The q-word is a slur. Stop using it, breeders!

Shut the fuck up and do not speak unless you are spoken to!

by Anonymousreply 43February 27, 2021 2:35 PM

Get a thicker skin and some self-esteem, and stop trying to censor people.

I got a voicemail at work one weekend in which someone called me "queer" in a very unfriendly message. When I picked it up on Monday I laughed. (I think I know who it was)

by Anonymousreply 1February 25, 2021 3:48 AM

Get fucked, prissy square OP.

by Anonymousreply 2February 25, 2021 7:28 AM

OP = stupid thread of the day. How are we any different if we call them names after we complained for eons that they called us queer and the f-word?

by Anonymousreply 3February 25, 2021 7:48 AM

Literal violence.

by Anonymousreply 4February 25, 2021 7:54 AM

I hate the term, especially when someone woke twit thinks they’re being oh so progressive and cutting edge by using it.

by Anonymousreply 5February 25, 2021 8:45 AM

i agree OP!

by Anonymousreply 6February 25, 2021 8:59 AM

Yas Queen!

by Anonymousreply 7February 25, 2021 9:12 AM

Call me "queer" to my face and I will destroy you.

by Anonymousreply 8February 25, 2021 9:14 AM

I'm a hundred years old!

by Anonymousreply 9February 25, 2021 9:22 AM

Q-tip is a bad word?

Not in St. Olaf.

by Anonymousreply 10February 25, 2021 9:23 AM

I wonder if R1 would try that to a black person if the n word was trying to be normalized or if the term "wetback" was also trying to be normalized.

It will be forever shameful if the hateful heterosexuals can't use a word that has demeaned & marginalized us for ages. Oh my!

Why is it only our minority community that tries to clean up the majority community's nasty words & make them acceptable?

by Anonymousreply 11February 25, 2021 3:00 PM

[quote]stop trying to censor people.

This is rich!!

by Anonymousreply 12February 25, 2021 3:12 PM

I love my queer self!

LA!

by Anonymousreply 13February 25, 2021 3:23 PM

Fuck the Q word. Fuck it right in the ass.

by Anonymousreply 14February 25, 2021 3:50 PM

Is it now the consensus that "queer" is not a term of solidarity and alliance?

by Anonymousreply 15February 25, 2021 3:55 PM

We reclaimed queer at least 30 years ago

by Anonymousreply 16February 25, 2021 4:45 PM

[quote] We reclaimed queer at least 30 years ago

Anything post-Golden Girls is lost to the eldergays, dear.

by Anonymousreply 17February 25, 2021 5:36 PM

Who’s “we”, R16?

Black people partially reclaimed the N-word, but I don’t see woke people, media types, and academics using that word openly.

by Anonymousreply 18February 25, 2021 5:45 PM

[quote] Call me "queer" to my face and I will destroy you.

If you had genuine self-esteem you would just let it roll off your back.

Why waste time and energy reacting to ignorant people?

by Anonymousreply 19February 25, 2021 6:39 PM

^By doing that you give them more importance than they really have. Why would you care what these people say? They're best ignored.

Of course I would draw the line at physical violence.

R19

by Anonymousreply 20February 25, 2021 6:44 PM

I just turned 40 and most of my gay friends are in their 30s (a few in their 20s.) It is interesting to me that "queer" is fully reclaimed for my generation and those younger -- I hear my friends use it all the time. I don't really use the term to describe myself (I tend to stick with gay), but have certainly used it to describe queer culture.

Anyway, I understand why many Eldergays on here seem to be sensitive about this one. Some feel it erases their particular gay identity (I disagree, but I understand this) and that some can't disassociate from hearing it as a very angry, vicious slur in their younger days. Just like some older African Americans aren't comfortable with casual use of the N-word.

But, language evolves, folks. And intent is important. I think anyone who actively used "queer" as a slur is approaching retirement age, so, sorry, Eldergays, this is a lost cause.

❤️❤️❤️

by Anonymousreply 21February 25, 2021 6:49 PM

I’m not anymore an ‘eldergay’ than you, R21, I’m literally a year older, but I hate the term ‘queer’ with every fibre of my being. I don’t have any gay friends that use it either.

by Anonymousreply 22February 25, 2021 6:59 PM

Don’t know any gay person that’s used “queer”...ever. My whole life.

by Anonymousreply 23February 25, 2021 7:08 PM

The q-word is a slur and all anti-GAY slurs are incitement to physical violence. Use that word and it will be your last.

by Anonymousreply 24February 25, 2021 7:18 PM

R21, you are an ageist bigot. The word will always be a slur and hate speech laws with the death penalty as a mandatory minimum will enshrine that into law.

by Anonymousreply 25February 25, 2021 7:19 PM

[quote]If you had genuine self-esteem you would beat the shit out of anyone who uses it in any context ever for any reason whatsoever.

Fixed. Hate speech causes hate crimes.

by Anonymousreply 26February 25, 2021 7:23 PM

[quote]Black people partially reclaimed the N-word, but I don’t see woke people, media types, and academics using that word openly.

If you are white and you use that word you will lose your job like that country singer I never would have heard of otherwise.

If you are not gay and call gays anti-GAY hate speech, the same needs to happen.

by Anonymousreply 27February 25, 2021 7:26 PM

Gee, Wallen, you really put your foot in your mouth this time!

Now str8 black male rappers who use anti-gay hate speech need to get canceled, too, and their white wannabes along with them.

by Anonymousreply 29February 25, 2021 7:36 PM

OP, dear? This is your mother. Stop being such a faggot.

by Anonymousreply 30February 25, 2021 8:47 PM

R30, you're nothing but a cheap breeder whore.

by Anonymousreply 31February 25, 2021 8:52 PM

The idea is to tell millennials and overly-woke idiots to stop using it. I have never heard it from anyone over 40 who is straight. The f word, yes, but "queer" no, unless they are talking about the LGBTQIAFSBCJZJE shit that is all over and they try to sound "with it".

by Anonymousreply 32February 25, 2021 9:02 PM

I've reached the point where I hate the Q-word more.

by Anonymousreply 33February 25, 2021 9:04 PM

Queer no longer means gay. You can be straight and queer. Test it out. Call a queer a faggot and behold the righteous indignation.

You want to call yourself queer, knock yourself out, but it doesn’t mean Jack shit. If you’re gay, say so and don’t be a pussy about it.

by Anonymousreply 34February 25, 2021 9:08 PM

R34 -- Okay, THAT is one objection to "queer" I can actually get behind -- when it's used as a non-committal term so that the person doesn't have to admit to being gay. In that very specific instance, I agree that it reflects internalized homophobia. But, the word is also used in a very generous, open-hearted way to reflect more than just one's sexual orientation, but the broader queer culture -- the cultural touchpoints that connect us -- from the shallowest pop diva appreciation to our literary forefathers like Wilde and Forester or to just embrace everyone under the LGBTQ+. When it's done in that inclusive way, rather than to circumvent or deny gay identity, then I have zero issue with it.

But being upset that it's a one-time slur that has now been reclaimed by the types of people it was directed at? I can't be mad about that.

by Anonymousreply 35February 25, 2021 11:17 PM

[quote] Don’t know any gay person that’s used “queer”...ever. My whole life.

I use it in a political context. Maybe people don't identify as 'queer' but no individual identifies as "LGBTQA%_:" either. I don't think queer is a slur. It is not the f-word.

by Anonymousreply 36February 26, 2021 12:35 AM

Oh my god, shut the fuck up.

by Anonymousreply 37February 26, 2021 12:45 AM

R33 - rightfully so became at this point, pretty much everyone knows it's offense to call a gay man the f word. However, "queer" is the language of the assholes who latched themselves onto gay men (uninvited) and, frankly, who are often posing as "bi" or "queer" to seem "edgy". How is this any different than the bimbos who say "my gays"? At least those idiots obviously fall on the lower side of the IQ number, but the "woke" crowd seems to think they are geniuses when using it. Ugh...just call me gay bitch...or homosexual even, I am sick of all these invented terms.

by Anonymousreply 38February 26, 2021 1:43 AM

I hope I'm not this angry and reactive when I'm older. Part of it must be the trauma of having lived through the cruelty of the conservativism of Regan's America and the simultaneous AIDS crisis. Some of you must have literal PTSD from surviving all of that hate, and that terrible plague. I don't blame you. I just wish you peace.

by Anonymousreply 39February 26, 2021 2:02 AM

R39 - please, I am not traumatized. I came out at 23, my parents were accepting and said they knew anyway and my sister couldn't be more loving and supportive along with her group of friends. Hell, even my ex-girlfriend and I talk at least once a month and the few girls I dated in my early 20's are still on my social media. I grew up in a liberal environment. Given what so many gay men go through, I was damned lucky. I just find this whole word soup and word salad ridiculous. Not to mention, that over the years, I have seen so many of the "woke" SJW be just another version of the right wing jerks who are homophobes.

by Anonymousreply 40February 26, 2021 7:34 AM

Yes, thank you, R39, I also wish peace on the black people who are offended by the N-word. Hopefully someday they can get over it and accept white people calling them that to their faces like it’s no big deal. Peace on the world.

by Anonymousreply 41February 26, 2021 5:51 PM

r40 r41 Exactly. I'm not older but sick of my generation in general and the extreme double standards of the woke.

by Anonymousreply 42February 27, 2021 3:51 AM

Sorry, but it's just not true that everyone, or even the majority among the 'LGBTQ', finds the word empowering these days.
