[quote] The SF school board tonight spent two hours talking about whether to allow a gay dad of mixed-race SFUSD kids to volunteer for one of several empty seats on a parent advisory group. Their problem was that he’s white and doesn’t bring diversity to the group. They didn’t appoint him, and now the parent group remains all moms which means women must do all the work of the group.
Shit hole.

And this surprises you ? Who are the gatekeepers of "diverse" ?

How are we not dealing WITH THE REAL ISSUE AT HAND:
ABRAHAM LINCOLN? THE NAME OF THE SCHOOL IS ABRAHAM FUCKING LINCOLN?
THE NERVE AND AUDACITY!!
(AND WHY DIDN'T ANYONE BRING FUCKING COOKIES?)

Excuse me, but they better be gluten-free, vegan cookies, WITHOUT nuts or dairy.

Yes, this is an obviously open-and-shut case as gay dad needs to also be not white and disabled.
Maybe he can be pilloried in the next newsletter because a handful of trans women of color met their demise due to this situation as he took their application spot.

Somehow I have a feeling that Asians, either Asian Indians or East Asians, 'need not apply' as well. Diverse now means black and Hispanic.
Just how do these people, who believe blacks and Hispanics are disadvantaged in every way-- how do they believe that blacks and Hispanics can afford to live in San Francisco? I'm white & I sure as hell will never be able to.
They're going to have to bus them in to board meetings from other cities. And they probably will!

Never - SF is on the express train to hell

A crazy clown world when a gay dad of biracial children isn't diverse enough.

[quote]They didn’t appoint him, and now the parent group remains all moms which means that the group isn't diverse at all.
Fixed.

Fuck fake diversity, which is just color-chip enforcement by white people and self-serving members of approved "victim" groups.
Hurray for true diversity and the challenging, scrupulous ways needed to to expand it socially and economically.
DIVERSITY = EVERYONE

All he had to do was to self ID as a woman. White privilege and toxic masculinity do not apply to MTFs who are welcome to any group that prides itself on representing #Equality, #Diversity and #Inclusion (EDI).

He’s not DIVERSE diverse.

Thought the exact same thing, R19. It took *two* hours for them to come to this decision. The meeting went seven hours before they even started to discuss school re-openings. This sounds like the seventh circle of hell.

r6, that was the controversy from two weeks ago. Yes, the San Francisco board of ed made headlines for advocating changing 1/3 of the schools names, including that very same Abraham Lincoln High School, since so many historical figures are evidently considered problematic now.
