What do you use? I used to use H&R Block for free but now it looks like I have to pay. Anyone use EzTaxReturn? It's free according to the IRS website.

TurboTax tried to get me to pay this year because of my HSA. I used Tax Act, which was one of the recs on the IRS website.

I'm with r2 , FreeTaxUSA. Free Federal, pay for State. Been using it for years. Info rolls forward from year to year. I had to do amendments, and it was easy.

You're one of the earlybirds. The IRS didn't even start accepting e-filed returns until 2/12 this year.

Most of those free filing sites have income limitations, or other restrictions on who can use them. I have a rental property and can't even use the regular paid versions of TurboTax or H&RBlock--I have to get the one that several levels up and is designed for people with businesses. And even then, although they give you five free Federal e-files, they charge you another $20 for each State e-file. Complete ripoff. (I usually end up doing four Federal returns for friends--in addition to my own-- and then I have to charge them $20 for the state e-file.)

The point is to be able to submit the tax information electronically.
Don't be that asshole that does everything on paper if you can avoid it.

I just pay for H&R Block online. I always have a refund, so I just take the amount to pay them out of that.
