That was Isaac, OP. He has a sweet soul, and he gave up everything to take care of his mother and his siblings after mama had a stroke. She recovered, and he went back to school on a scholarship, but then she got uterine cancer, so he dropped out and took care of her and the kids. But the kids are now grown and should be able to take care of themselves and help out, so I don't know why he continues to cook meals for them.

Yesterday, I watched Shannon's story. My god, the woman was like the Michelin Man with all them rolls. She was a whiny mess and thought bariatric surgery was the miracle cure for her extreme obesity. She didn't expect to have to work so hard to lose all that weight.

Yes, Isaac was cute (for his size) and had a sweet personality. I definitely thought he was gay, too. I hope he continues to lose weight.

Bump. I wish just for a change, they would feature an upscale, well-educated 600-pounder instead of all these people living in squalor. The closest they ever came was one woman who had a very supportive family, including a hipster niece who rented a lovely home in Houston for them all, and prepared nice meals of salmon and salad. I wonder how that gal is doing.

"Upscale" and "well-educated" people are highly unlikely to get to 600 lbs. let alone go on TV and let the world watch you hosing off your naked flesh rolls. You have to have some serious issues to get to that size.

R5 One of the earliest episodes featured a young woman who was a costume designer for some regional theater, had a disabled adult brother. She was lovely. I wouldn’t call her upscale, but in comparison to most of the people featured she and her family were solidly middle class (had jobs) and lived in a clean, comfortable home. She was well-spoken and her voiceovers were not depressing and disjointed as most are, phonetically pronouncing every syllable. Obviously we can’t ignore the main factor to super morbid obesity in this country— socioeconomics. The lower on the ladder, the more likely for obesity. But middle class and above obese people, who are more educated and relatively well off are also less likely to seek out being on this show.

I believe R5 and R7 are talking about the same woman. Nikki. She has gained some weight back, but she seems active enough that she should remain only ever fat and not morbidly obese like before. She seems to be doing well. Have a boyfriend or maybe even husband now. She is one of the most popular episodes.

Amber, the young, Persian American woman also had a stable family life. She too seems to have mostly kept the weight off.

R6 Yes of course, I get that it would be an anomaly, which is why I'd like to see it.

And no, I remember Nikki and also the Persian (or Lebanese? Palestinian?) girl. I'm thinking of another one, she was older and doted on her nieces and nephews.

These people would not get to that weight without enablers. If my fat ass laid up in bed my parents or boyfriend wouldn’t wait on me.
