Anyone else as fed up with he/she /them as I am? It’s become obnoxious.
Pronouns

It's so boring and I don't want to be "Woke"!!
by Anonymous | reply 1 | February 27, 2021 6:36 PM |
OP and r1 have committed LITERAL VIOLENCE in this thread!
by Anonymous | reply 2 | February 27, 2021 8:42 PM |
It’s incredibly stupid – our company has strongly suggested we put our pronouns in our email signature-which makes no sense. Why on earth do you need to know my gender to conduct remote business with me?
by Anonymous | reply 3 | February 27, 2021 8:44 PM |
I've been called That for years, and I don't see it changing.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | February 27, 2021 8:45 PM |
People who have multiple pronouns want you to remember them all and switch them up as necessary. Next time you go to the bank or the supermarket, be sure to ask the teller or cashier for their list of pronouns and then use them all.
[quote]Friendly reminder that people who use multiple pronouns use multiple pronouns for a reason, and you should make an effort to use all of their pronouns when referring to them. Not just one set.

So... according to this genius on Twitter we should be saying "Is John in? He/They called me earlier."?
This is one of the many reasons to never listen to people on Twitter.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | February 27, 2021 8:54 PM |
Does anyone watch BattleBots on the Discovery Channel? One team has a dude named Lilith who they refer to as "she" but there is nothing female looking or sounding about "her."

I think it's more like "Is John in? He called me earlier but they didn't say what xir wanted."
by Anonymous | reply 8 | February 27, 2021 8:57 PM |
Beep, Bop, Boop.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | February 27, 2021 8:57 PM |
Yes I'm tired of it AND tired of people bitching about it.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | February 27, 2021 8:57 PM |
I refuse to do it. This is silly but now there is a trend on video game platforms where you can no longer pick your gender for any Avatar you use. They simply assign you a random one so even though I'm a woman, my avatar is some dude with a beard and mustache and I can't change it. It's fucking stupid and annoying as hell. I don't want my avatar to be gender neutral or of the opposite sex of me. I don't suffer from gender confusion so why should I be made to look as if I do?
by Anonymous | reply 11 | February 27, 2021 9:07 PM |
Someone said, "If you're under 5'5", your pronouns are ima/lil/tea/cup". I thought that was funny.

[quote] Friendly reminder that people who use multiple pronouns use multiple pronouns for a reason
The reason being a desperate need for attention

The reply to the tweet @ R5:
[quote] agreed! though usually we stick to one or two sets per conversation, we find switching pronouns halfway through a sentence quite confusing. we still switch them up regularly! - kess
Is that person using the royal "we"? Do they have their own special first-person pronouns as well?
by Anonymous | reply 14 | February 27, 2021 9:16 PM |
Oh I didn't realize that one could choose the royal we as one's pronoun. We love that.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | February 27, 2021 9:19 PM |
R5 Oh, that Twitter account is something else. “They” is an appropriate pronoun because they claim to have 27 personalities. 😦
by Anonymous | reply 17 | February 27, 2021 9:20 PM |
I find it insulting to trans people. I’ll call people whatever they prefer, and have done so in a professional setting for 20 years. Very very few people choose anything other than cisgender pronouns. It strikes me as similar to pre-Obergefell straight people calling their husbands or wives “partner” or “spouse” as if it made up for marriage inequality.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | February 27, 2021 9:20 PM |
I object from a grammaticaed."z standpoint. "They" and "Them" are plural meant to refer to more than one person. The pronoun people instead use "they" and "them" for an individual, which is wrong.
Another word should have been invented for the individual who did not want to use "he" or "her." Possible alternatives: "ze, zee and/or, zed."
by Anonymous | reply 19 | February 27, 2021 9:29 PM |
^^"grammatical"

Um, no. How about we all get back to reality where there are two genders, k?
by Anonymous | reply 21 | February 27, 2021 9:30 PM |
Nobody doesn't know your gender, we all can tell.
If you think your pronoun obsession changes this you're nuts.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | February 27, 2021 9:33 PM |
Whenever I got angry or upset with the trans at work I would slip and say, “he”. For me, it’s like asking someone not to think of the word, “nigger”.
Then that’s all they think of trying not to slip up!
by Anonymous | reply 23 | February 27, 2021 9:36 PM |
I had a student last semester who wrote his name and then, instead of "he/him" or "they/them", he wrote "any pronouns."
Why bother??????
And why do people write, "She/Her or They/Them." Well, which is it, and how am I to know?
These people think they are FAR more interesting than they actually are.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | February 27, 2021 9:36 PM |
R19 WTF is wrong with "it"?
by Anonymous | reply 25 | February 27, 2021 9:37 PM |
An individual is NOT a "they." They is plural.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | February 27, 2021 10:27 PM |
Yes, R26, but this horseshit is also coming from the idiots who call one person LGBTQ+.
Pick one.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | February 27, 2021 11:12 PM |
I hate the fake trans, boil them in oil. How's that for literal fucking violence?
by Anonymous | reply 28 | February 27, 2021 11:43 PM |
mix up the word Prononuns and you get No Prons
by Anonymous | reply 29 | February 27, 2021 11:45 PM |
I want to respect everyone I interact with, so I will of course use the pronouns they would like me to use, if they make them known to me. But I am much of the same mind as R18. To have businesses pander to the Trans community by “encouraging” their employees to adopt and share their own pronouns seems like an insult. (Did any gays here buy and enjoy the special feeling of inclusion we were supposed to get from Rainbow Pride Oreos?!”)
R3, one suggestion for you: If you think your bosses really want you to share your gender unsolicited, just start including a dick pic (or spread pussy lips if applicable) to your email signature.

I'm a college teacher at a liberal arts college, and I get tons and tons of students who identity as gender-neutral or genderfluid. (I also get kids who were born one gender and now use another). Despite Datalounge fantasies to the contrary, not one of them has ever asked me to use a bespoke pronoun like xe or zhe--they always ask for "them/them/their." I'm pretty used to it by this point--I make mistakes, but I ask them to correct me politely (and I make a big deal out of the word "politely") if I screw up and call them by the wrong pronoun. I always screw up if I get an athletic young man who wants to be "they/them" (usually out of being woke and wanting to dispense with the gender binary rather than innately feeling not like a man)--all the other students who want to be called "they/them/theirs" usually look and dress pretty androgynously, so it's not hard to remember.
My belief is always that I want to call people how they want to be called, and since Dickens and Thackeray and Jane Austen all used "they" to refer to an ungendered hypothetical individual it is not without precedent for our society to do the same.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | February 27, 2021 11:56 PM |
I’m not fed up with them, I just refuse to acknowledge them. And I’d never anyone who presented their pronouns as anything other than he or she

[quote] It strikes me as similar to pre-Obergefell straight people calling their husbands or wives “partner” or “spouse” as if it made up for marriage inequality.
I always hated that and couldn’t understand why straight people did that. I’m sure some of them still do. What the FUCK is going through the minds of hetero couples who use the word ‘partner’ like that?
by Anonymous | reply 33 | February 28, 2021 12:16 AM |
I should have specified, I don’t find ‘spouse’ to be weird at all. It’s just a gender neutral way of referring to your husband or wife (and nothing to do with trans or genderfluid or non-binary; it predates all that nonsense of course). ‘Partner’ is the ridiculous word here.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | February 28, 2021 12:18 AM |
Yes me ! I'm fck fed up of the He/She/them. ridiculous "Woke" thing
by Anonymous | reply 35 | February 28, 2021 12:20 AM |
Agreed. You’re either He or She. I’m all about trans rights and this has nothing to do with that since someone who is trans is still a gender of male or female. This is ridiculous WOKE OVERLOAD ! Fuck Sam Smith , if HE wants to be called a THEM , well a them is PLURAL so pay double taxes since you’re more than one. It’s going to be a huge issue for kids when they’re in kindergarten and they’re being told by their woke parents “choose your own pro noun” . The world is so bloody annoying right now.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | February 28, 2021 12:28 AM |
If someone said "My name is Aydin and my pronouns are (whatever)," I'd just reply politely, "Oh, we're not going to get to know each other that well."
by Anonymous | reply 37 | February 28, 2021 12:48 AM |
Is enby a new gender?
by Anonymous | reply 38 | February 28, 2021 12:59 AM |
Photo from Congress this week. Tell me, what is it YOU see?
Yeah, I'm a shrill "right wing" hysteric for asserting I do not identify as LGBTQIA+, and for observing the Trans agenda is destroying gay rights and shoving gay people out of their own movement!
by Anonymous | reply 39 | February 28, 2021 5:46 AM |
Just use "it" and "that" makes it simple.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | February 28, 2021 6:12 AM |
R38 I think it’s just another term for “non binaries” to call themselves.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | February 28, 2021 6:15 AM |
Oh pls R26 the use of ‘they’ for indefinite singular is known by almost everybody.
As R18 said it’s so so rare you encounter this in the real world, thread after thread here remonstrating it is where the real histrionics are.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | February 28, 2021 6:24 AM |
The pronoun lunacy has invaded my college as well, r31. No absurd ones, but we are still encouraged to include our pronouns in our email signature.
No, thanks. People may call me by whatever pronoun they like. Idgaf.
I have 70-some students a semester. AFTER I get their names down, then I'll worry about remembering their pronouns. Particularly now with managing Covid protocals, I only have so much brain space for coddling bullshit.
