I’m Hooked On LaCroix Sparkling Water

I feel so sophisticated drinking my LaCroix Passionfruit, which is naturally essenced. Jealous, bitches?

by Anonymousreply 107January 30, 2022 4:50 PM

Actually, yes. I am jealous.

by Anonymousreply 1March 6, 2021 2:23 AM

Well there is no need to be, R1. It can be found at your nearest high-end grocery store.

by Anonymousreply 2March 6, 2021 2:25 AM

The company insists on pronouncing their product L’Croy.

by Anonymousreply 3March 6, 2021 2:25 AM

Is it the diet drink of now like Tab was in the 70s?

by Anonymousreply 4March 6, 2021 2:26 AM

R2

Every RiteAid, Duane Reade, CVS, Target and similar stores in NYC sells LaCroix, often on sale as well. Thus find your comment about "high end" shops rather suspicious. Even supermarkets here like Key Food (which is decidedly not upmarket) sells LaCroix.

One stocks up when on sale, which usually provides enough until next offer is on somewhere locally. LaCroix makes a nice change from Pellegrino, so switch things up now and then.

by Anonymousreply 5March 6, 2021 2:36 AM

R4

No, just another entry into sparkling water market which is rather large IIRC.

For various reasons people like carbonated water, especially flavored. In old days seltzer water with maybe a twist of lime or lemon would suffice. Then came Pellegrino.... LaCroix is just riding the wave.

by Anonymousreply 6March 6, 2021 2:38 AM

How does it compare to Bubly?

by Anonymousreply 7March 6, 2021 2:40 AM

La Croix, Sweetie!

LA CROIX!

by Anonymousreply 8March 6, 2021 2:41 AM

Limoncello is my favorite, OP. Try it! It goes great with a splash of Grand Marnier.

by Anonymousreply 9March 6, 2021 2:42 AM

Thanks for the reminder. I need to stock up

by Anonymousreply 10March 6, 2021 2:43 AM

Uhh if you visit their world wide web page, R8, you’ll see that there’s no space.

I bought some tonight for the first time ever (Walgreens). When I was a kid my 5th grade teacher drank LaCroix, and since they came in bottles we joked they were wine coolers.

I got the Razz Razz Cranberry and it's pretty good. I only got it because there was no more of the flavored Pellegrinos!

Not sure what's fucking happening, but there seems to be a sparkling water shortage in the area! Today a co-worker was drinking seltzer water even though he usually drinks Perrier. Also, I managed to get one of the last few boxes of LaCroix...all the other sparkling waters were gone.

by Anonymousreply 12March 6, 2021 2:44 AM

I like my La Croix. Funny how it’s seen as an “upscale” brand when its parent, National Beverage, is best known for Shasta and Faygo which are often NOT carried where La Croix is.

Either way I prefer to support them over corporate monsters Coca Cola and PepsiCo.

by Anonymousreply 13March 6, 2021 2:44 AM

Is this really connected with Christian Lacroix?

by Anonymousreply 14March 6, 2021 2:45 AM

Why don’t Americans eat passionfruit? It’s so damn good. I can find it rarely, and it’s $3 per fruit when I can. I can buy an entire bag for $3 in many countries.

by Anonymousreply 15March 6, 2021 2:45 AM

I love their lemon flavor, and Talking Rain’s Black Cherry.

by Anonymousreply 16March 6, 2021 2:47 AM

OP fails to mention the Scotch chaser.

by Anonymousreply 17March 6, 2021 2:47 AM

It's so... watered down. Any generic grocery store version is better. And the name is pretentious. You just know Jay-done's mom drinks it.

by Anonymousreply 18March 6, 2021 2:50 AM

GOP drink.

OMG, R19, we must have posted at the same time! Great minds think alike.

by Anonymousreply 21March 6, 2021 2:57 AM

I'd didn't realize that it was an alcoholic beverage.

by Anonymousreply 22March 6, 2021 2:59 AM

Yup, r20!

by Anonymousreply 23March 6, 2021 3:00 AM

Carbonated beverages are bad for you if you have IBS or acrid indescretion.

by Anonymousreply 24March 6, 2021 3:07 AM

"I’m Hooked On LaCroix Sparkling Water

I believe I'm feeling schadenfreude, actually.

by Anonymousreply 25March 6, 2021 3:09 AM

How does it compare to Bubly? Which one is better?

by Anonymousreply 26March 6, 2021 3:09 AM

I found out about LaCroix by watching the new Supermarket Sweep. I can still hear Leslie Jones screaming, "GET THAT LACROIX, GIRL!!!"

by Anonymousreply 27March 6, 2021 3:11 AM

It's actually pronounced La Croy. Truth.

by Anonymousreply 28March 6, 2021 3:13 AM

Not LaCroi?

by Anonymousreply 29March 6, 2021 3:23 AM

I prefer the Kirkland brand. I stock up at Costco and buy 20 cases at a time.

by Anonymousreply 30March 6, 2021 3:25 AM

R30, you jerk. I guess people like you are why I often have to go weeks before finding a single case (it was worse earlier in the pandemic).

by Anonymousreply 31March 6, 2021 3:27 AM

R3 You mean it not pronounced “La Crotch?”

by Anonymousreply 32March 6, 2021 3:32 AM

The Lime one is really nice

by Anonymousreply 33March 6, 2021 4:18 AM

LaCroix is the worst, just awful stuff.

by Anonymousreply 34March 6, 2021 4:27 AM

OP, no one would ever be jealous of you except John List. It is rumored he was drinking LaCroix Sparkling Water shortly before his arrest.

by Anonymousreply 35March 6, 2021 4:34 AM

I quit drinking soda nearly three years ago. I only drink water and sparkling water. My favorite LaCroix flavors are Peach-Pear and Coconut. Both actually taste like these flavors.

I also love Bubbly, the Pomegranate and Mango flavors; AHA!, Blueberry; and Perrier Strawberry.

by Anonymousreply 36March 6, 2021 4:39 AM

It’s disgusting. Tastes like salt water.

by Anonymousreply 37March 6, 2021 5:15 AM

What is LemonCello and how is it different from their Lemon flavor?

by Anonymousreply 38March 6, 2021 5:15 AM

[QUOTE] I prefer the Kirkland brand. I stock up at Costco and buy 20 cases at a time.

Is that before or after you raid every sample stand, R30?

by Anonymousreply 39March 6, 2021 5:30 AM

Coconut tastes like someone wearing sunscreen washed their feet in sparkling water.

by Anonymousreply 40March 6, 2021 5:33 AM

I like the Key Lime and Limoncello. But now I'm finding out they're Republican cocks so I guess I'll find something else. Kroger brand isn't bad

by Anonymousreply 41March 6, 2021 5:33 AM

I like Polar Seltzer. Especially Cranberry Lime. Seems like it's slightly less common than La Croix though - that stuff really seems to be everywhere.

by Anonymousreply 42March 6, 2021 5:36 AM

R36 is one of the gayer posts I've seen on here lately.

by Anonymousreply 43March 6, 2021 1:58 PM

R43 Why, fank you!

by Anonymousreply 44March 6, 2021 3:27 PM

[quote]have IBS or acrid indescretion.

These afflictions sound awful, R24.

by Anonymousreply 45March 6, 2021 3:33 PM

This is great. Made in USA.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 46March 6, 2021 3:44 PM

I love Polar (they have fantastic summer flavors) and Bubly. I have a Sodastream that I use to make plain from our delicious NYC tap water. Bubly makes “drops” that you can use to flavor it, and you can also use fruit, obviously.

I don’t drink soda, really....maybe a few times a year.

by Anonymousreply 47March 6, 2021 3:56 PM

How very 2010.

by Anonymousreply 48March 6, 2021 3:59 PM

by Anonymousreply 52March 6, 2021 4:20 PM

So we’re supposed to boycott a brand because its CEO is Republican? You’re as bad as they are.

by Anonymousreply 53March 6, 2021 4:28 PM

LaCroix is for people who think Jell-o and Hamburger Helper are the epitome of taste and sophistication.

by Anonymousreply 54March 6, 2021 4:38 PM

Bullshit. It’s for people who think it’s tasty.

by Anonymousreply 55March 6, 2021 4:54 PM

Sparkling water from cans. How vulgar.

by Anonymousreply 56March 6, 2021 5:20 PM

Well, Pellegrino comes in plastic bottles now....

by Anonymousreply 57March 6, 2021 5:24 PM

Pellegrino’s “essence” water comes in cans. Small, thin cans, but still.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 58March 6, 2021 5:35 PM

I love the Hibiscus an key lime flavors.

by Anonymousreply 59March 6, 2021 5:42 PM

Shipping water around the country is wasteful, and canned sparkling water is too expensive. I use my SodaSt ream, and flavor it with True Lemon, True Lime, True Orange, True Grapefruit, or a combination of the above.

by Anonymousreply 60March 6, 2021 5:49 PM

I’m going to try the Limoncello flavor today. I’m all gussied up and heading out to my local Wegmans for an evening shopping extravaganza.

by Anonymousreply 61March 6, 2021 9:36 PM

R53 No, you're not supposed to boycott the brand (or any brand) simply because they have a Republican CEO.

But you should absolutely consider altering your spending habits when a Republican CEO / Board use their considerable personal and public profiles, wealth, and resources to advance GOP power and causes. That is, unless you hate yourself. Then by all means, keep your head in the sand.

by Anonymousreply 62March 6, 2021 10:32 PM

Also R53: Remember, the door swings both ways. The GOP and their religious cult followers want the right sanctioned under federal law to be able openly discriminate against us as so-called "religious liberty." So, you know, if you get engaged and want to order a wedding cake, you and your fiancee can be called disgusting faggots and turned away.

We can't simply go to the polls to push back on what they're trying to do. We have to recognize that we're also voting every time we spend money. Such is life in a capitalist society.

by Anonymousreply 63March 6, 2021 10:38 PM

No. We do not have to “recognize” we are voting every time we spend money. That’s just a little lie you tell yourself so you can play soldier in your head every time you don’t buy a product. The rest of the world is not registering your little tantrum as a political statement. I’m not going to waste my time keeping track of the politics of every CEO and which company owns which brands in the insane delusion that I’m somehow accomplishing anything.

by Anonymousreply 64March 6, 2021 11:01 PM

And yet boycotts do work...

by Anonymousreply 65March 6, 2021 11:03 PM

[quote] It can be found at your nearest high-end grocery store

Yes. Like Kroger, or Walmart.

by Anonymousreply 66March 6, 2021 11:05 PM

Not boycotts that exist solely in your head.

by Anonymousreply 67March 6, 2021 11:07 PM

Aldis has a mixed berry that is under 3 dollars a case. I like cherry Bubly. Drink these at night since I quit alcohol. Some flavors taste like beer I think.

by Anonymousreply 68March 6, 2021 11:15 PM

I can drink sa gallon. Also Perrier and Pellegrino.

by Anonymousreply 69March 6, 2021 11:30 PM

r60, How often do you have to change the canister and what size do you use?

by Anonymousreply 70March 6, 2021 11:30 PM

What timing. I just had multiple cans of LaCroix explode in my fridge (in the garage). If you think they don't have a fair amount of additives, the red colored ice plastered all over my fridge says otherwise.

On a side ... whine, I would have thought a refrigerator would not only keep your food cold, but insulate against colder temperatures (within reason) from outside.

NOPE.

by Anonymousreply 71March 6, 2021 11:39 PM

R67 It seems the delusions on this topic exist solely in YOUR head. You want proof that corporate America understands their role in national politics? Look no further than the companies that immediately suspended or permanently stopped political donations and PACs in the aftermath of the Capitol riots. Companies know their consumers are also voters.

Sorry you're too lazy to see how politics and captalism intersect in America. Enjoy your La Croix, hope it pairs nicely with your rage and ignorance.

[quote] if you get engaged and want to order a wedding cake, you and your fiancee can be called disgusting faggots and turned away.

Find another commercial baker, have a friend do it, or make it yourselves.

I don't agree with those who would refuse to do it, but some secular people don't have a clue what conscience, absolutes. and damnation are to these people.

I was pleased when the SC ruled in favor of that baker, and I am gay. I come from a religious background but no longer believe in any of it, but I do understand where these people are coming from.

Go ahead and call me a self-hating homophobe.

Sorry to go off topic, but R63 raised the issue.

[quote] some secular people don't have a clue what conscience, absolutes. and damnation are to these people.

[quote] I come from a religious background but no longer believe in any of it, but I do understand where these people are coming from.

The problem R74 is that "these people" are in various cults called organized religion. Their views, tied up in the constructs of their churches, should have no bearing when it comes to matters of law and public policy. If "these people" think otherwise, then they can have their "churches" start paying some motherfucking taxes. Otherwise, they can kindly stay in their lane and out of our laws. I'm done being told that it's my burden to understand this shrinking minority of Americans. The burden is on THEM to get a fucking clue what country and world they are living in. Period. Full stop.

The right to freedom of religion enshrined in the First Amendment also affords the right to freedom *from* religion. Apologists for the church need to learn their fucking US history.

by Anonymousreply 75March 7, 2021 2:50 AM

I get the 24-can variety pack of flavored seltzer from CostCo. $7.99. Tastes just like Bubly and LaCroix.

by Anonymousreply 76March 7, 2021 3:01 AM

I hate the font on those cans. It's barely one step up from comic sans.

by Anonymousreply 77March 7, 2021 3:15 AM

Cluetrain for the OP: "naturally essenced" doesn't mean it's actually seen a passionfruit in its life. It merely means it was artificially flavoured with an ester than mimicks the natural flavour. Yes, they can get away with that in labelling. Due to an Australian farmer, Spencer Cottee, who invented a carbonated passionfruit soft drink called Passiona, the global passionfruit industry used to be significant: there were farms in Fiji, New Guinea, and Kenya. The creation of artificial ('natural') passionfruit flavour killed off most of it. Not all. Some of the French cordials still contain real passionfruit.

I used to have a passionfruit vine but it grows so fast, I prefer just to buy them at the market. Use them for passionfruit vanilla sponge and flavouring soda water. You'd be far better off doing the same than buying that crap.

by Anonymousreply 78March 7, 2021 3:17 AM

Here's the real deal if you like passionfruit, and for some reason, can't be bothered preparing it from the fruit.

My favorite LaCroix flavor is Apricot.

by Anonymousreply 80March 7, 2021 3:28 AM

The number of small flavoured water brands available in England really, really surprised me. You want a bespoke cola or an elderflower water concoction? You got it! And they're available everywhere, including places like the British Library.

It seems that in America small start-up soda water companies are too often blocked from gaining shelf space by the big brands, and die on the vine.

by Anonymousreply 81March 7, 2021 3:34 AM

The hibiscus flavor is amazing.

by Anonymousreply 82March 7, 2021 4:45 AM

R81 They aren't blocked exactly. They pay the grocer for their position on the shelf. That's why P&G is in your face. The newer and more interesting brands are always on the bottom shelves where you have to make an effort. Literally why companies fail.

by Anonymousreply 83March 7, 2021 9:46 AM

LaCroix sweetie!

(I know it's been already done in this thread but I HAD to do it again...)

by Anonymousreply 84March 7, 2021 9:57 AM

[QUOTE] Here's the real deal if you like passionfruit, and for some reason, can't be bothered preparing it from the fruit.

Lord have mercy, that’s got 24g of sugar per serving.

by Anonymousreply 85March 7, 2021 4:30 PM

Omg I’m finally drinking the Limoncello and it’s stupendous! How they managed to get such flavor out of something that has zero calories and no artificial sweeteners is quite a feat. What a company.

by Anonymousreply 86March 7, 2021 8:04 PM

Ahh, finishing off the day with a crisp, cold can of PassionFruit. And my body is grateful.

by Anonymousreply 87May 8, 2021 1:01 AM

LaCroix? I thought this was one of those bumped 2015 threads, but alas, OP, it is not.

by Anonymousreply 88May 8, 2021 1:06 AM

LaCroix is just as relevant today as it was in 2015, R88. If not more so.
