CNN retiring "moderate to critical injuries."
That covers a lot of territory.

R4 That means her face got it.

Damn...do not be a world famous black athlete in Los Angeles. This is only a year since Kobe.
He’ll likely die or be paralyzed if the jaws of life have to be used. Very sad.

"Significant injuries" - MSNBC. They've been talking about it non-stop for 30 minutes. I'd say he's dead.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | February 23, 2021 7:01 PM |
Does not sound good.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | February 23, 2021 7:02 PM |
Looks like it was an Aston Martin DBX, a brand new SUV. Even has a logo affixed to the side of the car. Was he out for a test drive?
by Anonymous | reply 15 | February 23, 2021 7:02 PM |
SAVE HIS BEAUTIFUL HUGE MASSIVE PENIS, PLEASE !!!!!!!!!!!
by Anonymous | reply 16 | February 23, 2021 7:02 PM |
Dain bread
by Anonymous | reply 17 | February 23, 2021 7:03 PM |
I’d love it if at least one of Trump’s buddies bit the dust this year.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | February 23, 2021 7:03 PM |
If he were fine, they would've already said so
by Anonymous | reply 19 | February 23, 2021 7:03 PM |
Wow, that really sucks. Nive guy. Met him and his then wife years ago in Corona Del Mar
by Anonymous | reply 20 | February 23, 2021 7:04 PM |
Is that the front of the car that’s all smashed in? Yikes
by Anonymous | reply 21 | February 23, 2021 7:04 PM |

I take the jaws of life with me everywhere I go. You know, just in case.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | February 23, 2021 7:04 PM |
That looks like a large expensive SUV with tons of airbags. Doubt he’s seriously injured, maybe some fractures.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | February 23, 2021 7:04 PM |

You misspelled Cablinasian, R10.
I hope he makes it.

very sad. i hope he's okay :(
by Anonymous | reply 26 | February 23, 2021 7:04 PM |
Looking at the wreck my first thought was speeding.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | February 23, 2021 7:04 PM |
One weird thing about this...it supposedly happened this morning, yet the news is just being released.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | February 23, 2021 7:05 PM |
There are suitcases next to the vehicle so he may have been on his way to LAX
by Anonymous | reply 30 | February 23, 2021 7:06 PM |
I have a friend that works as a 911 dispatcher. She texted me that he was totally in incoherent and dazed. That man was fucked up on pills, coke, and alcohol.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | February 23, 2021 7:06 PM |
R15, I think it looks like a Bentley logo.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | February 23, 2021 7:06 PM |
So will he miss his flight? Are tickets refundable now?
by Anonymous | reply 33 | February 23, 2021 7:06 PM |
by Anonymous | reply 34 | February 23, 2021 7:07 PM |
According to golf digest, multiple leg injuries.
Career over.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | February 23, 2021 7:07 PM |
Actually on closer inspection is appears to be a Genesis GV80, which is a pretty decent sized SUV. Also brand new.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | February 23, 2021 7:08 PM |
yes, I think he has a problem with pain pills. he's had 5 back surgeries...
by Anonymous | reply 37 | February 23, 2021 7:08 PM |
He wasn't on my 2021 death list!!!
by Anonymous | reply 38 | February 23, 2021 7:08 PM |
Incoherent and dazed could mean a traumatic brain injury, as well
by Anonymous | reply 39 | February 23, 2021 7:08 PM |
was he wearing a seat belt at least?
by Anonymous | reply 40 | February 23, 2021 7:08 PM |
well, at least his head isn't hurt.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | February 23, 2021 7:09 PM |
Was he wearing a mask at least?
by Anonymous | reply 42 | February 23, 2021 7:09 PM |
he isn't a nice guy. he's a nasty person who doesn't tip.
He's only nice if he needs you for something...
typical of many pro sports people.

Is he dead?
by Anonymous | reply 44 | February 23, 2021 7:10 PM |
..said Alex Smith, NEVER!
by Anonymous | reply 45 | February 23, 2021 7:10 PM |
Nothing new on TMZ so assume he’s fine and sends his love.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | February 23, 2021 7:10 PM |
concussion at the very least.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | February 23, 2021 7:10 PM |
[quote] According to golf digest, multiple leg injuries. Career over.
Why career over? You don’t need to run in golf. It’s leisurely. Wheelchairs welcome.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | February 23, 2021 7:10 PM |
Well he’s fucked. I wonder if one of his legs might need to be amputated?
by Anonymous | reply 49 | February 23, 2021 7:11 PM |
That is a Bentley Bentayga.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | February 23, 2021 7:11 PM |
R48. you need your legs to walk to course. He had a back surgery this year and now this. He's basically handicapped.
by Anonymous | reply 51 | February 23, 2021 7:11 PM |
At least now people won’t give him grief for popping pain pills like they’re candy.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | February 23, 2021 7:12 PM |
The car is resting on the driver's side. The passenger side is undisturbed except for a broken window and a fully inflated air bag. They must've pulled him out through the windshield.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | February 23, 2021 7:12 PM |
he's already 45. time to call it quits
by Anonymous | reply 54 | February 23, 2021 7:12 PM |
Not wishing him any ill will but plenty of people are in horrific accidents with horrific injuries and they survive and live normal lives. This is not some 8 wagon train pile up crossing the Rockies in 1855.
We do have modern surgery and medicine. He is well suited to do well barring ceetain types of injuries.
In any event, what are people doing racing around in cars and traveling during a fucking pandemic. I am sick of these people.
by Anonymous | reply 55 | February 23, 2021 7:12 PM |
R53, they used a "jaws of life" to cut him out of car.
by Anonymous | reply 56 | February 23, 2021 7:12 PM |
God forbid, R49. Even if it takes a long time, hopefully they will heal.
by Anonymous | reply 58 | February 23, 2021 7:13 PM |
[quote]That is a Bentley Bentayga.
No it's a GV80 - and not even his own car:
by Anonymous | reply 59 | February 23, 2021 7:13 PM |
Triple bogey in the SUV.
by Anonymous | reply 60 | February 23, 2021 7:13 PM |
I can't wait for the tox screen results !
by Anonymous | reply 61 | February 23, 2021 7:13 PM |
Michael Schumacher, Kobe, now 🐅...
by Anonymous | reply 62 | February 23, 2021 7:15 PM |
It clearly has a Genesis logo on the side.
by Anonymous | reply 63 | February 23, 2021 7:15 PM |
He hit the wall really young, around the time Elin divorced him.
Yes, he's known to be a bad tipper. Along with Michael Jordan, Scotty "No Tippin'" Pippen, Madonna, Rachael Ray, and yes, Britney Spears.
by Anonymous | reply 64 | February 23, 2021 7:15 PM |
He’ll definitely test positive for opiates.
by Anonymous | reply 65 | February 23, 2021 7:15 PM |
Whoa. The front of the vehicle is totaled.

Was he high, Clairee?
by Anonymous | reply 68 | February 23, 2021 7:16 PM |
I pray we don't experience another one of those awful moments!:
by Anonymous | reply 69 | February 23, 2021 7:16 PM |
[quote]was he wearing a seat belt at least?
Probably since he had to be removed from the vehicle. People without seat belts usually get ejected during crashes.
by Anonymous | reply 70 | February 23, 2021 7:16 PM |
SAVE HIS PENIS!
by Anonymous | reply 71 | February 23, 2021 7:17 PM |
Isn't it known be likes fucking his whores on the wall? It's why his back is so fucked up. Anyway don't wish anyone ill will even though he's a piece of shut trump supporter.

What is a Genesis logo? Sega?
by Anonymous | reply 73 | February 23, 2021 7:18 PM |
If only he'd taken a helicopter instead!
by Anonymous | reply 74 | February 23, 2021 7:19 PM |
It’s been five hours and no reports on his condition. Not a good sign.
by Anonymous | reply 75 | February 23, 2021 7:20 PM |
he's currently in surgery per his agent Mark Steinberg
by Anonymous | reply 76 | February 23, 2021 7:21 PM |
If he was driving a car made by Hyundai, he probably made a turn going 2 mph, and the car rolled 20 times before crumpling like a piece of aluminum foil.
by Anonymous | reply 77 | February 23, 2021 7:22 PM |
If he’s only undergoing orthopedic surgery to repair broken legs, why not say his life in not in danger?
by Anonymous | reply 78 | February 23, 2021 7:23 PM |
R18 stfu, take your Trump obsession elsewhere
by Anonymous | reply 79 | February 23, 2021 7:23 PM |
He's fine and not feeling anything...but his legs are a mangled mess. Man, I wish I could get my hands on one of those legs. I'd make a killing on Ebay.
by Anonymous | reply 80 | February 23, 2021 7:23 PM |
SUVs roll over quite a bit.
by Anonymous | reply 81 | February 23, 2021 7:23 PM |
The media is ACTING like he's dead. So aggravating.
by Anonymous | reply 82 | February 23, 2021 7:24 PM |
Why is CNN using "Golf Digest" as their breaking news source for this? Sakes!
by Anonymous | reply 83 | February 23, 2021 7:26 PM |
They’re saying multiple leg injuries. Of course that’s what they said about princess Grace at first. Ugh.
by Anonymous | reply 84 | February 23, 2021 7:27 PM |
According to ESPN, it's not life threatening.
by Anonymous | reply 85 | February 23, 2021 7:27 PM |
They can't release medical information without his permission. Death is another matter. So the fact they haven't said anythign may be a good sign.
You know, its really none of our business.
by Anonymous | reply 86 | February 23, 2021 7:28 PM |
medicine has come a long way...they will probably put his legs back together....even if they have to screw and pin it in many places.
He broke BOTH legs.
by Anonymous | reply 87 | February 23, 2021 7:29 PM |
Ha, and you bitches thought I was next to go.
by Anonymous | reply 88 | February 23, 2021 7:29 PM |
I'm gonna put him in the death pool, I reckon he will OD on pills within 2 - 5 years
by Anonymous | reply 89 | February 23, 2021 7:30 PM |
[quote]They’re saying multiple leg injuries.
Hopefully not that third leg of his!

ESPN said Kobe Bryant was resting comfortably in the hospital.
by Anonymous | reply 94 | February 23, 2021 7:31 PM |
Everybody PLEASE remember that I just broke in my leg in SEVEN places, in the middle of AFRICA!
by Anonymous | reply 95 | February 23, 2021 7:31 PM |
Shame. He was such a good boy.
by Anonymous | reply 96 | February 23, 2021 7:34 PM |
Was he alone in the car or did he have his secret male lover with him?
by Anonymous | reply 97 | February 23, 2021 7:34 PM |
[quote] Nobody's advocating violation of HIPAA.
You most certainly are. Why are you being such a fucking hypocrite about it?
I am here to speculate and gossip, not to demand that announcements be made.

[quote]They can't release medical information without his permission. Death is another matter. So the fact they haven't said anythign may be a good sign.
Hospitals have PR and media departments that deal with releasing information concerning high-profile patients and other cases with high public interest. His family/agents could allow them to release a statement or make one themselves.
by Anonymous | reply 100 | February 23, 2021 7:35 PM |
From the looks of the vehicle, I wouldn't be surprised if he'll need an amputation or two.
by Anonymous | reply 101 | February 23, 2021 7:37 PM |
Re: Ashley Judd. I must say I had no idea Ashley Judd has been working so diligently in Africa on conservation issues. I read around enough to know it doesn't seem to be highly publicized that she is living there a great deal of the time. Certainly not widely publicized like Angelina Jolie's quick in-and-out trips to places are.

What an idiot, you have no idea how air bags work or how cars crumple.
by Anonymous | reply 103 | February 23, 2021 7:38 PM |
This reminds me of the Princess Diana accident. The suspense. The early reports of leg injuries, superficial, not serious.

by Anonymous | reply 114 | February 23, 2021 7:44 PM |
How much legal trouble is he looking at once his tox results come back positive? Does he have other criminal history?
by Anonymous | reply 115 | February 23, 2021 7:45 PM |
It kind of is our business if he's a public safety concern. Popping a vile full of pills and rolling down hills in your SUV is kind of dangerous.
by Anonymous | reply 116 | February 23, 2021 7:45 PM |
Congressman and DL Fave Madison Cawthorn has a new Black friend! (His first).
by Anonymous | reply 117 | February 23, 2021 7:45 PM |
I Google Mapped the crash location; looks like he jumped the curb and rolled *up* the hill. If it was early in the morning, then probably no traffic; very tempting to fly down that stretch of road.
by Anonymous | reply 118 | February 23, 2021 7:46 PM |
he will be charged with driving under the influence etc...he's had a DUI in the past.
depending on what's in his system.
by Anonymous | reply 119 | February 23, 2021 7:47 PM |

Unless having your wife shove a nine-iron up your skinny fool ass for fucking around with a worn out skank ho is a crime, then no.

That isn't the same thing at all. Two different issues. But then you must know that.

Didn't HBO just release a "Tiger Woods is back!" documentary? Talk about bad timing.
by Anonymous | reply 122 | February 23, 2021 7:49 PM |
this accident happened at 7:12 am !!! Where was he going ? did he wake up early or stayed up all night?
by Anonymous | reply 123 | February 23, 2021 7:49 PM |
Cue the sympathy tour as he arrives on the golf course in a wheel chair and the media goes nuts as TV host show fake tears of joy for his comeback.
Who gives a fuck about rich athletes who do nothing for society except build a fan base to get even richer? Seriously, has anyone ever lost a tear over YOUR career comeback?
by Anonymous | reply 124 | February 23, 2021 7:49 PM |
Genesis GV80 is a shitty “luxury” SUV made by Hyundai as part of their luxury e.g. trying to be Toyota’s Lexus line. It gets shitty MPG too. Hyundai’s cars look great on the outside and interior with lots of options but under the hood is another story. Where they can scrimp to save money they will, judged by use of plastic components in parts. It’s why Hyundai and other Korean cars’ resale value is crap compared to Toyota or even Honda.
Now that Tiger has crashed in one, it’s not exactly the publicity that the underwhelming Genesis line needs.
by Anonymous | reply 125 | February 23, 2021 7:50 PM |
He could have easily broken his neck. Aren't necks the most vulnerable part of the anatomy is car crashes?
by Anonymous | reply 126 | February 23, 2021 7:50 PM |
oh Tiger Woods we love you get up
by Anonymous | reply 127 | February 23, 2021 7:50 PM |
He could still develop blood clots and die that way...
by Anonymous | reply 128 | February 23, 2021 7:51 PM |
I'm guessing he was bombed and doing over 100mph. That's a relatively straight road and conditions don't look to be bad.
by Anonymous | reply 129 | February 23, 2021 7:53 PM |
I thought he was driving a press car and the logo on the side was advertising the tournament. The actual Genesis the public buys also has logos on the doors?

A sheriff’s department source told TMZ that they didn’t believe alcohol was a factor — but didn’t say whether other substances may have been involved.
Woods, who’s recorded 82 PGA Tour wins, was in the Golden State for the Genesis Invitational, which wrapped up over the weekend in the Pacific Palisades. He presented the trophy to winner Max Homa.
Afterward, he was on a two-day content shoot with Golf Digest/GOLFTV, the magazine said.

It might bring them more attention that a celebrity was driving one of their SUVs.
Mercedes wasn’t harmed too much after Princess Diana died in one.

R132 He was given the car to drive because he was part of the golf tournament the company sponsored.

[quote]they didn’t believe alcohol was a factor — but didn’t say whether other substances may have been involved.
Because this is what rich drug addicts do, pills, baby pills. If you get caught, it's not a drug problem, it's a back problem.

I'm still kind oh awed that Hyundai has made it as far as it has in the market and that they're producing "expensive" cars. I remember they were a joke POS cars in the 90s. I remember driving past a stalled one on Lower Wacker Drive in Chicago in 93 or 94. It had an "I ❤ Hyundai" bumper sticker. Not kidding.
by Anonymous | reply 147 | February 23, 2021 8:00 PM |
If he's still alive I don't know why MSNBC has stopped EVERYTHING to report on this. Why not go back to regular programming and report back when there's add'l news? IT'S ON ALL NETWORKS. This reminds me of when Princess Diana was in that crash - they wouldn't shut up about it all day. Then Peter Jennings announced she was DEAD!

Possible scenario: early morning, creaky body with bad back not warmed up. Pops some painkillers prescribed for his latest back surgery and on his way. Gets over-confident behind big SUV and little traffic. Speeding to make the early filming for the day at the golf course. Matthew McConaughey somehow manages to drive a Lincoln completely baked off his ass, likely on psychedelics as well, and he's still with us... Tiger can't even drive a Hyundai without totaling it and breaking both of his legs and getting pulled out of it with the jaws of life? This screams serious substance abuse issues.

In 2017, Woods was busted for DUI in Florida after cops found him passed out behind the wheel of his Mercedes-Benz.
Police at the time said it appeared he’d been in a minor car accident before they found him.
He told officers that he had a reaction to several prescription drugs, including Vicodin and Xanax. Soon after his arrest, he announced he was seeking “professional help to manage my medications” and dealing with back pain and a sleep disorder.
He pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of reckless driving and agreed to enter a diversion program

Actually people started speeding more during the pandemic because there are fewer cars on the road. Empty, wide open spaces are tempting. CHP issued more speeding tickets back in April and put out bulletins and warnings on electronic signs.

Considering the severe damage to the front of the SUV (Genesis GV80) the passenger compartment, and in particular the panoramic glass roof, is still intact. Most new/newer cars are designed to have crumple zones in the front to protect passengers in severe crashes. The details of the incident are forthcoming and I would think Hyunadi/Genesis should be proud of how this vehicle fared in an end-over-end flip/crash.

Things that happened today that are more important than a sex addict golfer breaking a couple of bones:
Senate hearings with the top brass of the security at the capitol $1.9 trillion stimulus bill moving swiftly thru the house confirmation hearings for the first native american appointed to a cabinet position a black woman being confirmed to represent the US at the UN Biden having his first meeting with a foreign leader, Trudeau, and the two holding a press conference
Yet its been 2 hours of Tiger Woods. And we wonder why Trump became president. Look at what the media wants us to focus on

Regardless, in this case...he would have had standard toxicology blood tests drawn at the ER as any trauma admission would. The police and/or prosecutors can subpoena those results later on if they choose to.

In my jurisdiction, you can refuse, without penalty, to do the field sobriety maneuvers (FMSs),
Yes, you can refuse, however, based on reasonable suspicion, it may not be “without penalty,” in other words, you’ll take the ride.

However, anyone operating a golf cart must also abide by the rules of the road that apply to all motor vehicles—including laws that prohibit driving while under the influence of drugs or alcohol."
Here in Ohio, but there are exceptions where you can get a DUI for riding a bicycle. Not sure how laws around this apply to newer items like Segways or hoverboards though, since they generally apply to motorized vehicles - not human powered ones.

The first officer on the scene, Deputy Carlos Gonzalez, said he was 'very fortunate to be alive'.
Woods was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
'He was alive, he was conscious,' said Villanueva, adding: 'He was not able to get up. That was not an option.'
'There was no evidence of impairment. There was no effort to draw blood or anything like that.'
Villanueva said he was traveling at 'a greater speed than normal,' but noted: 'that area has a high frequency of accidents.
He said the weather was not a factor.
He hit signs and 'sheared' a tree, Villanueva said.
'No skidmarks, no braking. Hit the curb, hit a tree, and there were several roll overs,' he said.

Usually the problem is all the wine swilling moms driving around in their SUVs, but there are other places where due to the ongoing plate movement the road is in flux daily with repairs and speed bumps, especially down around the golf courses. If fact the only reason Trump got to build his course there was the land is to unstable for residential architecture.

R425, that was yesterday. Hyundai’s today are very highly rated.
by Anonymous | reply 429 | February 24, 2021 12:00 AM |
The Genesis vehicles are pretty highly rated. The GV80 doesn't have any government crash test ratings yet because it's too new of a design.
That being said, I don't think they generally have as rock-solid structures as you'll find on European cars like Mercedes-Benz or Land Rovers.

I will be one of the first people in line to buy the GV70 when it comes out. I've always wanted a Genesis, but I want an SUV and the GV80 is too big.

I have a 2017 G80 and in addition to being reliable it is also a BEAST of a car, weighing in as much as a Range Rover so I'm not surprised to see their new SUV hold up well. Fuel consumption however is high but I haven't driven much in the last year ago that's not much of a concern for me.
Prior to the G80 I owned two Mercedes; the Genesis is just as solidly built if not better and is more reliable.

I wonder how much cash (as distinct from real estate and investments) Woods actually has. Cobwebs surround his wallet because he opens it so rarely.
I surmise his two kids are taken care of with trusts established at their birth and especially enhanced pursuant to his divorce settlement.
And, oh, except to Elin Nordigren I didn't think Tiger Woods owed anybody an apology or accounting for his harem. Still, she earned every penny she was able to wring outta Woods, the old skinflint.
I wonder if, in the event of his death, Woods has designated any of his dough-ray-mee to be distributed to that long-time girlfriend of his. She better wonder, too. He hasn't married her or had a child with her.
I would not be surprised if Woods had had a vasectomy and good for him if he has.
He's done. Even 20 years ago, with a younger body, it still would have been a big question if any person could sustain pro-tour golf skills.

Man, back in the day, the Datalounge Tiger Woods scandal threads, when he was busted by Nordigren, were some of the best evah.
They and the "scandal" had it all: sex, money, race, humor, and all against the back-drop of white, conservative, elite, pro-golf, whose establishment was falsely, publicly, pearl-clutchingly aghast! at the luridness of Tiger's behavior , but were secretly relieved that it diverted everybody from the real scandal- the proliferation of performance enhancing drugs among a lot of pro golfers, NOT only Tiger Woods.

There's a huge number of people who LOVE Tiger. If he wants to, he can make a shit ton of money writing a book(s) and after that, appearance and speaking fees. He has a lifetime of big paychecks talking about his career, what drives/drove him, his downfall, what he's learned, his personal comeback and on and on.

I wonder how his leg(s) got broken. The cabin on the SUV is remarkably intact... I know he had back problems so he may have had the seat positioned closer to the pedals and any intrusion after an 80+ mph crash would have done the trick. Or his legs may have been bouncing off each other. Race car drivers frequently break their legs that way. No other injuries reported so his upper body was well restrained, but legs are just left to flop around.
by Anonymous | reply 534 | February 24, 2021 9:34 PM |

This article said he drifted out of his lane - might be charged with "distracted driving" but probably not impaired - it was 7am or something. I had forgotten these things (also in the article) though:
The Tuesday crash wasn’t the first high-profile crash involving Woods. In 2009, he struck a fire hydrant and a tree while backing his SUV out of the driveway of his Florida mansion, with his then-wife, Elin Nordegren, reportedly breaking the back window of the SUV with a golf club to help get him out, according to ESPN.
Then in 2017, he made headlines again after he was found asleep behind the wheel of a parked car on the side of a Florida road with two flat tires, the engine still running and a blinker flashing, the Associated Press reported.
Woods later issued a statement, where he said he had an unexpected reaction to prescription medication.
by Anonymous | reply 537 | February 25, 2021 12:53 AM |
Woods was impaired. For whatever reason, law enforcement either failed to do their job to check for impairment or else the evidence was suppressed. Woods is friends with Trump. It wouldn't surprise me if Trump or some other powerful benefactor called in a favor. I'm sure that benefactor will receive a hefty "thank you" later.

R538, I read he wasn’t tested, because supposedly he didn’t need it. What does that mean? You wreck your car and nobody needs to know if you were on drugs? Obviously somebody got paid off.

[quote] He was rushing to film for golf tv with 2 NFL players at 730am.
To the person who keeps obsessing over the time of day, 7:30 AM is really not that early for a work thing to start. It's early to be drunk, but he wasn't. And if he was on opioids, well, that's a round the clock thing. I say this as a night owl who tries never to have to be up and about at 7:30—it's still just not that early.

If you want to practice golf in Florida, the only decent time is when the sun comes up and several hours after.
It's 100 degrees in the shade from noon till night - June to Sept.
I'd be shocked if he didn't try to avoid that humid sauna type extreme heat in the Florida summertime.

[quote] I had forgotten these things (also in the article) though:
[quote]The Tuesday crash wasn’t the first high-profile crash involving Woods. In 2009, he struck a fire hydrant and a tree while backing his SUV out of the driveway of his Florida mansion, with his then-wife, Elin Nordegren, reportedly breaking the back window of the SUV with a golf club to help get him out, according to ESPN.
Really? Did you even read the thread? It’s been talked about numerous times.

[quote] To the person who keeps obsessing over the time of day, 7:30 AM is really not that early for a work thing to start.
Personally I didn’t think that poster was inferring it was early in the day as much as the fact that the accident happened at 7:12 in the morning. If he had to be on TV in 18 minutes from that time, one would assume he’d be rushing and therefore driving fast.
Plus, a vehicle doesn’t leave its lane, go over the median, through two other lanes, over an embankment and shear trees and signs if speed is not a factor.
by Anonymous | reply 550 | February 25, 2021 12:26 PM |
in the tv interview, he looked bloated, eyes were glassy and red as well.... he didn't look "normal" that's for sure!...
one would think by now, he would have a driver 24/7!
by Anonymous | reply 551 | February 25, 2021 12:41 PM |
The fact the Sheriff says it was “purely an accident” when speed and careless driving are the least of the factors very clearly and obviously involved makes me now think that there is more to the story and they are either fanboys doing him a solid or are being paid off. Veering and knicking a sign is an accident. Swerving for a squirrel is an accident. Flipping your car over 3 lanes and some field, shearing trees in your path is a little suspect.

R545 is right. I used to set up golf rounds at some elite clubs for serious golfers ( was in PR) and the earlier the better in the hot places. This was mostly in Oahu but also California and Florida. Earlier was preferred because then they’d get hammered afterward at the clubhouse too. I’m sure any golf club would accommodate Tiger whenever he wanted to golf, but it’s miserable golfing under the heat.

R536
"The injuries are frequently seen among drivers involved in car accidents, said Dr. R. Malcolm Smith, the chief of orthopedic trauma at UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, Mass. Usually they occur when the driver frantically stomps on the brake as a car careens out of control.
When the front end of the car is smashed, immense force is transmitted to the driver’s right leg and foot. “This happens every day with car crashes in this country,” Dr. Smith said."
Basic physics explains his injuries.

I know that road he had the accident on. If you aren't driving with your hands 10 and 2 on the wheel, completely focused on the road it's dangerous. They even have an escape lane on the right., filled with gravel you can change into if you are losing control of the vehicle. It is so steep it's really scary at night. Doesn't bother me that much during the day but PV has no f-ing lights at night.
I don't think there is anything "not being said" about this.

Oh and bitches, it's been 80 degrees here in SoCal the last few days. It's about 60 around 7:30 and up that hill he was coming from has a higher altitude and is warmer.
If he was in any kind of rush or not completely focused, this could happen. The amount of speed you pick up is crazy. I'm always hitting the breaks hard on my decent.

R555, what does that prove? Yes, often occupants of a vehicle have leg injuries after a collision. That’s a given due to the nature of sitting down, where mostly the damage is, i.e., front end, etc.
The police have already said there is ZERO evidence of braking. Why are you trying to belabor that point on the basis of a physician saying people in MVAs routinely have broken legs?

I read the NYT article on the injuries - oof. Naturally with him being one of the best golfers of all time, there's the big question of "will he play golf again?" But after reading that, I'm more inclined to ask with "will he walk normally again; will he be able to put normal weight on his leg again; will he be able to run around with his kids again?"
I get why people have tremendous respect for Tiger - he was the very best at what he did - and "normal" people respond to that since most people aren't the best at anything. But, so many people saying "he's an incredible human being" - which is technically correct just based on golf skills. But, "incredible human being" usually means more - beyond specific skills.
And, it's not even that people are overlooking personal transgressions or character flaws and see him as "incredible" despite that - they can view him as overcoming obstacles, learning from mistakes ("we all make mistakes"). I guess what bothers me is that there's never any consistency (unsurprisingly). A different athlete, a different person would be destroyed and dismissed for even lesser transgressions or character flaws.

From the NY Post article chronicling his accidents. From 2017:
[Quote]Tests showed he had Vicodin, Dilaudid, Xanax, Ambien and THC, the active ingredient in marijuana, in his system.
Of course there was no roadside testing given his physical state. Given this history, wouldn't police request blood and urine test results from the hospital? The police in Florida, his home state, didn't give him any breaks. Why would RPV cops?
Toxicology tests from post mortems take weeks. What about a case like this?
by Anonymous | reply 567 | February 25, 2021 6:45 PM |
The show he was filming for was cheap and didn't have a big budget. if they had a bigger budget, they would have had a driver pick him up and drive him to the filming location.

Tiger Woods doesn’t want his career to ‘end like this’ after car crash: source
As the golf icon continues to recover from Tuesday’s rollover wreck outside Los Angeles, Woods realizes his career on the links may be in jeopardy, People reported.
“He doesn’t want his career to end like this,” a source close to the 45-year-old athlete said Wednesday. “So if there’s any way at all that he can continue playing golf, he will.”
Woods, who had back surgery to remove a disc fragment cutting into a nerve following the PNC Championship in December, is “frustrated” by his latest setback to his once seemingly unstoppable career.
He also wants to get back on the greens as soon as possible if he’s physically able, the source said.
“He expected 2021 to be the year of his comeback,” the source continued. “Obviously, that’s not going to happen now. And that’s disappointing to him.” Tiger Woods reportedly said he "doesn't want his career to end like this" after his horrific car accident.
But Woods – who has had nine previous surgeries throughout his career – thinks he can add one more dramatic return to his already-imposing resume, the source said.
“This is a massive setback and he knows that it’s a massive setback,” the source told People. “But he’s overcome obstacles in the past and think he can do it again.”
Woods was conscious when he was extricated via the front windshield of a 2021 Genesis GV80 luxury SUV that crashed on a problematic downhill stretch of road in Rancho Palos Verdes.
Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva has characterized the crash as “purely an accident” and ruled out criminal charges against Woods.
“He was not drunk,” Villanueva said Wednesday. “We can throw that one out.”
If Woods does return to golf, he’ll look to break his record-tying 82 victories on the PGA Tour and add to his 15 major championships, second only to Jack Nicklaus.
Woods reportedly has no memory of the single-vehicle rollover wreck, which left him with a shattered right leg. Doctors also inserted a rod into his leg and placed screws in his foot and ankle, according to a statement posted on Twitter.

He was running late and speeding to get to a filming at 7:30. Was it going to be a live show? Famous and important people are late to things all the time, by hours and hours in some cases. Why would it have been a big deal to be late? Is he that much of a perfectionist?
by Anonymous | reply 573 | February 25, 2021 7:41 PM |
He probably is. Could have been a live segment or something. Still, they probably would have been adjustments given that he wouldn't have been THAT late and he's Tiger Woods.

74 million people voted for a pussy grabbing, dirtball scrumbag, con artist/grifter, pathological liar, thrice bankrupt, thrice wedded asshole for President of the United States, and did so quite proudly. by Anonymous | reply 583 | February 26, 2021 2:57 PM |
r583, to my knowledge they did a toxicology. But they haven't subpoenaed the results. They also need a warrant to get his phone records. They can get all that if they chose to. They are waiting for the black box from the car. If there is something weird with that they can call the other evidence. If it just reveals he lost control going downhill, they won't.
