Why isn't "A Foreign Faction" in that poll???

The last book in the list, by a detective on the case, may answer it.

Read Kolar's Foreign Faction. He explains everything. For so long I assumed it was the mother, but I couldn't understand why the father didn't just dump her and drop a dime. How wrong I was.

It was a tragic, well, do we call it an accident? Her little brother killed her in a rage, and her parents, having just lost one child, didn’t want to lose the other as well.

by Anonymous | reply 12 | February 23, 2021 4:18 PM |
OMG, r2; any list that includes the self-serving books by her parents is a dopey list.
The missing book is "A Mother Gone Bad," title taken from Patsy's softball team named "Mothers Gone Bad." (And take a sec to think about THAT.)
The gist: Patsy---
through her previously-known lexicon and syntax as written in letters, cards, notes, etc.;
through her facial expressions, gestures, and words in post-murder interviews;
through her known and on-going, cross-country struggle with cancer and its own jargon;
through her known affinity for certain habits, penchants, idiosyncrasies, and demands;
and through her known beauty pageant past and her involvement of her daughter in that lifestyle---
can be deduced, using the logic inherent to psychology, as the killer of Jon Benet Ramsay.
The "ransom letter" is the Rosetta Stone.

by Anonymous | reply 16 | February 23, 2021 4:50 PM |
Patsy wrote the ransom letter, I have no doubt about that, but I am certain it's because she figured out her husband did it and was covering for him.
If Patsy had committed the murder, John would have turned her in within seconds, probably would have turned Burke in, too.

It wasn’t the murder itself, r19. It was the continuing mystery about what happened, and the inability to penetrate the bizarre coverup.
99.99% of the child murders in the US are as obvious as the nose on SJP’s face.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | February 23, 2021 5:42 PM |
Didn't the city clear Burke and both parents after DNA testing in 2008? John had an older daughter (from his first marriage) who said that he was a good father. Burke seems like he was too small at that time to have the strength or knowledge to commit the murder in the way it was committed.
A lot of people are hung up on the ransom note, which was a weird note, but a federal court ruled that Patsy did not write it, based on the testimony of experts.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | February 23, 2021 5:42 PM |
If you watch the best ones on u tube bout this, it seems the dad did it and went too far with his sex play with her, but patsy did indeed write the note, no doubt bout tht. burke is just a bit....on the spectrum.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | February 23, 2021 5:46 PM |
She wasn't sexually abused before her death, either long-term or immediately before her death. Someone wanted to make it appear she had been. However, if she had been sexually assaulted there would have been plenty of DNA evidence on her body.
Read Foreign Faction.

The cellar window that the "intruder" allegedly used to gain access to the house was broken from the inside and not the outside. If you've ever watched Forensic Files, when the cops see this they immediately drag the homeowner down to the station for an interrogation. Of course, because the Ramseys were rich and prominent, this didn't happen.

Thanks, R76. I read that autopsy, but I wouldn't conclude that there was no sexual trauma. The autopsy contains a long paragraph describing different things re: genitalia (hyperemia and abrasion). Autopsy did conclude that there was no anal & perineal trauma.
I won't quote the whole long paragraph here.

Burke had a secret retarded twin brother, Lurke, who'd often break out of his attic room and cause mischief.
by Anonymous | reply 81 | February 24, 2021 4:58 PM |
Burke was only eight years old at the time, he couldn't have been prosecuted. Why would John and Patsy need to protect him?
by Anonymous | reply 82 | February 24, 2021 5:16 PM |
If it had come out that Burke had done it, his life would be ruined, regardless of rehabilitation in psychiatric care. He'd have been infamous for having been found officially to have killed his sister; even worse after the story blew up. I think the parents wouldn't have been able to tolerate that blemish on his and their names.
by Anonymous | reply 83 | February 24, 2021 5:20 PM |
It's not unheard of for women to protect their partners after they murdered their child. If John went to prison his older children would have taken every penny he had. Patsy would lose her money and social status.
by Anonymous | reply 84 | February 24, 2021 5:23 PM |
Also, you really don't know what might have happened to Burke. There's no lower age limit on incarcerating someone. Yes, 8 is very low, but IIRC, 13-year-olds have been prosecuted as adults and put in prison. Star Jones bragged about doing that.
by Anonymous | reply 85 | February 24, 2021 5:23 PM |

R95, police allowed the Ramseys to take part in a search of the house (for JB's body). On top of that, John, upon finding body in the basement, picked up the body and brought it upstairs, thus disturbing the crime scene. Not sure how Patsy reacted.
The cops were out of their depth and just plain dumb at times.
by Anonymous | reply 98 | February 25, 2021 12:34 AM |
What in the hell was up with that suitcase that was found in the basement? The one containing a blanket and a Dr. Seuss book. The blanket had seminal fluid on it which was identified as belonging to John's eldest son, John Andrew.
by Anonymous | reply 99 | February 25, 2021 2:37 AM |
I think the brother did it accidentally, don't think he meant to kill her. He was pissed she snatched a piece of pineapple from his bowl so he took the flashlight and smacked her over the head. He told the parents what happened, they couldn't rouse her, they feared for their son, so they staged the "kidnapping" to coverup for Burke. The agony of it all drove Patsy to an early grave.
by Anonymous | reply 100 | February 25, 2021 2:46 AM |
I don't think it was Burke. If it was, we never would have heard about this case, the police would have kept it quiet to protect a prominent family and Burke would have gone to therapy, that would be it.
On one of the many, many JonBenet threads someone laid out a convincing argument for the father being the killer.
by Anonymous | reply 101 | February 25, 2021 2:47 AM |
The brother killed her and the parents panicked, fearing for their family's reputation.
The dad staged it to look like a break in and sexual assault while the mom wrote the ransom letter.
Then the parents put up with all the speculative accusations towards themselves all those years to protect their son, and also they were invested in their story. They must've realized all their dumb cover-up mistakes very quickly, but it was too late to admit the truth. They were very shallow and vapid people obsessed with their image and status.
by Anonymous | reply 102 | February 25, 2021 2:49 AM |
The detective said the deadline in the ransom note came and went and the parents never noticed? She said John was "cordial." They split up to search the four-story house and John went right for the storage room where she was "discovered."

r101 must have meant that we never would have heard about this case, if John and Patsy had done the sensible thing and taken their daughter to the hospital and explained Burke's accidental outburst on Christmas Eve. But they worried about the gossip in the community and instead staged an elaborate cover-up that exploded into worldwide attention.
by Anonymous | reply 105 | February 25, 2021 3:08 AM |

If it was one of the parents they would have turned on each other.

There was some sick stuff going on in that house.

by Anonymous | reply 109 | February 25, 2021 3:24 AM |
John and Pasty were in separate rooms the whole morning which isn't typical behavior for parents of a missing child. When the body was discovered everybody ran to where John had placed it under the Christmas tree. Except Patsy who didn't get up from her chair and had to coaxed out by a friend. When Patsy saw the body she gave quite a performance, dropping to her knees and screaming "Please God, you raised Jesus! Raise my baby from the dead!"
by Anonymous | reply 111 | February 25, 2021 3:41 AM |

It's surprising that the dads (John R.) of these pageant girls don't put a stop to it. My guess is that John had his own life, maybe a woman on the side, and wasn't paying that much attention to Patsy. Patsy maybe felt entitled to have this hobby of dressing up JB and parading her around, due to John being absentee, etc.

Regarding the pageants, Patsy was raised in the same way, on the pageant circuit. From the one book I read on the case, it sounded like Patsy's mother was batshit. It was impossible to have a back and forth linear conversation with her. She just went into rants that may/may not have had anything to do with the proposed questions.

R128 Linda Hoffman Pugh was quoted in ‘Perfect Murder Perfect Town’ as saying she always had to wipe peanut butter off the counters when she arrived on Monday mornings to clean. Hoffman Pugh also said that Nedra, Patsy’s mother, would chide Patsy about the messy house saying “Linda’s not here to pick up, Linda’s here to clean.”

Do any of the poor kids who are sent on the child pageant circuit by their psycho, famewhore parents ever grow up to be well-adjusted, intelligent adults? How do they get over such a fucked up childhood and parents encouraging their own little children to behave like tiny sluts?

P.S.
Who cares? She'd be way too old for the pageant circuit now anyway!

Pageants should be outlawed for girls under 14 (high school age). Pageants are for mothers to compete with each other while living vicariously through their children. The children are likely bored out of their minds. All the pageant training, and getting dressed and made-up wastes to much time. It cuts into play time and socialization time, but it also cuts into school and study time. It's a horrible lesson to teach little girls that they should focus on their looks above all else.

Given that the crime has never been officially solved. Will the police open a cold case review?

Answer: All three family members took part in the JonBenet's murder.

A prosecutor formally exonerated the Ramseys & even apologized to them. There was criticism:
[quote] Former Adams County DA Bob Grant, one of a number of consultants on the case brought in early on by the Boulder County DA at the time, Hunter, told ABC News he was confounded by Lacy's 2008 decision. "This is craziness," he said. "This is not what prosecutors do. If prosecutors are going to exonerate someone they do it by charging someone else."
This exonerating prosecutor sounds slightly nutty:
[quote] "Here’s what I was doing with the exoneration letter," Lacy explained. "I was trying to prevent a horrible travesty of justice. I was scared to death that despite the fact that there was no evidence, no psychopathy and no motive, the case was a train going down the track and the Ramseys were tied to that track."

R142 i was surprised at the square footage.
As an aside, John thought it was a violation of privacy that the local paper printed, in the real estate transactions section, how much they had paid for that house.

I don’t think John’s life is so charmed these days.

^i think the housekeeper came in 3 days a week. Plus, she snd herfamily helped on other occasions. I know Patsy had them bring the Christmas trees from the basement on Thanksgiving weekend in 1996

Patsy seemed to behave, dress, decorate etc. in the manner she 'thought' rich people lived, with little class or genuine style and taste of her own? Small town social climbing frau, no?

R134 I've always thought that someone should do a doc on teenage and older girls that had gone through the circuit. What was their perspective on things once they had some time away from it?

Yes indeed, we too use "cookies." Take a look at our privacy/terms or if you just want to see the damn site without all this bureaucratic nonsense, click ACCEPT. Otherwise, you'll just have to find some other site for your pointless bitchery needs.
