WASHINGTON — In a win for the labor movement, the House on Tuesday passed legislation that would reform labor laws and give workers more power to organize after decades of setbacks to unions.

This is a state issue. The federal government must butt out.

There are so many reasons your statement is incorrect R1, but, Boris, I'll leave you to your borscht.

R1

Employees' rights are not a "state issue", conservative scum.

Employees deserve the right to organize for their own interests regardless of the state that they reside in. We deserve health care. We deserve safe working conditions. We deserve federal protections from discrimination. And we deserve a living wage.

You are reprehensible and an affront to decency.

A thriving economy REQUIRES a strong middle class. Unions built America's middle class.

Agree with you, R4. But unions can be double edged swords. On the plus side, they work for living wages and benefits to build and maintain that solid middle class.

On the negative side, they become protection rackets for their members, making it nearly impossible to get rid of incompetent people. Union leaders do this basically to hold on to their leadership positions.

Police unions are a perfect example of a union out of control. At a link is a story about how police unions viciously go after any elected official that wants reform. In San Antonio, taxpayers actually pay for divorce lawyers for cops!!

This is why people fucking hate cops ^

And they have the nerve to vote Republican when all of the things they demand are Democratic policies.

Agree, r5. There’s a very tricky balance. Some unions are too powerful. Interestingly, some of the old-timey union people I’ve known IRL were conservative and right-wing. I did know one old guy who was pretty left, though.

I guess power is power.
