed within her vocal range.

Standards have dropped in pop music today. There are no bands making music with great musicianship as well as being catchy. Solo artists (I use the word loosely) rely on overly produced or gimmicky affects to make themselves sound special. Nothing is organic, everything is created solely as a product and as a result it doesn’t leave us in awe or emotional like pop songs of recent past. Even up to the early ‘00s you could find good songs though it was becoming a rarity.

Blue Ivy is more talented than Stevie Wonder by this metric. Little Stevie great as he was as a child prodigy performer, never won Grammy this young. Maybe Blue Ivy winning is a good thing. People will see these awards as exercises in promotion instead of genuine recognition of talent.

JFC, the kid was one of about 100 people who now are technically Grammy winners because they appeared in that video. The award was for the video, not for BI’s (or any other individual’s) performance in it. Sure, it’s bizarre and funny to think “BI has a Grammy and Diana Ross (or whomever) doesn’t,” but the award was in no way intended as a measure of the quality of Blue’s nonexistent work, on its own or compared to others’.

As for Beyoncé buying an award for her kid, maybe she WILL do that some day, if/when Blue Ivy begins writing/singing her own songs, on her own, in their entirety, such that the award is about her performance and not shared with a zillion other singers, but I sort of doubt she demanded a Best Video award for this song because she happened to have cast her kid in a small role.
