Where the hell has he been? The curse of an unconventional looking Best Actor Oscar winner disappearing into obscurity because no one knows how to cast him. Like F. Murray Abraham. I like him and want to see more. So unfair.
Why Did Adrien Brody's Career Go Straight To Shitter?
by Anonymous | reply 42 | September 30, 2022 6:00 AM |
I'm guessing he might be problematic behind the scenes. I honestly can't remember anyone's career going that cold after a Best Actor win.

He’s sticking his perfect dick up my butt every night.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | February 12, 2021 2:14 AM |
Pics or it didn't happen, R2.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | February 12, 2021 2:19 AM |
He's apparently difficult to work with, or at least the SNL castmembers have said.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | February 12, 2021 2:22 AM |
Really R4? That makes sense. Lots of actors with talent and potential have lost their career mojo by pissing off the wrong people.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | February 12, 2021 2:24 AM |
Huge cock.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | February 12, 2021 3:43 AM |
[italic]The Pianist[/italic] is still a compelling film and he was magnificent in it.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | February 16, 2021 12:30 AM |
He was so damn hot in "Summer of Sam."
by Anonymous | reply 8 | February 16, 2021 12:34 AM |
I have also heard he is very difficult to work with. Word travels...
by Anonymous | reply 9 | February 16, 2021 12:36 AM |
R2 you'd have a better time sitting on his face since his nose is bigger than his dick.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | February 16, 2021 12:36 AM |
I remember reading an article in Vanity Fair about his participation in some kind of illegal and very dangerous road race. Complete with a "fuck me I'm famous" bumper sticker. Whose going to invest the money necessary for a film on someone like that? James Dean, Paul Walker etc.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | February 16, 2021 12:38 AM |
Wes Anderson's singlehandedly keeping him afloat.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | February 16, 2021 12:48 AM |
Because he assaulted Halle Berry! #metoo

Adrien Brody Opposite Robin Strasser (One Life To Live)
by Anonymous | reply 14 | February 16, 2021 1:21 AM |
He's a dick on set. There are a lot of other well known actors who are not.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | February 16, 2021 1:48 AM |
I've also heard that he's difficult. Combine that with his unconventional, non-leading-man looks and it's not that surprising he doesn't get much work. I, too, would like to see more of what he can do, though.

Adam Driver came along.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | February 16, 2021 4:09 AM |
That face.

I was thinking this was about Brody Jenner....didn't make sense...
by Anonymous | reply 19 | February 16, 2021 4:12 AM |
Not our fault that you're stupid, r19. What was the film you imagined Brody Whoozits won an Oscar for?
by Anonymous | reply 20 | February 16, 2021 4:15 AM |
You can't be a rising star, difficult on set AND have a gigantic nose. It's just not done!
by Anonymous | reply 21 | February 16, 2021 4:22 AM |
I was seated next to him and Elsa Pataky once at Dan Tana’s. They don’t take reservations, for anyone. You wait at the bar regardless of who you are. He didn’t put on any airs and seemed like a normal guy. Very cute in person. This was around 2006.- 2007. I just don’t know if Hollywood knows what to do with him. He’s talented and quirky. My generation’s (X) Goldblum.

One of the few hosts permabanned from SNL. That says something.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | February 16, 2021 4:40 AM |
I'm curious about his disappearance as well. To those disclosing rumors of him being difficult, what are your sources? Do you have friends in the industry who have worked with him? Or just general gossip via sites like DL? Obviously, there's something to the rumors, but just seems odd

His only hits post-Pianist were from franchises he had no hand in building (King Kong, Predator, M. Night Shymalan) or had supporting roles.
Most of of the rest were flops after The Pianist both commercially and critically: The Jacket, Hollywoodland, Manolete, The Brother's Bloom, Giallo, Splice, High School, The Experiment, Wrecked. That's a lot of money with little return on investment to sink into an actor over the course of seven or so years. He saw himself as a leading man, but he didn't have the charisma to back that up. It doesn't help that his only real claim to fame is tied to an unrepentant pedophiliac pariah.
He's lucky Wes Anderson likes him for some reason, as he keeps getting roles in his films. And, he was fun in Midnight Paris, but that was a huge cast with a lot of strong performances. He enjoyed a brief "comeback" with a Houdini TV series/movie, but that was a lukewarm one at best. He just doesn't generate much interest in mainstream audiences. He would have been better off taking supporting roles from talented directors from the get-go. He must be comfortable, because he hasn't really made any active decisions to shift his career.
He's dating Harvey Weinstein's ex now.

He is playing Arthur Miller in the upcoming Blonde, so I guess that's something for fans to look out for. He's playing opposite Ana de Armas as Marilyn Monroe. He'll also star in an upcoming Saoirse Ronan film.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | February 16, 2021 7:54 AM |
Has he starred in any films that made big money? He doesn't seem to be guaranteed box office, and ultimately that's what studios want and will pay for. Prestige is nice but money is better.

I'm one of the few who enjoyed Hollywoodland but that was mostly because of Bob Hoskins. Didn't Adrien do a Stella Artois commercial?
I like his unusual looks.

He cruised my friend over a decade ago in the village.

he sucks cocks in alleys

An Oscar is only an opportunity to keep working. He's worked nonstop for 20 years. He has been well paid and earned more in 20 years than most of us will in our lifetimes combined. He's doing great.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | February 16, 2021 3:19 PM |
In one of the gossip threads someone reported that he's an "anorexic fetishist." Which seems like an odd kink, so I'm wonder if he has others and that hurt his career.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | February 16, 2021 3:38 PM |
he dated many "models" from Asia.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | February 16, 2021 3:44 PM |
His face is a nose with eyes. Hideous.......
by Anonymous | reply 34 | February 16, 2021 4:20 PM |
He was hot as fuck in Summer of Sam, as someone else said. He had a great body for a long time and he is attractive if you like the joli laide types.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | February 16, 2021 4:41 PM |
According to rumour, stupid-massive ego, superiority/entitlement tantrums, and treating people like crap. He's a good actor. There are lots of good actors. And lots who aren't annoying, disruptive, time-consuming...
And his nose isn't a liability. In fact, I think he owes half his career to being gifted with that nose. It adds "character" to an otherwise ordinary face, and gives him the kind of look that casting seems to want/audiences expect for "interesting character roles". "Character" I say, "character"!

I was a huge fan of this photoshoot he did. Always thought he was hot.

YUM!
by Anonymous | reply 38 | February 17, 2021 2:16 AM |
I just finished season 4 of Peaky Blinders where Brody played the main villain. His performance was embarrassing. I think he was doing a Marlon Brando/Vito Corleone impression.

I had to bump this thread; I was channel surfacing recently & came across "Chapelwaite" on Epix; if you're not familiar, it's an old Stephen King story that's been turned into some 6 part series. Adrien Brody stars & while this isn't exactly Shakespeare, his talent compared to the rest of the cast is rather shocking (his co-star/love interest is this woman that I swear shouts every line).
Instead of being a horror story about a New England town with a curse/vampire (because they go together), it's a horror story about a one time Oscar winner that's surrounded by no names in some made for TV crap-fest. What happened? What curse was brought down on this actor to sink into the pit of mediocrity? Is there such a thing as a career vampire that sucks the life out of once promising people & reduces them to this crap? Thank goodness it looks like Brody has Wes Anderson to save him!

Instead of getting blown by Heavy Whalestein's wife,Brody should have blown Heavy instead! Whalestein always took care of his victims.
