Gay, surely. Conversely I simultaneously do and do not understand why there are so many transwomen on grindr. To me they are women - especially as the ones on grindr present very femininely, generally - so really not to my interest. The only thing I do get about them being there is that there is not really anywhere else for them to go, they probably have better luck on grindr than on tinder or whatever the straights are using nowadays. But I kind of wish they had their own space that was not grindr. I'm more chill with transmen being on grindr, I'd hook up with or date a post-op transman, because, like, he's a man?

The big confusion comes from society assuming trans women are inherently gay and thus apart of the gay community.
