The biopic of Gore Vidal starring Kevin Spacey?
Does anyone really want to?

No, because Christopher Plummer's dead. Zing!

I prefer Lesley.

When Spacey's scandal hit, "Gore" had finished principal photography but was in the beginning stages of editing. Then Netflix shut everything down. The film was never finished. Even ADR hadn't been completed. So the film is dead unless someone buys it and edits it.

But Jules Andrews is alive. He can play the role in drag. It would be fitting for him to have his last film role be the author of [italic]Myra Breckinridge[/italic] when his first film role was a character whose name is an anagram for Myra. He won an Oscar even though he won it for the wrong gender.

Will Spacey ever have a comeback?
by Anonymous | reply 6 | March 16, 2021 3:15 PM |
Nope. And from what I hear he doesn't want one.

The thing about Kevin Spacey is he wasn't an actor you liked. You might have respected his work, but him... there was really nothing. He was a talented actor, not a popular star. So he isn't missed. And he wasn't [italic]that[/italic] good. So there's no comeback to particularly want.

I’d watch it. He’s a great actor and if you say you didn’t jerk off to him in American Beauty at least once you’re a liar.

I disagree. I guess it depends on how you see actors. If you see them as “distance friends” that you keep up with via gossip, then maybe. But I don’t know actors and never will. All I care about is whether they’re any good onscreen. And he was.

Sorry, I was too preoccupied with Rick Schroder‘s ass on [italic]NYPD Blue[/italic] to notice or care.

Must admit I'd love to see it. Vidal was a clever witty sacred monster, and Spacey doubtless channelled not a few of those dark energies.
Doubtless TPTB see the project as damaged goods, but I hope it sees the light of day some time. Niche semi-underground status till then.
