Didn't the city clear Burke and both parents after DNA testing in 2008? John had an older daughter (from his first marriage) who said that he was a good father. Burke seems like he was too small at that time to have the strength or knowledge to commit the murder in the way it was committed.

A lot of people are hung up on the ransom note, which was a weird note, but a federal court ruled that Patsy did not write it, based on the testimony of experts.

If you watch the best ones on u tube bout this, it seems the dad did it and went too far with his sex play with her, but patsy did indeed write the note, no doubt bout tht. burke is just a bit....on the spectrum.

Thanks, R76. I read that autopsy, but I wouldn't conclude that there was no sexual trauma. The autopsy contains a long paragraph describing different things re: genitalia (hyperemia and abrasion). Autopsy did conclude that there was no anal & perineal trauma.

If it had come out that Burke had done it, his life would be ruined, regardless of rehabilitation in psychiatric care. I think the parents wouldn't have been able to tolerate that blemish on his and their names.

It's not unheard of for women to protect their partners after they murdered their child. If John went to prison his older children would have taken every penny he had. Patsy would lose her money and social status.

Also, you really don't know what might have happened to Burke. There's no lower age limit on incarcerating someone. Yes, 8 is very low, but IIRC, 13-year-olds have been prosecuted as adults and put in prison. Star Jones bragged about doing that.

R95, police allowed the Ramseys to take part in a search of the house (for JB's body). On top of that, John, upon finding body in the basement, picked up the body and brought it upstairs, thus disturbing the crime scene. Not sure how Patsy reacted.

What in the hell was up with that suitcase that was found in the basement? The one containing a blanket and a Dr. Seuss book. The blanket had seminal fluid on it which was identified as belonging to John's eldest son, John Andrew.

The brother killed her and the parents panicked, fearing for their family's reputation.

The dad staged it to look like a break in and sexual assault while the mom wrote the ransom letter.

Then the parents put up with all the speculative accusations towards themselves all those years to protect their son, and also they were invested in their story. They must've realized all their dumb cover-up mistakes very quickly, but it was too late to admit the truth. They were very shallow and vapid people obsessed with their image and status.

The detective said the deadline in the ransom note came and went and the parents never noticed? She said John was "cordial." They split up to search the four-story house and John went right for the storage room where she was "discovered."

It's surprising that the dads (John R.) of these pageant girls don't put a stop to it. My guess is that John had his own life, maybe a woman on the side, and wasn't paying that much attention to Patsy. Patsy maybe felt entitled to have this hobby of dressing up JB and parading her around, due to John being absentee, etc.

Regarding the pageants, Patsy was raised in the same way, on the pageant circuit. From the one book I read on the case, it sounded like Patsy's mother was batshit. It was impossible to have a back and forth linear conversation with her. She just went into rants that may/may not have had anything to do with the proposed questions.

Pageants should be outlawed for girls under 14 (high school age). Pageants are for mothers to compete with each other while living vicariously through their children. The children are likely bored out of their minds. All the pageant training, and getting dressed and made-up wastes to much time. It cuts into play time and socialization time, but it also cuts into school and study time. It's a horrible lesson to teach little girls that they should focus on their looks above all else.

Given that the crime has never been officially solved. Will the police open a cold case review?
