Goldie & Liza Together

This prime time special aired 41 years ago - February 19, 1980. I remember watching it! I was intrigued by Liza’s Jeep. I was 7 years old.

They should have filmed Chicago together.

That is the gayest program description I have ever read......

by Anonymousreply 2February 20, 2021 3:23 PM

Yes, it's too bad Chicago wasn't made when they were both young enough to do it. That would've been a great movie.

Explain...

by Anonymousreply 4February 20, 2021 3:28 PM

It's just everything a gay 12 year old would want to see back then.......they hit all the highlights from musclemen to room mates to a song from GYPSY!!!

Those pics of them mugging in outlandish costumes makes it look insufferable.

From that description, it makes the show sound like a Sweeney Sisters' gig.

"Bring it down, Goldie. "

"Yes, all that jazz. Jazz can mean so many things. What about all that jazz you put up with to keep the wrong man?"

"Guilty!"

"So we'd like to now do a piece from Chekov before we dress as clowns and spray it each with seltzer while singing madcap songs."

It was fun and of its era. It wasn't as brilliant as "Baryshnikov on Broadway," which Liza made with Baryshnikov the same year.

Liza, like Judy. Couldn't really sing or dance. But she had a lot of good coke energy before she died. RIP.

It was not to be...

Did they do a "cute" number about whether it should be "Goldie & Lisa" or "Lisa & Goldie"?

by Anonymousreply 11February 20, 2021 3:55 PM

R10 That number is a reminder that Bob Fosse isn't choreography, it's charades.

by Anonymousreply 12February 20, 2021 3:57 PM

Liza does Donna Summer's "Bad Girls."

r12 is an idiot.

by Anonymousreply 14February 20, 2021 4:01 PM

R13 Liza was a horrible pop singer.

The only time she pulled it off was on Results because the Pet Shop Boys knew how to showcase her campy way of singing.

by Anonymousreply 15February 20, 2021 4:03 PM

They decided to not go with Miss Kirk and got Miss Minnelli , instead, r11.
