I live in south east Asia. I bought an apartment in Bangkok for weekends and holidays and had it extensively renovated immediately to turn in into a really beautiful contemporary bachelor’s pad. I watch old movies and wish it were the 1960s now. I didn't live through the 50s and 60s, so I am obviously viewing the world through very rose colored glasses and a highly stylised and stylish look presented by the movies. Here is a first world problem somebody should resolve: Baking recipes all come in cups and tea- or tablespoons. When you go and get the ingredients, all packages come in grams, ounces and milliliters. Why did nobody get the idea that a number of cups on packages would be helpful? At least some recipes state ounces, but by far not all. (Hail to the metric system)

My neighborhood thrift store closed due to Covid and after a few weeks, decided to make the move permanent. It was a nonprofit mainly staffed by elderly volunteers. R103, not all baking recipes come in cups and tea/tablespoons. Get a food scale. They're not very expensive nowadays. They also don't take up much counter space. Once you start using a scale, you will never switch back to cups, etc., for baking at least.

I had my yearly eye exam and my contact lense prescription is the same as previously. I ordered contacts, using my insurance credit allowance, and I pay the remaining balance if any. I basically re-decorate my fridge every two weeks the day before my cleaning lady comes, so thst she will think I am a normal person that has food in the fridge. Truth be told I order in a lot, and throw a fair amount out of the fresh stuff. I hate preparing meals and cleaning up after.

My 4 year old LG TV has Wi-Fi but is not connecting. You cannot even find sources of Wi-Fi when you do a search. I switch the country in the settings and it boots up and somehow connects that way. But it is a PITA To connect that way every time I want to stream something. I’ve looked up other fixes online and they want you to take the back off the TV and somehow blow air into the Wi-Fi thingamajig. That is just too much effort and I may fuck it up! Should I just buy a new TV?

I agree R126. When I moved into my house I painted the hallway and the living room/dining room and my bedroom (a couple times for the bedroom before I got the color right). I get why people do it - because they can and it's relatively cheap (but more expensive than I thought) and you can improve your skill quickly. But, it's a total pain. I hired someone off Craigslist to paint my relatively small bathroom - the old paint wasn't coming off evenly so he needed to skim coat it and there was a lot of annoying things like getting behind the toilet.

Rescue Chick, do have a look at Craigslist though. There are plenty of Starvin' Marvin's out there that need every dollar they can get right now, so think of it as being a helpful gesture on top of enjoying your time off.
