The Sims

We had a gamer thread a while back so I just wondered if anyone here has ever played The Sims.

by Anonymousreply 22February 20, 2021 3:32 PM

I love playing the Sims. I play SIms 3 I can't stand Sims 4. I created a hot guy to be the town slut, but he got abducted by aliens and ended up pregnant.

Love Sims3! I installed a great Hollywood world populated by the likes of Jayne Mansfield, Lucille Ball, Desi Arnaz, Joan Crawford and Baby Jane Hudson. Oh, and Divine as “Dawn Davenport” operates a whorehouse. Hilarity ensues.

What's the difference between Sims 3 and 4? I haven't played in years.

by Anonymousreply 3February 19, 2021 2:52 PM

Sims 3 worlds are much bigger than Sims 4. Sims 4 characters appear to be more cartoonish . Also there are way too many Sims 4 expansion packs compared to Sims 3, making it way too expensive.

My original SIM became a crack whore with ten kids.

by Anonymousreply 5February 19, 2021 5:29 PM

I only ever ended up finding more outlandishly cruel ways to make them die.

Loved Sims 2 and 3, hated Sims 4. The Sims 4 was so empty and shallow compared to the previous games, even if you compare just the base games with Sims 4. Sims 5 better be an improvement or I'm done with the games.

by Anonymousreply 7February 19, 2021 5:31 PM

Loved the original Sims game.

How does Brian Sims fit into all of this, is he a simulation?

by Anonymousreply 9February 19, 2021 6:01 PM

Building houses (with a little help from "klapaucius") was more fun than playing the actual game with those annoying sims was.

I was a little gold digger. Married, then made them go for a swim and deleted the ladder, or made them cook without a firealarm and go rid of the door. I think my best streak was something like 9 husbands before I got over it.

by Anonymousreply 11February 19, 2021 6:09 PM

I used to like starving them then make them order a pizza but remove the door so it couldn't be delivered.

by Anonymousreply 12February 19, 2021 6:13 PM

Never got the appeal of killing sims, to me it's no fun, but then I score very low on sociopathy tests, so...

I like the building options in Sims4, but I agree it's a giant money hustle by EA. The game has been out for years and it still doesn't have horses, cars, pool tables, spiral staircases, bunk beds, all the basic shit the other games had fairly early on. The company never listens to fans--we've been asking for a farming pack for ages, and instead we get Star Wars-inspired shit and another supernatural pack nobody wanted. It's like they are trying to kill the game.

The Sims normally release a new sequel every 4 to 5 years, it's been 6 and a half since the Sims 4 released and there is no announcement for the Sims 5. Don't think that's a great sign, especially with a project like Paralives coming along and gaining support.

by Anonymousreply 15February 19, 2021 7:14 PM

I played Sims 1 and 2, but didn’t have a desktop for many years, so I got out of playing. I got one a couple of years ago and have been enjoying Sims 4.

I probably enjoy building houses more than playing the game. During lockdown, I attempted to recreate various historic architectural styles. I was never that satisfied with how any of them turned out, but it was a fun process.

by Anonymousreply 16February 19, 2021 7:17 PM

Paralives would be a bigger threat if they could finish it. It's been in development for years. Sims 6 will be out by the time they debut it.

I have Sims 4 on PS4 and The base game of Sims 4 on my pc along with the Paranormal expansion pack, I've been looking for a good nudity/sex mod but all the mods I've found come with other weird stuff.

Someone who works for EA or origin who helped create Sims 3 has to be a dler. In buy mode, i think one of the couch descriptions refers to earrings and caftans. It could not be a coincidence.

by Anonymousreply 19February 20, 2021 2:29 AM

I know someone who worked as part of the development team for The Sims 3, EA were constantly asking them to take stuff out that could be bundled into some expansion pack. I think weather was originally part of the base game but removed fairly early on due to EA intervening.

by Anonymousreply 20February 20, 2021 3:08 PM

The biggest WTF is that swimming pools and toddlers weren't part of the original Sims4. Fans threw a fit, and EA had to make them free updates later on. They should have just included them to begin with.

"10 year old me realizing you can make 2 male sims kiss each other"

Or in my case 20-year-old me.
