Actually, as I get older, whenever I eat McDonald's or Burger King, I feel gross about 30 minutes later. I"ve stopped

Agreed, OP. I don't love much of their food (except the fries), but many of their items are pretty good, like their Buttermilk Chicken Sandwich or Homestyle Burger. And I'm a sucker for the McRib.

McDonald's has great deals on their app. Free fries on Friday, buy one regular priced item, get one for .25 cents. You can't beat those deals. I usually eat there once or twice a week.

I only eat fast food on road trips. There are a LOT of godforsaken towns out there on forlorn stretches of the interstate (esp. in Western states) with no other options.

Don't eat beef very often but, enjoy a McDonald's quarter pounder with cheese which are made when you order them a couple of times a month and less frequently White Castle sliders with an order of their crinkle cut fries. YUM!

The breakfast sandwiches are good if you don’t mind a sodium overload. Not good food otherwise. If you have any health issues you really can’t eat fast food. I have it a few times a year usually when traveling and a I don’t miss it or crave it.

The only thing McDonald's has not fucked up is their soft drinks, and even those taste watered down. The food is shit.

In the last 10 years I've eaten in a fast food joint maybe once.

The McD in my town is always busy and I live in liberal land. We have tons of great restaurants with premier chefs, even in the local diners there are so many of them, but people still like the convenience of fast food.

I don't get it often but did drive thru recently and got the new crispy chicken sandwich and fries. The sandwich was good and so were the fries but they covered the plate and I ate them all and had a stomach ache later. I couldn't believe how many fries they gave me. It felt so decadent.

I only like MdDonalds in spring or fall, and for takeout, and only certain McDonalds in certain cities, where they use superior ingredients. I haven't eaten at McDonalds in years, probably decades. Their corporate policies are causing illegal burning of the Amazon.

I still hate McDonalds. Just because I go there for the cheapest greasy eats once or twice a month, doesn't mean I don't feel physically unwell to various degrees afterward.

For burgers here, we opt for Harvey's (overall), Wendy's (for grease), A&W (for variety, onion rings). For others, we opt for Subway (its bad but nearby), Mucho Burrito (a bit pricier).

McDonalds is the weakest of anything except maybe that one Burger King we went to that was an actual stereotype shithole ran poorly by idiot high schoolers.

Try to generally avoid fast food anyway. There's other options. There's taking a couple hours a week to prepare a week of small meals. Etc.

Their fries give me a sore throat and their regular chicken sandwich is too spicy.

I don't think DL ever claimed "most" people hate chain fast food. It was more that the rarified gays of DL don't like it - because they're not the common, pedestrian, fly-over people who do. Yet, this never seems to hold up when there's threads about fast food chains - plenty of DLers seem to have at least some affinity for it and also seem to know an awful lot about it.

The last time I went to a McDonald’s, I watched an employee pick at his beard with one hand and scroll through his dirty phone with the other...right before grabbing my food and putting it in the bag once it was ready. That was over a year ago. It was so disgusting I threw away my food as soon as I left the building...although in hindsight I should’ve given it to a homeless person.

McDonalds food is positively gross. They should be embarrassed at what they call a hamburger - from a restaurant that is primarily a burger restaurant. And their they are not cheap for a meal either. I do not enjoy McDonald's, other than their coffee. I rarely ate at McDonalds or Burger King, but in graduate school, we were assigned to read FAST FOOD NATION and it wigged me out. After seeing the associated documentary, I've never returned other than for coffee or to use the rest room.

Please note McDonald's offers 'shakes'. There's a legal reason they're called 'shakes' and not 'ice cream shakes' or 'milk shakes', just 'shakes'.
