I always thought of this group as European. But Wikipedia says the country with the most gypsies is the US. Who knew?

It doesn’t say the US has the most Roma, OP, it’s got 1M with Romani ancestry. Europe still has the largest population, and Romania is overrun with them. They’re marginalized and discriminated against and basically uneducated, so it can be no surprise they are known as thieves and scammers.
