Tina Turner Chosen OVER Pat Benatar For Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame

Pat Benetar won Female Grammy For Rock - Four Straight Years In A Row (81, 82, 83, 84)

Yet Tina Turner has been chosen OVER Pat Benatar for Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame

Why?

by Anonymousreply 55November 29, 2021 3:35 PM

To avoid an Oh So White situation.

by Anonymousreply 1February 10, 2021 3:30 PM

Tina. She deserve to be there under her own name, not just with Ike.

by Anonymousreply 2February 10, 2021 3:32 PM

As she should

by Anonymousreply 3February 10, 2021 3:39 PM

Pat Benetar is certainly worthy, but Tina Turner is Tina Motherfucking Turner.

Hopefully next time for Pat.

by Anonymousreply 4February 10, 2021 3:44 PM

[quote] Why?

It's black history month

by Anonymousreply 5February 10, 2021 3:45 PM

Relax. She’s older and in poor health. PB will get her turn. She belongs, but industry love is a battlefield.

by Anonymousreply 6February 10, 2021 3:45 PM

I don’t know any Pat Benetar songs off hand. Tina Turner is a living legend. No comparison.

by Anonymousreply 7February 10, 2021 3:46 PM

Please....Linda Ronstadt was just inducted a few years ago....AFTER the likes of Madonna

by Anonymousreply 8February 10, 2021 3:47 PM

Pat will get in next year

by Anonymousreply 9February 10, 2021 3:47 PM

Both of them before fucking Joe Camel 🐫 Jay Z.

by Anonymousreply 10February 10, 2021 3:47 PM

How the fuck did Stevie Nicks get in before Tina Turner. Is she still fucking industry guys?

by Anonymousreply 11February 10, 2021 3:49 PM

Tina's without a doubt and for all time, the Queen of Rock n' Roll. Pat can wait

by Anonymousreply 12February 10, 2021 3:54 PM

and?

by Anonymousreply 13February 10, 2021 4:17 PM

Simple - Tina is a legend. Pat, not so much

by Anonymousreply 14February 10, 2021 4:18 PM

What do Grammys have to do with anything? Tina is way more popular and influential.

by Anonymousreply 15February 10, 2021 4:23 PM

Tina is the queen. This is an indisputable fact.

by Anonymousreply 16February 10, 2021 4:31 PM

Pat was a bank teller before she started singing.

She can go get her damn window back while she waits, if she has to keep busy.

by Anonymousreply 18February 11, 2021 1:12 AM

OP is everything in your life trolling?

by Anonymousreply 19February 11, 2021 1:17 AM

Love both Pat and Tina.

But Tina Turner is in a different category that Pat Benetar. Tina is a megastar with a career and story spanning many decades. Pat did some great stuff in the eighties (1980 - 1986 in particular) and definitely left her mark but is in no way comparable to Tina Turner. Not even close.

This is very reminiscent of that stupid Madonna/Janet Jackson feud where the answer is clearly Madonna.

by Anonymousreply 20February 11, 2021 1:30 AM

Anna Mae Bullock and Patricia Mae Giraldo.

Anna wins.

by Anonymousreply 21February 11, 2021 1:32 AM

OP, why didn't you ask why Kate Bush was chosen over Benatar? Kate's a genius but I'm just asking.....

by Anonymousreply 22February 11, 2021 2:39 AM

But Pat is the greatest dancer in rock 'n' roll history!

by Anonymousreply 23February 11, 2021 2:43 AM

Why is anybody chosen for the R&R Hall of Fame? It's a joke. There are so many unworthy inductees that it's mind boggling.

by Anonymousreply 24February 11, 2021 2:47 AM

Does anybody know if Tina will be there tonight, or will she Skype in from her Swiss Chateau ?

by Anonymousreply 25October 30, 2021 10:49 PM

Did they ever induct Kate Bush?

by Anonymousreply 26October 30, 2021 11:25 PM

Pat is eventually destined for it.

by Anonymousreply 27October 30, 2021 11:27 PM

Connie Francis sends her best. As does Mary Wells (long distance from the beyond). who gets into the R&R Hall is meaningless and political.

by Anonymousreply 28October 30, 2021 11:35 PM

They are not exactly competing with each other. Tina Turner is TINA TURNER! Sheesh!

by Anonymousreply 29October 30, 2021 11:36 PM

R20 it's obviously janet jackson...

by Anonymousreply 30October 30, 2021 11:36 PM

R6 I see what you’ve done here….

by Anonymousreply 31October 30, 2021 11:44 PM

Tina Turner flew to New York to attend the opening of her Broadway jukebox musical in 2019, and she said at the time that it would be her last visit to the US. She's in poor health and does not leave Switzerland.

by Anonymousreply 32October 31, 2021 12:24 AM

Pat never had a number one hit. This is the tacky reality. That, and the wheezing bone dust of the boomer overlords maintain their death grip on what defines relevance despite the experiences of three subsequent generations. Tina’s 80s comeback output was enjoyed, but it was decidedly more pop than rock.

by Anonymousreply 33October 31, 2021 1:10 AM

I was sure it was going to be Nana Mouskouri this year.

by Anonymousreply 34October 31, 2021 1:26 AM

R28 So right!

by Anonymousreply 35October 31, 2021 2:31 AM

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame isn't just about rock music r33. It's modern popular music. Pat Benatar definitely deserves to be in there.

by Anonymousreply 36October 31, 2021 2:39 AM

Pat is more rock. Tina is more popular.

by Anonymousreply 37October 31, 2021 2:54 AM

Pat Benatar wouldn't know how to sing if it wasn't for Tina Turner laying it down for all Rock and Roll singing women. Tina would blow Pat off the stage and believe me Pat Benatar would agree with that.

by Anonymousreply 38November 23, 2021 3:32 AM

Mireille Mathieu for next year, one hopes.

by Anonymousreply 39November 23, 2021 3:37 AM

Tina is on her death bed, so no surprise they're rushing to honor her.

by Anonymousreply 40November 23, 2021 3:41 AM

She was already in the Hall of Fame. Her solo recording career quickly veered away from rock and roll.

by Anonymousreply 41November 23, 2021 3:43 AM

Benatar won 4 years in a row and then Tina won the next four.

They both belong in there.

by Anonymousreply 42November 23, 2021 7:43 AM

They both belong in there (Tina already is, with Ike) and it's fucking ridiculous that Benatar didn't get in the first year she was eliglble. She is literally the first rock and roll female solo superstar!!!!

by Anonymousreply 43November 23, 2021 8:40 AM

No one cares about Pat Benetar. Tina is a legend. Pat is nobody.

by Anonymousreply 44November 23, 2021 9:00 AM

Pat Benatar tells CBS Sunday Morning this AM it DOES NOT bother her that she was snubbed by Rock n Roll Hall of Fame

While awards are nice and validating, do I need someone to acknowledge me? No

"Life is not fair, what are you going to do"

The RRHOF is such a joke. I don't get why it's not just called Pop Music Hall of Fame. Because so many inductees are not rock and there's many who can't play instruments or sing.

by Anonymousreply 46November 28, 2021 5:35 PM

Pat who?

by Anonymousreply 47November 28, 2021 5:43 PM

They both deserve it. Tina Turner first, and then Pat.

by Anonymousreply 48November 28, 2021 5:54 PM

Pat Benatar is trending online - because people puzzled as to why she is NOT in the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame

by Anonymousreply 49November 28, 2021 10:02 PM

TINA TURNER IS THE QUEEN OF R & R

by Anonymousreply 50November 28, 2021 10:49 PM

Kate Bush didn't get in either, so Pat is in good company.

by Anonymousreply 51November 28, 2021 10:52 PM

Excuse me, that's Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo. She will not accept the "invitation" without him being a co-headliner.

by Anonymousreply 52November 28, 2021 10:52 PM

R52 That interview was actually creepy.

by Anonymousreply 53November 29, 2021 1:23 AM

Wondering why OP is viewing this as Tina vs Pat? There were quite a few others that were nominated but not inducted. There were other solo acts that were. Why not Pat vs Todd Rundgren? Why not Pat vs Jay-Z? Is it Tina because we love to pit women against each other, or is this race bait? Or both?

by Anonymousreply 54November 29, 2021 2:43 PM

Who the fuck cares about Neal Giraldo? He's always co-billed with Pat Benatar and in interviews with her.
