President Biden’s Approval Rating Hits 61% in New Poll

[QUOTE]Biden’s initial numbers are markedly higher than those of Trump. The first Harvard CAPS-Harris survey in February 2017 showed Trump’s approval rating at only 48%.

[QUOTE]There’s a relatively wide partisan divide in early perceptions of Biden’s presidency, with an overwhelming majority of Democrats approving of his job performance and most Republicans disapproving. Still, nearly one-third of GOP voters — 31 percent — said they approve of Biden’s handling of his job.

Fake News!

by Anonymousreply 3March 2, 2021 12:40 AM

I think he is doing pretty good and has been surprisingly strong in some matters. I just wish he wouldn't have gotten that awful plastic surgery pull. I understand his desire/need for it but it is ridiculously tight and it hurts me to look at it.

by Anonymousreply 4March 2, 2021 12:48 AM

It will look normal in six months, r4.

As for now: it's far less awful to look at than Trump's obesity, fake tan, and ridiculous comb-over.

by Anonymousreply 5March 2, 2021 12:50 AM

The covid infection rate is lowering. It could be access to the vaccines have lowered the infection rate. I'm relieved. But I'm keeping the face mask indefinitely.

by Anonymousreply 6March 2, 2021 12:51 AM

You'll get no argument there from me R5.

by Anonymousreply 7March 2, 2021 12:53 AM

I think he’s doing a great job so far, and the Republicans have done absolutely nothing to show they would do things better.

The one mistake he can make to derail his presidency would be to pass this amnesty bill for illegal immigrants that the left wants him to pass.

by Anonymousreply 8March 2, 2021 3:10 AM

He should get 100% just for not sitting on his ass upstairs watching TV and tweeting.

by Anonymousreply 9March 2, 2021 4:28 AM

Better than (just about anybody) could have hoped for... so far. If he can get the COVID Relief bill passed intact... it's a home run for his first 100 days.

by Anonymousreply 10March 2, 2021 4:37 AM

[QUOTE] The one mistake he can make to derail his presidency would be to pass this amnesty bill for illegal immigrants that the left wants him to pass.

It’s not an “amnesty bill,” R8.

by Anonymousreply 11March 2, 2021 10:37 AM

R11 Call it whatever you want, put lipstick on a pig, the point is that if he signs it, the Dems will lose both houses in congress in a landslide in 2022. The American people do not want illegal immigrants to be given legal status as a reward for breaking our laws.

by Anonymousreply 12March 2, 2021 3:58 PM

R12 Fake news, kiddo. 69% of Americans support the framework put forward in the immigration reform currently proposed.

That 31% from Repubs is pretty high.

I like the peace and quiet. I love waking up and not having the first thing I read on my phone be "Overnight, the President tweeted..."

by Anonymousreply 16March 2, 2021 5:18 PM

I see the trolls that went around shouting “this just won trump re-election” before November are now going around shouting “this just won Repugs the midterms”

by Anonymousreply 17March 2, 2021 5:21 PM

I think he's doing a good job so far. I am SO relieved that Trump is out of there.

by Anonymousreply 18March 2, 2021 5:49 PM

by Anonymousreply 19March 2, 2021 5:59 PM

Good for him. Now, if he could just get my reparation check to me before the weekend. I don't get decent pussy anymore without paying for it.

by Anonymousreply 20March 2, 2021 6:02 PM

Yeah - but I see a lot of people complaining about the Syria air strikes and not passing the $15 min wage.

Already the left is trying to eat its own. He's only been in office a short while for crying out loud - and there was NOT a transition people normally expected.

Most federal agencies are most likely in a state of disarray after the previous 4 years.

Once again, Dems are left to pick up everything after the Republican houseparty is over.

by Anonymousreply 21March 2, 2021 6:07 PM

Best vice-president ever.

Best president ever.

He will be re-elected and the 22nd Amendment, which was nothing but a Republican hatchet job against FDR's legacy to begin with, will be removed so he can be President for life like he deserves to be.

As far as I am concerned, we can get rid of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights and replace it with a single piece of paper that says "do as you're told."

by Anonymousreply 22March 2, 2021 6:48 PM

Expect 100% support for his re-election in 2024, and expect anyone who so much as questions anything he does to be locked in jail for being a deplorable.

All criticism of Joe Biden is racist, sexist, Islamophobic, heterophobic, transphobic, and ageist.

by Anonymousreply 23March 2, 2021 6:49 PM

It's great to have someone sane in the White House again. That Pres. Biden already has 31% approval from Republicans is encouraging too.

It's still hard to believe that 2016-2020 really happened.

by Anonymousreply 24March 2, 2021 7:02 PM

Try harder, R22/R23. One wants a scalpel for these things, not a sledgehammer.

You do sarcasm like a kindergartener.

by Anonymousreply 25March 2, 2021 7:04 PM

I agree r24. It feels wonderful to have Biden and Harris, both of whom are sane and competent professionals, in the White House. My anxiety level has decreased and I feel a sense of security, like many other people. Trump was so crazy and unpredictable and him being in charge during the worst pandemic in 100 years was very scary. So glad he's over and done with.

by Anonymousreply 26March 2, 2021 7:31 PM

I'm not being sarcastic, R25. In fact, this source is reactionary tripe as is any source that has Biden's approval rating at anything less than 100%. Take your poorly-wiped deplorable ass back to Stormfront where it fucking belongs, boy!

by Anonymousreply 27March 2, 2021 7:40 PM

[quote] It's great to have someone sane in the White House again. That Pres. Biden already has 31% approval from Republicans is encouraging too.

That there are still Republicans or any form of opposition to Democrats at all is discouraging. We NEED one-party rule now more than ever. I don't care if that was Nixon's re-election slogan. We need to go on the offensive. You're either for us or against us. Yes, I know George W. Bush said that but maybe it's time we started doing to white terrorists what he did to off-white ones.

by Anonymousreply 28March 2, 2021 7:42 PM

Republicans are more reactionary and backward than ever. The fact that the overwhelming majority voted not to impeach Trump in spite of the appalling, disgusting actions that occured at the US Capitol speaks volumes. They are the enemy of any kind of progress and cater to the lowest elements of US society. Everybody else has just fucking had it with them. If the Republican Party doesn't change they're going to go extinct.

by Anonymousreply 29March 2, 2021 7:58 PM

Keep pretending you're not deplorables, deplorables. We called your bluff already and you're still trying to pretend you aren't MAGA enablers.

Any source that has Biden's approval rating at less than 100% is right-wing and therefore treasonous terrorism. It is literally terrorism not to support Joe Biden.

by Anonymousreply 30March 2, 2021 8:01 PM

When a loathsome piece of dogshit like Ted Cruz can achieve such prominence in the Republican Party you know things are beyond bad.

by Anonymousreply 31March 2, 2021 8:01 PM

Joe Biden is a God-king among men. He can literally do no wrong. If he says something, that automatically makes it the gospel truth, and you will accept it as such or you will be prosecuted for treason and terrorism and put to death for it like the law fucking DEMANDS!

[quote]Whoever, owing allegiance to the United States, levies war against them or adheres to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort within the United States or elsewhere, is guilty of treason and shall suffer death, or shall be imprisoned not less than five years and fined under this title but not less than $10,000; and shall be incapable of holding any office under the United States.

The things you look up and learn the reality about the claims you read a DL thread.

Looking it up I see both sides of the aisles in the houses of Congress supported the bill. 59–23 in the Senate and 285–121 in the House. When presented to the states for ratification ONLY Oklahoma and Massachusetts rejected the Amendment. Apparently a lot of democrats also had hatchets back in those days.

Just a guess. If FDR hadn't so blatantly lied about his fitness for a fourth term I doubt this would have passed so overwhelmingly. But dying 82 days into his term rather gave it away. To FDR's credit, at least a mild breeze never blew him away.

by Anonymousreply 58March 22, 2021 8:02 PM

[QUOTE]Second and more importantly, presidential approval ratings in recent years have been a decent indicator of what will happen in the midterms. In the last four (2006, 2010, 2014, 2018), the incumbent president’s disapproval rating was higher than his approval, and in all four cases, the president’s party lost a sizable bloc of House seats. (The Senate results aren’t quite as tied to presidential approval.) The last time the president’s party gained House seats in a midterm election was in 2002, when George W. Bush had sky-high ratings in the wake of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. So, when we talk about the pattern that the president’s party nearly always loses congressional seats in the midterms, part of what seems to be happening is that the American electorate becomes somewhat disillusioned with a president after electing or reelecting him (or wants to check his power) and then backs the opposite party’s congressional candidates.

by Anonymousreply 63March 29, 2021 4:31 PM

He won Arizona and Georgia. As a Democrat. That WAS a major landslide.

by Anonymousreply 64March 29, 2021 4:33 PM

The media worked overtime to make it seem like Biden barely squeaked by and the Democrats lost like crazy in downballot votes, but Dems hold all three houses, won in Arizona and Georgia as R64 already said, and Biden got 81.3M votes versus Trumps 74.2M. That's decisive.

by Anonymousreply 65March 29, 2021 4:35 PM

I just got a chill thinking of last year at this time and being terrified Bernie would win the nomination and lose to Trump.

by Anonymousreply 66March 29, 2021 4:36 PM

The republicans will probably win the House in 2022, thanks to redistricting and the usual losses of the party holding the White House.

The Senate will probably go republican too as Sununu looks like he is going to run for Senate against Hassan, and he will easily win, unfortunately. The Sununus are the Cuomos of New Hampshire. Yuck.

Biden is doing a terrific job, but he's got to get a lot more done before 2022. But there is always the chance, given how well he is doing, that he might sway some independent voters and keep the House by a seat or two.

The other wild card is Trump -- if he manages to put into place some really crazy candidates for House and Senate, the democrats will have a better chance.

by Anonymousreply 67March 29, 2021 4:45 PM

I think Biden will be viewed as a modern day George Washington.

by Anonymousreply 68March 29, 2021 4:45 PM

It WAS a squeaker despite the Democrats having a huge advantage not only with mail in ballots (where only "some fraud" took place) but in corporate fundraising. If we listened to the polls, it should have been a total blowout where Trump would have to retreat with his tail between his legs. Instead, he was able to convince nearly half the country that the election should be contested.

by Anonymousreply 91April 1, 2021 12:44 AM

R91 Over13 million people were vaccinated when Trump left office about a month after the vaccines were approved. The numbers of those who were getting daily vaccinations didn't drastically increase after Biden entered office. It steadily rose as expected.

by Anonymousreply 92April 1, 2021 1:28 AM

Ummm no, r92. The administration was epically incompetent. From the NYT today (and of course the one person who tried to rectify the incompetence was also a crook):

The Trump administration was so slow to prepare for the coronavirus pandemic that a top aide to President Donald J. Trump took matters into his own hands.

That aide, Peter Navarro, Mr. Trump’s deputy assistant and trade adviser, personally steered hundreds of millions of dollars in contracts for pandemic supplies to politically connected or novice companies, a preliminary investigation by House Democrats has found.

Mr. Navarro sounded an early alarm about supply shortages, according to emails and other documents released by a House committee overseeing the federal coronavirus response. In a memo dated March 1, 2020, he complained that “movement has been slow.”

by Anonymousreply 105April 5, 2021 9:22 PM

That’s the aggregate number, R105. There are two separate polls showing him at 61%, and he’s been there consistently through multiple polls from the same outfits now. by Anonymousreply 117April 6, 2021 1:46 AM

It’s great to have straight white liberal men back in charge again.

by Anonymousreply 118April 6, 2021 1:57 AM

Everyone loves Joe. Feel the joementum!

by Anonymousreply 119April 6, 2021 2:25 AM

R119, that is the most inane thing I have ever heard in my life.

by Anonymousreply 120April 6, 2021 2:29 AM

It's okay r120. There will be bumps along the way, but overall this is starting to be a really good administration. It's a good thing.

by Anonymousreply 121April 6, 2021 2:31 AM

Latest poll of 2,200 adults April 2-4 is 57-37. Polls look to be holding steady for Joe.

by Anonymousreply 122April 6, 2021 2:35 AM

Are there still people that pine for the shittiest president in American history? Please tell me no.

by Anonymousreply 123April 6, 2021 2:37 AM

R122 is practicing fuzzy math. Last time I checked, 57 was less than 61.

by Anonymousreply 124April 6, 2021 2:41 AM

You cannot compare numbers from different polls, moron.

[QUOTE] Are there still people that pine for the shittiest president in American history? Please tell me no.

Only when it comes to immigration. That’s Joe’s one weakness, and the rightwing noise machine is stirring up a frenzy with help from the mainstream media over the “border crisis.”

by Anonymousreply 129April 6, 2021 1:55 PM

Both Harris-X and Rasmussen are GOP pollsters. So 47 from Rasmussen is not bad at all and 61 from Harris is shockingly generous.

by Anonymousreply 130April 6, 2021 2:07 PM

4 million people got vaccinated on Saturday. An all-time high.

Of course there are going to be problems and setbacks for Joe Biden as there are for any administration. But on the vaccine he’s doing great. Trump sniffers just don’t have enough foul effluvium to inhale this go-round.

It's funny how no one is talking about the fake "border surge" story anymore. CNN and MSNBC must be frustrated that viewers didn't care about it at all, and didn't blame Biden. They'll have to go back to Hillary's emails, I guess.

by Anonymousreply 134April 10, 2021 9:46 PM

I believe the media is essential—but I also recognize we live in a capitalist society where the media is free and also needs to be profitable. We need to be smart consumers—I abhor the BS that Dump puts out there about the media being the enemy. They aren’t the enemy, they’re essential to democracy, but we have to understand that sensationalism sells. Until we get past that (hint—we won’t) we need support them in crazy times and non-crazy times and also be discerning.

by Anonymousreply 135April 10, 2021 9:57 PM

It’s not fake, R134. It’s a terrible crisis and Biden better get things in order.

R136, it’s only a crisis because Republicans are turning it into one. Joe has been hitting it out of the park. There’s not much they can do.

by Anonymousreply 138April 10, 2021 10:15 PM

There’s plenty they can do. They can send the message that these people aren’t welcome here, for starters. Yes, Joe is doing great virtually everywhere else but on this one Mighty Joe isn’t looking very mighty.

by Anonymousreply 139April 10, 2021 10:26 PM

Like that worked for Dump, right r139?

by Anonymousreply 140April 10, 2021 10:41 PM

Joe is killing it so far. I've said that a few times on here now. I had a feeling he'd be better than I thought - but I really didn't think much to be honest.

For me? Those texts he sent Hunter were a huge revelation into Joe's character: The man is a good, good man. And not fake DC PR good.

Not too many people (myself included) could have been so loving and patient to an adult (son or not) that was so far down the rabbit hole. I would have given up and probably blown up at Hunter. Just out of the frustration and helplessness of watching someone I loved die more than out of any sense of cruelty.

That's who I want leading the US right now. Ethics and moral character matter, it seems, after all.

I think people are starting to realize that.

by Anonymousreply 141April 10, 2021 10:48 PM

R141, Joe is really what Dump claims he was. Joe has his family’s back. He has our back.

by Anonymousreply 142April 10, 2021 11:11 PM

I was never a fan of Biden. But I can’t believe what a good president he’s becoming. A real statesman.

by Anonymousreply 143April 11, 2021 10:19 AM

Yes, he Mighty Joe has surpassed all expectations.

by Anonymousreply 144April 11, 2021 1:44 PM

by Anonymousreply 145April 11, 2021 1:48 PM

R139, I pray you see the light

by Anonymousreply 146April 11, 2021 1:50 PM

There are no negatives though, R145. For the first time in decades, we are finally ruled by a progressive straight white male who isn't a fat slob. The Dems will claim 100% of congress in 2022 and Joe Biden will be re-elected with 100% of the popular vote. The electoral college will be history by then anyway and so will term limits, so get used to Mighty Joe Biden as President For Life! By the end of the decade, all "gay" "men" will finally be turned into heterosexual women and "lesbians" into heterosexual men by the universal healthcare we will finally have by that time. It's a win-win: no more Rethugs, no more racist transphobic cisf@gg0ts.

by Anonymousreply 147April 11, 2021 2:05 PM

😂 Some people in here are upset that the daily anti-Biden invectives pushed on Fox News, Newsmax, and other righty media aren’t dragging the President’s poll numbers down the way they’d hoped. Your passive-aggressive shtick is not clever, and we can easily see through it.

Now go back to YouTube for more Tucker Carlson clips to tide you over. I know weekends must be miserable for you without him.

by Anonymousreply 153April 11, 2021 2:23 PM

And keep pretending that Jimmy Dore isn't a reactionary just like Tucker Carlson. There's the reason only Fox News will indulge his reactionary blathering. He attacks progressives while claiming to be one himself. He thinks Israel is more of a threat than Russia and hides behind self-hating Jew Max Blumenthal to justify it just as he hid behind Chomsky and Bernie until both Chomsky and Bernie supported Biden.

All right-wing media will be illegal by the end of this year, and everyone involved with it on any level will be arrested, prosecuted, and convicted of the capital crime of treason along with the cryptoracist white fauxgressives whom they drag along to trot out the same old tired antiwar boomer talking points when in reality they only oppose the bombing of Syria because Kamala Harris is Black.

Blowhard Joe Scarborough keeps saying that if he were still in Congress, he'd be attacking cradle-to-grave socialism and budget bloat. No one dares tell him that it's a losing argument. First, Trump's ineptness re Covid killed people; Biden demonstrated how govt can save lives and work in the people's interest. Second, Trump already blew a hole in the deficit and it helped no one except the very rich. Third, Scarborough was in Congress before Obamacare, which has made a case for government intervention in health coverage. Fourth, attacking the opposition 24/7 doesn't work when you've demonstrated you have nothing to offer besides voter suppression and fundamentalism.

by Anonymousreply 200May 6, 2021 3:15 PM

Biden's rating is certainly better than Trump's ever was, but for so early in his term, it's not great.

The 538 average has his rating now at 53.2

Looking at individual polling companies:

YouGov (which 538 rates at B+) gives Biden only 50% approval. MAY 29-JUN. 1

538's highest rated polling co. IBD/TIPP (A+) gives Biden a 53% approval. MAY 26-28

by Anonymousreply 215June 3, 2021 6:46 PM

Yeah, there's Covid, like last week. Yeah the Senate is a collection of useless assholes, like last week. Yeah, there was a speech, which actually was pretty good but honestly so what? Actually, the thing everyone pretends to care about, the economy and the unemployment rate, is pretty much wonderful. So what's the problem? Who the fuck knows?
