The mysterious success of Joe Rogan

I’ve never listened to his show, but my take: He gets white, straight males’ dicks hard. He’s muscular, (to them) funny, and the very definition of an “alpha male”. He’s the guy they want to be. Beyond that, he pretty deftly navigates politics, as I understand it, inviting both viewpoints on his show.

He was gorgeous back in his "Newsradio" days. but he ruined his looks with all the steroids and HGH treatments.

Agreed, R2. I would have fucked his brains out back when he looked like this. He was so handsome. Unfortunately, the steroids and bodybuilding have wrecked his body. He looks like shit, yet seems to think himself a paragon of health and vitality. The reality is that he is quite short and does not really have the frame to sustain the amount of muscle he seems to want to have. There are photos of him where his torso looks truly deformed. I do think all of it comes from a "short man syndrome" place—which is unfortunate. He looked great the way he was, short or not.

Current stand-ups love him because he'll go after any comedian who steals someone else's material. He's a bulldog that way.

He's a mean guy too. Despite the sexiness back in the day I could never get over that.

We shame fat people for being fat but not steroid users for wrecking their bodies in a different way.

While I mostly disagree with Joe on most things, I give him a lot of credit for bringing credibility and awareness to the benefits of Kratom. It's a miracle plant that should be embraced by the medical community to help end opioid addiction.

So, you settle into your minimum wage job and Joe Rogan, Jordan Peterson, and their ilk, will sell you a convenient, easy to digest explanation why your life sucks and how to fix it: start with weird diets and iffy supplements which will "make you a real man", embrace the cult of hypermasculinity, fight feminists, immigrants, and whoever is holding you back (in your mind) and some such facile nonsense. There's a lot of money to be made off bullshit.

That Brogan changes his facile opinion every 5 minutes doesn’t matter. He’s mind numbingly stupid and talks to other stupid people and acts (key word is ACTS) like he’s intelligent and by extension, THEY’RE intelligent because they listen to him. These rubes are not looking for smarts, just talk.

I was kind of bummed out when Maynard James Keenan went on his show, as a huge Tool fan here. Maynard has been very vocal about those who oppose same sex marriages in the past. Rogan gets some unlikely guests to appear on his show. I don't get it.
