My doctor first referred to me as middle-aged when I was 35.

45 to 65 and then old

Are the middle age people elder gays then?
by Anonymous | reply 17 | February 13, 2021 10:19 PM |
OP, take your age and divide by 2.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | February 13, 2021 10:20 PM |
I was informed recently that eldergaydom starts at 30.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | February 13, 2021 10:23 PM |
R12, yeah, I threw a fit when I turned 36. I'm such a drama queen!
by Anonymous | reply 20 | February 13, 2021 10:25 PM |
I vote 50 is when it just starts.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | February 13, 2021 10:25 PM |
40 to 60 Middle age 60 to 80 Old age 80 to 100 Lucky mother fucker.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | February 13, 2021 10:26 PM |
The average life expectancy in the US is roughly 78 years. Divide that by 2 and you have your answer.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | February 13, 2021 10:26 PM |
60, or whatever age Alexis is.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | February 13, 2021 10:28 PM |
Take your age and double it and if it's not a tragedy you are dead its middle aged.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | February 13, 2021 10:29 PM |
You don't know until it's over.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | February 13, 2021 10:32 PM |
We can all agree that by 40, you have hit middle age. Some say it starts at 35, but that is the earliest. 30-35 is youth's last hurrah.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | February 13, 2021 10:36 PM |
I've read 35 and old age starts at 65. I guess your opinion will depend on what age you're at. I was born at forty and felt old at 16.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | February 13, 2021 10:43 PM |
95! But of course!
by Anonymous | reply 29 | February 13, 2021 10:46 PM |
35-44 is the “not young anymore” category.
After that (up until mid/late 50s) is de facto Middle aged.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | February 13, 2021 10:48 PM |
Average age of death in the US is 80 so 40 is the start of middle age.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | February 13, 2021 10:49 PM |
[quote] The average life expectancy in the US is roughly 78 years. Divide that by 2 and you have your answer.
And the answer is??
by Anonymous | reply 32 | February 13, 2021 11:07 PM |
If you are a good top, eldergaydom is an illusion.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | February 13, 2021 11:13 PM |
55 is considered elderly by doctors. go from there.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | February 13, 2021 11:16 PM |
12 and a half.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | February 13, 2021 11:19 PM |

Whenever it is, you’ll feel it.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | February 16, 2021 11:33 PM |
Who's Middle Aged? Never heard of her.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | February 16, 2021 11:36 PM |
19, once that hole has been used more than 3 times you're over the hill.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | February 16, 2021 11:39 PM |
The life expectancy is about 81 now for humans so divide that by three to even things out...
0-27 = young.
28- 54 middle aged.
55 & over = you're almost toast.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | February 16, 2021 11:40 PM |
I'm 31 for bias context.
I think it starts around 30 if you're crazy youth obsessed and can't believe a young adult can't have a wrinkle or gray hair or two. Otherwise its around 35 unless you legitimately keep up a lot of more youthful markers in your appearance and lifestyle. But you're there by 40, unless you're one of those young looking mutants that keep everything as (or more!) youthfully active as in your twenties. So 45 latest. So 35-45 start. I'm 31, I'm not middle aged but I'm starting to feel age, and approaching changes (even if its really quite a while from now). My partner is 34, and while he keeps himself well, I'd probably comfortably start considering him starting mid age within the next few years.
It lasts until a similar range of 55-65. If you're a rapid ager that wrecked yourself and can't do shit about shit in your life anymore, it may as well be seniordom as soon as 55. But if you're a healthy ager that always looks much younger than your age (looking at you Ming Na Wen) and the worst about you is that your injuries take longer to heal and you need a few pills, its up to 65 or so.
So middle age's biggest range is 35-65, with more experiencing is closer to 40-60.

On Datalounge, at 25
by Anonymous | reply 44 | February 16, 2021 11:50 PM |
starting around 39 and ending no later than 45...because 39 x 2 = 78, and 45 x 2= 90. After 45 it's no longer the middle because the extreme likelihood is that you've got more life behind you than ahead of you.

If you have to ask, you've already hit the wall.

A week from Friday, OP
by Anonymous | reply 47 | February 17, 2021 12:12 AM |
R45 'middle' doesn't mean literal middle. You can have a mid life crisis in your thirties. You can reach a level of senior living and health in your fifties. Its almost as vague as generational differences.

I like to think of it as: young 0-30; middle aged 30-60; old 60-90

Which coincides with your saturn returns exactly
your first saturn return is at 29 - that's when you really become an adult - you're no longer YOUNG and then there's your second saturn return at 59 and that's when old age begins

From the Encyclopedia Britannica
middle age, period of human adulthood that immediately precedes the onset of old age. Though the age period that defines middle age is somewhat arbitrary, differing greatly from person to person, it is generally defined as being between the ages of 40 and 60. The physiological and psychological changes experienced by a middle-aged person centre on the gradual decline of physical abilities and the awareness of mortality. In middle age, the relative potencies of past, present, and future are altered as the individual increasingly directs effort to the process of reminiscence and recollection of the past, rather than anticipation of the future. If approached constructively, middle age can prepare an individual for a satisfying and productive old age.

Childhood ends at puberty. Youth ends at 21. Middle age starts at 30. Old age starts at 60. By all means take care of yourself so you can look and feel young, , but don’t kid yourself, the clock is running as long as you live.

Young - 0-30
Middle aged - 30-60
Old - 60+
by Anonymous | reply 62 | July 18, 2022 2:02 AM |
The people who insist that middle-age must be exactly half of life expectancy are absurd. By that metric you're young until you're 39 and old as soon as you turn 40.
Middle age is the middle third of your expected life span, not a single year.

In gay terms:
18-25: Young
26-29: Middle age.
30 until death: Old

“Not a kid anymore” starts at 40
I didn’t feel middle aged until I turned 50.
