Insurrectionist traitor TWINK assaulted in prison and also tests POZ

A teen, believed to be the youngest suspect arrested in connection with the U.S. Capitol riots, has been punched by a fellow inmate and tested positive for Covid-19, defense lawyers said Monday.

Bruno Joseph Cua, 18, is asking to be released from the the Grady County Jail in Oklahoma where he's largely been in solitary confinement since being arrested on Feb. 5, defense lawyer William Zapf said in court papers seeking his client's pre-trial release.

"Mr. Cua was assaulted and then threatened by a fellow inmate over this past weekend," Zapf wrote. "We understand that the inmate struck Mr. Cua in the face with his open hand, injuring his nose, over the use of the phone, and then threatened him regarding the incident."

And on Saturday, a Covid-19 test for Cua came back positive, Zapf said, and his lawyers argued that he's ready to safely self-quarantine, perhaps at a hotel, if released.

But Assistant U.S. Attorney Kimberly Paschall argued that Cua "poses a significant danger to the community" and that his social media postings "show clearly the radicalized mind of a young man fixated on stopping the normal functional of democracy."

The "nature and seriousness of the the danger to any person or the community strongly favors detention in this matter," Paschall responded.

The prosecutor didn't address the alleged assault of Cua, who is from Milton, Georgia, while in custody. But she did cite the multiple photos taken of him during the Jan. 6 uprising at the U.S. Capitol, all appearing to show the suspect without a mask.

Prosecutors have "grave concerns about the defendant’s willingness to take precautions against the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic," according to Paschall.

Supporters of then-President Donald Trump descended on Washington and stormed the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, in hopes of stopping Congress from formally accepting now-President Joe Biden's victory.

At least five people died amid the riots, including one police officer who was injured during clashes with rioters. Two officers who were there that day have since died from suicide.

Cua had posted on his Parler account that he had planned to go to the nation's capital on Jan. 6 because "President Trump is calling us to FIGHT!,” saying, “This isn’t a joke, this is where and when we make our stand. #January6th, Washington DC,” according to a criminal complaint.

Cua faces multiple charges stemming from the Jan. 6 riot, including assault on a federal officer, disorderly conduct and entering a restricted building.

A Georgia teenager who boasted on Instagram about storming the Capitol in January begged a federal judge to release him ahead of his trial, saying his social media posts were "foolish" and that he had learned a "very painful" lesson.

Bruno Joseph Cua, 18, faces a slew of federal charges related to the January 6 insurrection, including assault on a federal officer, engaging in physical violence, violent entry or disorderly conduct, and civil disorder. He has pleaded not guilty, and a judge refused to release him on bond last month.

In a letter to Judge Randolph Moss filed March 4, Cua pleaded for the judge to show mercy and allow him to return home to his family before he stands trial in the spring. Cua apologized and said his actions didn't reflect the person he is.

"I would like to strongly assure you that I am not a danger to anyone, and I will absolutely never act on what I said. I have yearned to speak with you, to truthfully apoloigize [sic] and show you my forever changed heart," he wrote.

He continued: "I will never be the same person, jail has had its full effect me, I am completely humbled , deeply remoursefull and regretful!. After all, thats what jail is for right? Teaching people a lesson? Lesson fully received, your Honor."

Cua also said he had spent over two weeks in isolation, and noted that he had never been away from his parents for this length of time.

"I have completely lost those aggressive feelings and moved on from the entire politcal idea. I was wrong," Cua wrote.

Cua is believed to be the youngest suspect charged in the Capitol siege. His lawyers have emphasized his age and relative immaturity in their requests for the judge to release him on bond.

"Bruno Cua is an impressionable eighteen-year-old kid," his lawyers wrote in one court filing. "In many ways, he is less of an 'adult' than many other teenagers. He has never lived away from his parents. he has lived his entire life in the area immediately surrounding Atlanta, Georgia."

The lawyers added that Cua was "very scared and very remorseful," and "wholly regrets his action on January 6 and fully recognizes the utmost seriousness of the charges."

But prosecutors have painted Cua as a violent, active participant in the siege. The criminal complaint shows multiple screenshots pointing out Cua's positions in the Capitol building, and even the Senate chamber.

Screengrabs from the complaint show Cua holding what appeared to be a baton, and shoving a US Capitol police officer in plainclothes.

The complaint also accused Cua of bragging about violence that day, posting an Instagram story saying, "Yes, we physically fought our way in." Other posts from Cua's alleged Parler account said, "President Trump is calling us to FIGHT" and that January 6 was when Trump supporters had to "make our stand."

"It's time to take our freedom back the old fashioned way," another Parler post said.

According to an Insider database, Cua is just one of more than 310 people who have been charged in the Capitol siege as of early March.

Shoving someone isn’t “violent”; otherwise a lot of people shopping on Black Friday or boarding public transportation would also be violent. I thought they would have video of him beating someone or destroying property.

I hope that 'very painful' lesson involved being sodomized. I feel that the insurrectionists are an assault on the morality and dignity of America. If they didn't understand the disgraceful and disgusting nature of their depraved, offensive actions as they were violently attacking the Capitol and purposefully injuring public servants they probably cannot be rehabilitated. He should never again enjoy the privilege of freedom.

by Anonymousreply 74March 11, 2021 5:04 AM

I wonder how his parents feel having encouraged his thinking, sheltered him from other viewpoints, and supported his actions...and now he is in jail. Does he want to disown them? He should be angry at them for their influence over him that led to him being in this situation.

by Anonymousreply 78March 11, 2021 5:53 AM

So let me understand Mom and Dad's role 1) They live outside of Atlanta and he works for a large multinational company. They home school their son. We don't know why but I bet it is because of religion, or they don't want their precious son exposed to liberal teachings or have to associate with other minorities. 2) Since they home-school him, do they not have knowledge of what he is doing. It is not like they drop him off at school where he could have become associated with some less than law-abiding citizens. Since he is homeschooled, Mom and Dad must have endorsed this "Trumpster" propaganda. 3) He was driven to the event by Mom and Dad. When they returned to the Atlanta area (about an 8-hour trip), did they not discuss what he had done during the "protest"? They must have discussed that he entered the Capitol and the actions he took. The parents have never expressed outrage at their son's behavior. They just want to ask for forgiveness. BS 4) I bet Mom and Dad are card-carrying law and order right-wingers. It is likely that they never gave a rat's ass about prison life until now. They only saw those "criminals" off the street and away from their privileged social network of fellow homeschoolers that go to a segregated white church on Sunday where the minister preaches against those liberals and promotes Trumpism. 5) I bet Mom and Dad do not support change in the criminal justice system where people of color are given stricter sentences and jailed for minor convictions.

So, yes the young man needs to pay the price for what he did. No special treatment, but we need to point out the hypocrites and BAD role models that are his parents. We need to remove this young man from the bad parenting he has received from his environment and...oops, that is what they probably said about the young black man caught with a minor amount of marijuana who they would say that he had bad parents, terrible schools and no role models. Well, Mom and Dad, the shoe seems to fit for you!

R110 fuck off. Seriously why are Asians the group everyone feels so comfortable being racist against?

by Anonymousreply 112March 11, 2021 6:23 PM

He is an excellent example of why I do not agree with home schooling.

by Anonymousreply 113March 11, 2021 7:17 PM

Hard to believe this is the same twink.

That little doggie at R114 is so cute!

The twink's tenderness with his pup, really belies the nasty Deplorable MAGAT treasonous traitor that lies within him.

by Anonymousreply 116March 12, 2021 6:32 AM

The tenderness with the dog is striking. I just wonder how much he really understood being so rabid concerning the MAGA cause. I think it may have been his parents' more than him and he was just spewing out and acting upon what he heard at home....which seemed to be his only reference to "reality". Not excusing him...just a thought.

Does he have a coin slot?

by Anonymousreply 118March 12, 2021 3:43 PM

He's definitely cuter than Q Shaman...and no horrible ink.

by Anonymousreply 119March 12, 2021 7:24 PM

An orangutan is cuter than QAnon Shaman.

Getting ready for the big Jan. 6 event:

On December 8, 2020, Cua was cited for violating Milton, Georgia's public disturbance ordinance after driving around the parking lot of Birmingham Falls Elementary in Milton while blaring an air horn with a giant Trump flag attached to his truck. He told police that the children watching him at the time were his younger brother and his friends. He often drove a large pickup truck up and down the street while blaring an air horn and waving a Trump flag, his neighbors said on February 8, 2021.

He sounds like a fucking little homeschooled cunt, R121.

I'm so glad the little shit got LOCKED UP!

by Anonymousreply 122March 15, 2021 3:31 PM

He's out for the time being.....

No guns at the “insurrection” is a big clue.

Charges will be dropped a few hours after Biden attacks Iran, and any mention of 6 Jan 2021 will be scrubbed from the internet.

OP Stop misappropriating the word “poz”, just say that he’s positive for Covid

by Anonymousreply 126April 5, 2021 4:49 AM

Privileged little twat gets privileges. News at 11:00.

[quote] OP Stop misappropriating the word “poz”,

The slender young man should NOT be allowed to use our word!

by Anonymousreply 128April 5, 2021 4:55 AM

[Quote]Cua’s attorneys counter that he’s a sheltered, vulnerable and impressionable teenager whose “view of the outside world largely revolved around social media”

It would be a rape of justice if he is allowed to get away with this. He needs to be prosecuted to the hilt.
