I finally got around to watching DPS and it was a lot more boring than I could have imagined
Dead Poets Society or School Ties?

School Ties has that delicious shower scene.
But Ethan Hawke was adorable, if fully clothed, in DPS.

You know who liked DPS? Rich kids who we all hate.
Stupid movie.

One of the best movies I've seen. Don't worry, OP, Mickey Mouse will be on later.

Speak for yourself, R2.

DPS now comes across as overwrought but it’s amazing how many people fail to realize Robert Sean Leonard’s character was gay.

We had to study Dead Poet's Society at school. I hated every second of it.

Old fashioned movies like that are a bore.

I didn't see what was supposed to be so special about Robin Williams' character

School ties. Hands down. Fraser was incredible in it.

The one that didn't have Ben Affleck in it.

School Ties is much more homoerotic, so it wins.

I was a young gayling when Dead Poets Society opened and as soon as RSL was revealed to have a theatre itch I knew he was meant to be gay without them actually having to say it. They went with the "artistic" descriptor. Had they had more guts maybe the movie could've been more effective. Him committing suicide because his father didn't approve of his sissy passion was weak.

Brendan Fraser is such a good actor

School Ties had Amy Locane before she became so fucked up

That makes sense the RSL's character would have been gay. It just seemed too much that he would commit suicide because of his theatre passion.

it's surprising Anthony Rapp's character never got his ass kicked

R18, it was obvious he committed suicide because he was being pressured into a life (by his father) he never wanted. You need to think in terms of the time. Stop using your present-day thinking on a time where you had to live a certain way whether professionally or personally or both.
And my vote is for "School Ties" because Randall Bantikoff was at his hottest.

R19, Ben Affleck's character was his protector.

Imagine! A movie made in the late 1980s now seems dated!
Wacky!

"School Ties" is free on Prime.
Brendan was so beautiful back then.

School Ties was good, but I thought Michael J Fox while good was overrated.
Justin Bateman was better than they give her credit for.
And Meredith Baxter Birney was underused.

None of the above
