Actually, yes. I am jealous.

Well there is no need to be, R1. It can be found at your nearest high-end grocery store.

R2
Every RiteAid, Duane Reade, CVS, Target and similar stores in NYC sells LaCroix, often on sale as well. Thus find your comment about "high end" shops rather suspicious. Even supermarkets here like Key Food (which is decidedly not upmarket) sells LaCroix.
One stocks up when on sale, which usually provides enough until next offer is on somewhere locally. LaCroix makes a nice change from Pellegrino, so switch things up now and then.

R4
No, just another entry into sparkling water market which is rather large IIRC.
For various reasons people like carbonated water, especially flavored. In old days seltzer water with maybe a twist of lime or lemon would suffice. Then came Pellegrino.... LaCroix is just riding the wave.

by Anonymous | reply 11 | March 6, 2021 2:44 AM |
I bought some tonight for the first time ever (Walgreens). When I was a kid my 5th grade teacher drank LaCroix, and since they came in bottles we joked they were wine coolers.
I got the Razz Razz Cranberry and it's pretty good. I only got it because there was no more of the flavored Pellegrinos!
Not sure what's fucking happening, but there seems to be a sparkling water shortage in the area! Today a co-worker was drinking seltzer water even though he usually drinks Perrier. Also, I managed to get one of the last few boxes of LaCroix...all the other sparkling waters were gone.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | March 6, 2021 2:44 AM |
I like my La Croix. Funny how it’s seen as an “upscale” brand when its parent, National Beverage, is best known for Shasta and Faygo which are often NOT carried where La Croix is.
Either way I prefer to support them over corporate monsters Coca Cola and PepsiCo.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | March 6, 2021 2:44 AM |
Is this really connected with Christian Lacroix?
by Anonymous | reply 14 | March 6, 2021 2:45 AM |
Why don’t Americans eat passionfruit? It’s so damn good. I can find it rarely, and it’s $3 per fruit when I can. I can buy an entire bag for $3 in many countries.

I love Polar (they have fantastic summer flavors) and Bubly. I have a Sodastream that I use to make plain from our delicious NYC tap water. Bubly makes “drops” that you can use to flavor it, and you can also use fruit, obviously.
I don’t drink soda, really....maybe a few times a year.

Shipping water around the country is wasteful, and canned sparkling water is too expensive. I use my SodaSt ream, and flavor it with True Lemon, True Lime, True Orange, True Grapefruit, or a combination of the above.
by Anonymous | reply 60 | March 6, 2021 5:49 PM |
I’m going to try the Limoncello flavor today. I’m all gussied up and heading out to my local Wegmans for an evening shopping extravaganza.
by Anonymous | reply 61 | March 6, 2021 9:36 PM |
R53 No, you're not supposed to boycott the brand (or any brand) simply because they have a Republican CEO.
But you should absolutely consider altering your spending habits when a Republican CEO / Board use their considerable personal and public profiles, wealth, and resources to advance GOP power and causes. That is, unless you hate yourself. Then by all means, keep your head in the sand.
by Anonymous | reply 62 | March 6, 2021 10:32 PM |
Also R53: Remember, the door swings both ways. The GOP and their religious cult followers want the right sanctioned under federal law to be able openly discriminate against us as so-called "religious liberty." So, you know, if you get engaged and want to order a wedding cake, you and your fiancee can be called disgusting faggots and turned away.
We can't simply go to the polls to push back on what they're trying to do. We have to recognize that we're also voting every time we spend money. Such is life in a capitalist society.
by Anonymous | reply 63 | March 6, 2021 10:38 PM |
No. We do not have to “recognize” we are voting every time we spend money. That’s just a little lie you tell yourself so you can play soldier in your head every time you don’t buy a product. The rest of the world is not registering your little tantrum as a political statement. I’m not going to waste my time keeping track of the politics of every CEO and which company owns which brands in the insane delusion that I’m somehow accomplishing anything.
by Anonymous | reply 64 | March 6, 2021 11:01 PM |

Aldis has a mixed berry that is under 3 dollars a case. I like cherry Bubly. Drink these at night since I quit alcohol. Some flavors taste like beer I think.

by Anonymous | reply 69 | March 6, 2021 11:30 PM |
r60, How often do you have to change the canister and what size do you use?
by Anonymous | reply 70 | March 6, 2021 11:30 PM |
What timing. I just had multiple cans of LaCroix explode in my fridge (in the garage). If you think they don't have a fair amount of additives, the red colored ice plastered all over my fridge says otherwise.
On a side ... whine, I would have thought a refrigerator would not only keep your food cold, but insulate against colder temperatures (within reason) from outside.
NOPE.
by Anonymous | reply 71 | March 6, 2021 11:39 PM |
R67 It seems the delusions on this topic exist solely in YOUR head. You want proof that corporate America understands their role in national politics? Look no further than the companies that immediately suspended or permanently stopped political donations and PACs in the aftermath of the Capitol riots. Companies know their consumers are also voters.
Sorry you're too lazy to see how politics and captalism intersect in America. Enjoy your La Croix, hope it pairs nicely with your rage and ignorance.

Find another commercial baker, have a friend do it, or make it yourselves.
I don't agree with those who would refuse to do it, but some secular people don't have a clue what conscience, absolutes. and damnation are to these people.
I was pleased when the SC ruled in favor of that baker, and I am gay. I come from a religious background but no longer believe in any of it, but I do understand where these people are coming from.

[quote] I come from a religious background but no longer believe in any of it, but I do understand where these people are coming from.
The problem R74 is that "these people" are in various cults called organized religion. Their views, tied up in the constructs of their churches, should have no bearing when it comes to matters of law and public policy. If "these people" think otherwise, then they can have their "churches" start paying some motherfucking taxes. Otherwise, they can kindly stay in their lane and out of our laws. I'm done being told that it's my burden to understand this shrinking minority of Americans. The burden is on THEM to get a fucking clue what country and world they are living in. Period. Full stop.
The right to freedom of religion enshrined in the First Amendment also affords the right to freedom *from* religion. Apologists for the church need to learn their fucking US history.

by Anonymous | reply 77 | March 7, 2021 3:15 AM |
Cluetrain for the OP: "naturally essenced" doesn't mean it's actually seen a passionfruit in its life. It merely means it was artificially flavoured with an ester than mimicks the natural flavour. Yes, they can get away with that in labelling. Due to an Australian farmer, Spencer Cottee, who invented a carbonated passionfruit soft drink called Passiona, the global passionfruit industry used to be significant: there were farms in Fiji, New Guinea, and Kenya. The creation of artificial ('natural') passionfruit flavour killed off most of it. Not all. Some of the French cordials still contain real passionfruit.
I used to have a passionfruit vine but it grows so fast, I prefer just to buy them at the market. Use them for passionfruit vanilla sponge and flavouring soda water. You'd be far better off doing the same than buying that crap.

The number of small flavoured water brands available in England really, really surprised me. You want a bespoke cola or an elderflower water concoction? You got it! And they're available everywhere, including places like the British Library.
It seems that in America small start-up soda water companies are too often blocked from gaining shelf space by the big brands, and die on the vine.

The hibiscus flavor is amazing.
by Anonymous | reply 82 | March 7, 2021 4:45 AM |
R81 They aren't blocked exactly. They pay the grocer for their position on the shelf. That's why P&G is in your face. The newer and more interesting brands are always on the bottom shelves where you have to make an effort. Literally why companies fail.
